Dover was loved.

Right from the earliest moment he could remember, he was loved. That perfect day when the little girl picked him out of all the other toys, he knew that he was the luckiest dillema in the world. They had tea parties together (he liked Earl Grey and she liked Chamomile), they climbed trees together, and she even liked to bring Dover to school. He was so happy with the little girl holding his paw!

People often say that nothing lasts forever.

Dover and the little girl were playing jungle buddies in the forest one bright sunny day. Dover would climb the tree (in reality the little girl would toss the dillema as high as she could) and she would pretend to be a brave jungle cat trying to rescue her best friend. They had fun for hours!! Soon it began to get dark. The little girl was having so much fun playing that she never noticed that it was still day. Soon she could hear her parents frantically calling for her to come home. Dover had climbed very high into the tree and she quickly set out to get her favorite toy. The first branch she reached with ease. But then her foot seemed to be stuck. She looked back and realized that her father had ahold of her and was bring her down with a panicked look. The little girl cried out saying that Dover was stuck in the tree. Her dad hugged her close and said to get him later. Apparently a tornado had been seen nearby. Her mother and big brother were waiting in the cellar with blankets, candles and everything else they needed.

Meanwhile, above ground...

Dover was afraid and alone. He couldn't see a safe way to get out of the tree and the wind was howling louder and the day was fading. He wanted to cry, but he was just cotton and patches... All of the sudden, a violent gust lifted him from his arboral tower and he was being carried by a cyclone. It felt like he was travelling for hours and as the funnel slowly died down, he was gently placed on the forest floor. Dover had no idea where he was and more importantly he didn't know how to get back to the little girl. He decided to just stay where he was, hoping the girl would find him.

Days passed and no sign of rescue.

Dover was starting to give up. The only company he had was a passing raccoon and a few squirrels who gazed at his plush form, deciding if they should bring him back to their drey. After a week went by, he knew that he was lost forever. By that time, the ground had started to mold around him as if he were part of the foilage and dirt. He wanted to cry again. Just then, a tiny ant happened by and heard the anguished moan of the stuffed dillema. The ant introduced herself as Kiera and asked what was wrong. Dover told his story and how he was now cold and alone with no friends anywhere. After he finished, the ant jumped up and ran away.

When one door closes, another door opens.

The next day, Kiera came back to where Dover was laying. But this time, she had friends. A whole colony of ant followed behind her cautiously. The brave little ant explained that her colony had lost their home in the big storm a week ago and they were looking for a safer place to stay. Dover got excited and invited them to live with him in the forest. Without warning, the colony climbed on top of Dover and started to burrow into the fabric down into his stuffing. The dillema cried out in surprise. However, they weren't hurting him. They instead filled him with warmth...a warmth he hadn't felt since he had lost his little girl. They made their home with Dover and now if you visit them, you almost cannot tell the difference between the ground and the dillema. He lived happily with his new family in the forest.

Dover was loved.
