A wyrm chose to die.

[ But death means nothing to such old things. ]

The wyrm woke again, small and pale. He turned and carved a city into the mountain, unperturbed by beast and mantid who recoiled and fought. His light shown bright and divine, and soon many a bug followed, enthralled, entranced by buildings that shone and moved on their own.

So bright was the wyrm, that nearby moths turned away from their radiant creator. Angered, she sought to drive the wyrm away, and magic sang and warped and brought those dreaming and awake so very close together.

Finally she was trapped within dream, but all things dream, and this was her realm. She tore at those who slept with spell and claw until their minds were gone and they turned on their pale king. This plague of dream grew and bubbled and, for the good of the kingdom hallow, had to be contained.

Deep beneath the earth, far below where even wyrms burrowed, was a black sea. An abyss, home to void, to nothingness, that nevertheless still lived. The pale king and his blossoming queen turned to this, stole what was not theirs, and shaped it into life borne of god and void.

No cost too great.
No mind to think.
No will to break.
No voice to cry suffering.

Also many a failure, one would be borne to seal the light the blinded and plagued the dreams of a kingdom.

The Hollow Knight.

They trapped the radiance within its being.
They were both sealed away.
All was well.

Until a voice escaped to cry suffering.
