Iron
The Soldier
A soldier on my own, I don't know the way
I'm riding up the heights of shame
I'm waiting for the call, the hand on the chest
I'm ready for the fight and fate
The sound of iron shocks is stuck in my head,
The thunder of the drums dictates
The rhythm of the falls the number of deaths
The rising of the heights ahead
Known as a god of war, conquest, smithing and fire, Iron is as much of a force of nature as he is a being that can be called living by any definition. He's titanic creature of metal, unhindered by borders and obstacles, and just as strong and stubborn as his name would imply.
His body is virtually a living furnace, and it's considered a mercy that he rarely stays in one place long enough for the extreme temperatures to cause too much damage unless that's the intent. He's well capable of controlling this, but to see him without him being at such temperatures that he appears to have a fiery sort of mane is rare. It's not uncommon, as a result, for him to be also followed by great clouds of smoke that can be seen long after he departs.
Despite his associations with war, Iron is largely viewed as neutral, if partially due to the company he keeps. It also helps that he rarely stays one place for long, and that he rarely targets any one place unless they have done something grand enough to actually draw ire. He's very much, in some sense, an inevitability - that there will always be conflict and change, regardless of where you go and what you do.
It is also not uncommon for him to take the form of a wandering smith. His identity as a smith is almost as famous as his identity as a god in some regards, with his talent well known, along with the fact he rarely asks for more then extra supplies for his work. However, the rules he works under are odd, at best, and those who have managed to connect the god and the smith know well enough to not mention it lest they attract either of their infamous tempers.
This temper has kept Iron, either as the god or the smith, from making many meaningful connections past a few. His anger is one born of fire and destruction with very little reason, and he knows that well enough to keep distant from others lest his reputation get unsavory. The legends of this, however, is generally enough to keep whispering tongues under control, and he finds that quite useful in its own right.
"Never your king, but always your knight."
