  • This is a tribute both to the brilliant actor that he was, as well as the brilliance that is the movie Dead Poets Society

A brilliant mind. That is one of the first things that pop into my mind when I think of Robin Williams. A brilliant and extremely witty mind. I have no idea in what movie I first experienced him in but I know that he’s been a part of my life at least since the 90s. I’ve always loved Disney's Aladdin but initially I didn’t know that it was him voicing the genie. However I did know that I loved the genie. Since then I’ve watched more movies that he was in and I’ve never really been disappointed. He always managed to put a smile on my face. And I’m well aware that I’ve watched only a small portion of all the productions that he was in (and I do plan to rectify that at some point) but I can definitely say that I loved Robin Williams and his bonkers mind so much. No, that came out wrong. It shouldn't have been in past tense. I still love him, very much.
Like I mentioned previously I haven't seen all of the movies he was in but of course I still have my favorites among the ones that I’ve seen. Among those top movies is definitely Mrs. Doubtfire. It’s such a hilarious movie that I have loved ever since I watched it that first time. Hilarious and very touching at the same time. Also on this list is Good Will Hunting. Both Robin and Matt Damon are brilliant in it. And it shows that Williams wasn't just a comedian but could also do drama really well, a point that I’ll get back to in a bit.
I’m also a big fan of the movie Good Morning, Vietnam. It’s another one that is both hilarious and a bit heartwarming which is interesting considering that it’s a movie that takes place during a war. But it’s another one that really showcases the brilliance of Robin as both an actor and a comedian.
As I mentioned earlier I really like Aladdin so of course that’s going to be on this list as well. It has always been one of my all - time favorite Disney movies and still is to this very day. It's not just thanks to Robin, of course, but his rendition of the genie was pure genius. I know that one of the reasons for him doing that role was thanks to Disney agreeing to let him improvise the script for the genie. Which is why he is such an amusing character that just oozes Robin Williams.
My absolute favorite movie with Williams is by far Dead Poets Society though. I think it’s a very touching and thought provoking movie. I first watched it in 2004 as part of a school assignment. We were to watch a movie and then write a review of it in English. I’m from Sweden so English is not my native tongue so this was part of my foreign language studies. I got to watch Dead Poets Society for the first time in my life and I loved every minute of it. It’s inspirational and sad, but also has some funny moments in it. I would recommend anyone that hasn’t seen it to watch it. I don’t think you’ll regret it.
Because it’s my favorite movie with him I chose to base the name of this pet on the movie title as you can tell.

It was a very sad day for me when I found out about Robin Williams’ passing. He has enriched my life so much with all the laughter his comedic brilliance has brought with it. I doubt I’d be the same person without those experiences. The world is a bit more dreary without him in it.

I will always miss you and your brilliant mind, Robin Williams. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the joy you’ve given me throughout the years ♥️
