Interview with a Cyborg

"I almost wish I could forget..."
The young woman across from me paused- her deep green eyes were fixated on her hands that were resting on the table. She began to tell her story in fluent english with a heavy French accent that seemingly ached with regret.

"And I almost wish the mind control chip had worked, that everything they had taken from me didn't mean anything to me anymore." She looked up at me- her interviewer- and a small unnerving smirk graced her delicate rosey lips. She looked almost mad to me. But judging by her appearance I would not have been surprised if she was in some respect, quite mad.

"But if that were the case--" She continued, my attention drawn back to the story at hand.
"-- I wouldn't be here, telling you my story and no one would learn of the things they did to us in there." At this she turned her head away from me and seemed to shiver as if the taste of those words had felt bitter in her mouth.

"My name was Gigi Dupont. A former Prima Ballerina at the peak of my dancing career, famed for my incredible leg strength and flawless performances. After the 'incident' I've been known as Gigana. I am a cyborg experiment - an unwilling victim of Cyberspark Industries. This is my story, and it is not to be taken lightly. I tell you this in the hope that Cyberspark be brought to justice and that the thousands of others just like myself may be freed and offered a second chance at a normal life." I watched her as she rocked back in her seat, staring down at the mechanical monstrosity that had replaced her left leg. I tried so hard myself, not to be caught staring at it.
"As normal as can be expected anyway..." She added, a grimace of disgust unnattractively adorned her features at even the very thought of her metal appendage.

"It started during a performance at Le Ballet du Théâtre Royal de la France on the 21st of December 2008. As you may remember from the news coverage on that day, the entire building was blown to pieces... The Theatre was packed and nearly two-thousand people lost their lives... My body was never found and I was presumed dead like the twenty-six others who weren't accounted for." She drew a deep breath. It was evident that memories of that day were difficult for her relive.

"It was amazing to learn that over two hundred and fifty people managed to escape with their lives. Unfortunately, my family weren't a part of the lucky ones... I remember the look in my mothers eyes as pieces of the set, emblazoned in flames came crashing down upon them all. It was the last thing I remember seeing before I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head and my vision became a blur. I don't remember anything during those lost precious hours-- maybe even days-- between the time I blacked out and when I awoke in the tank."
