Things That Go Bump In The Bedroom

"I know you're not sneaking around my library, you little troublemaker."

Ms. Bedfellow is one of many "Family" members that belong to a cult called Paradise Lost though she didn't always belong to this forsaken place. She was once a beautiful dancer who adored cosplaying all sorts of scenarios for her clients private roleplays. For the most part she was kind though had a bit of a mean streak about her that could put the rudest of customers in their place. She had no time for nonsense and even less time for those who spoke poorly about her line of work. Maybe if those Debbie downers would spend more time with their partners they wouldn't have to spend so much time with yours truly! Hehe~! Ms. Bedfellow did not have a preference when it came to the clientele either, she was happy to preform for anyone who wished to watch. It had earned her quite the reputation but unfortunately for the naysayers she definitely couldn't give less of a flying rat's tail about what they thought. Her sister, Eriphos was supportive for the most part but Ms. Bedfellow knew the other was quite jealous of the attention she received. Family gatherings often times devolved into arguments over which was the better of the sisters. Eriphos by far was more successful but Ms. Bedfellow had earned the love of the people and wasn't such an "uptight ulcer" like her sibling. Life would change drastically for the well loved Bedfellow however as she started her evening at work. Her first client was someone new, someone she had never seen before. He was tall and dressed in a dark cloak that obscured his face. He took a seat in Ms. Bedfellow's lounge and she proceeded to ask what he'd like to do this evening.

"Hi hun, looking for some fun are we?"
"..."
"Well sugar I got a lot of fun things we can do! What are you into? Cute cooks? Tantalizing teachers? Maybe mysterious madams?"
"..."
"Hun we can't play if you don't give me a direction."
"Librarian."

His voice had thrown her off as it sounded as sweet as honey yet something didn't quite feel right beneath that sickly sweet aura. He nodded and went to get dressed, her ebony locks shimmering in the soft glow of the LED lights strung up around the room. She slipped a pocket knife within her stockings just in case her gut was right about how wrong this guy was and began her work. She was most certainly not into this as his responses were rough and uninterested, as if he had other things on his mind. She began to get frustrated with his single word answers and finally stopped to ask if perhaps he was just looking for someone to talk to instead. Either way she was getting paid for her time. He didn't answer but she could tell he was put off by something as he fidgeted with his hands. The hood of the cloak had slipped off, revealing a small portion of mask beneath. Most of his face was still obscured though and the dimly lit room did not help.

"Well? What is it hun?"
"I..."
"You can tell me. I won't be mad."
"You won't?"
"I promise."
"... I'm sorry..."

The smile she had gave him faded as he swiftly stood up and swung what looked like a metal pole. She barely had time to dodge, just missing the attack. She turned on her heel to get help but was swiftly knocked unconscious as the gentleman was far quicker on his feet and caught up almost instantly.
When Ms. Bedfellow awoke she found herself on a hospital bed. The room was dimly lit by a dirty lamp and the place looked like it could use a bit of a deep clean even though the bedsheets seemed white as freshly fallen snow. Her head hurt immensely as she slowly rose to sit up, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. She groaned and rubbed her forehead, wishing she'd see the guy again and give him a good walloping or three for damaging her beautiful head like that! She also wished she had her purse so she could take some aspirin for this pain. She rubbed her eyes a final time before lifting her head, a mirror sitting directly across from her. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust so she could look at herself in the reflection. She blinked a few times, not believing what she saw. She then grabbed the lamp and brought it closer to confirm that what she had saw was indeed real. Her dark mane was now ratty and frayed. Her eyes and face had sunken in considerably and had become an ashen grey. Her horns were now cracked and chipped in places, looking as if they belonged on a crumbling statue and not of a living creature. The shriek that escaped her alerted the the good ol' doctor and he rushed in to calm her down.

"What happened to me?!?!"
"Calm down dear, it's alright."
"Alright? THIS ISN'T ALRIGHT! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BEAUTIFUL MANE? MY SILKY SKIN? MY SMOOTH HORNS?"
"Death isn't kind to us all, I am afraid."
"....What?"
"My name is Dr. Cured. Let me explain some things to you."

The doctor softly explained that she had become a target of a little thing called Paradise Lost. Someone had wanted her out of the picture and thus had asked their God to do something about it. So he sent a colleague to collect. During the initiation process to claim her as part of the "Family" her form had changed into its current iteration and cannot be improved upon unless she were to lose a limb and ordered by the God, Ophius, to replace it. He had to give the go-ahead. Ms. Bedfellow quietly listened and nodded along to the doctor, her heart sinking with every word he said. She was informed that once she properly rested she was to report to the library as she was appointed the new librarian. Ms. Bedfellow's face twisted in disgust and when asked she explained that's what the guy had told her to roleplay as. Dr. Cured put his clawed hands into his face and sighed. The guy wasn't supposed to say anything about the future job to her but he had to blab. Ophius was not going to like this. Though the doctor did offer his condolences and told her if she had any medical issues in the future to come see him. He couldn't guarantee he'd be able to see her right away as sometimes business is booming while other times you could see a tumbleweed fly by. She thanked him and he escorted her to the library. Ms. Bedfellow only hoped that this job won't be as deadly as her previous one.

Eriphos
Eriphos is Ms. Bedfellow's more successful twin sister. She runs a business in Scarset City that doubles as a front for taking people under the wing of Paradise Lost. When Ms. Bedfellow found this out she nearly lost her mind. How dare her sister keep this a secret from their family?!? Eriphos just smiles and tells her she's the one living in the real world now. She has no power here. It is true though, Eriphos had also been chosen as "Mother Matron" aka "The One Who Sees All." Her task is to keep her eyes and ears out for anyone looking to undermine the rule of their God, Ophius. She holds one of the highest positions and will gladly use it to punish her sister if the other is out of line. This caused Ms. Bedfellow's blood to boil and she swears she will get back at this sister one day. She even has suspicions that Eriphos is the one who wanted her out of the picture anyway.

Cured
The good doctor who helped Ms. Bedfellow get back on her feet after taking a nasty bonk to the noggin. He was the first and only kind face she has run into so far. Everyone else seems hellbent on sabotaging one another and it disheartens Ms. Bedfellow to see. Dr. Cured gave her the information on why she turned into a ghastly version of herself and told her that her position the librarian would be well protected by Ophius as he was quite interested in keeping the collections safe. If anyone made threats toward Ms. Bedfellow, she was to inform a higher ranked family member immediately so that the problem could be swiftly dealt with. He occasionally brings her treats and she adores listening to him talking about his patients. Even though he tries to be vague about it she can clearly tell who he speaks of due to the very nature of the "Family" anyway. Either way, she is thankful for his company.

Poets
A recent addition that had caught Ms. Bedfellow's attention due to how frequently he visited the Library. The tiny bird always wanted to look at the poetry collection that they had though often requests tomes that she did not have. She's had a few folks go out and retrieve the books for her since she isn't allowed to leave the confines of the library. Soon enough the little bird begun to bring a friend, one that felt awfully familiar in their aura. Her gut told her that this was the gentleman who had struck her with the metal rod but she did not have proof. The mask this one wore was not the same as the one she had observed that night. Of course he seems to come in with a different mask every time he visits so perhaps he may slip up and wear it. Ms. Bedfellow quietly keeps his eye on Poe and this friend as she has caught them speaking as if they were living in a poetry book and believes them to be using it as some sort of secret code. Unfortunately like the mask, she doesn't have proof but at least made sure to tell Eriphos about it.
