Black Cat
Legacy Name: Shiraishi

A black cat strolled down the main street on a regular weekend
Majestically swaying his curved tail with pride
The cat was hated by all because of his appearance
And he melted away into the darkness as people threw stones at him

The cat was used to loneliness; or rather, he had just come to expect it
Getting close to other people was nothing but a pain.
Then a young artist picked up the cat in his arms and said:
"Good evening, little one. You and I seem to take after one another."

The cat struggled out of his arms, clawing at him desperately,
Trying to escape back to familiar loneliness
He ran and ran far away away, because he couldn't trust
The kindness or warmth he had felt for the first time in his life

But no matter how far the cat ran, the strange artist was right on his heels

After that day, the cat spent two winters with the artist
The painter named his friend "Black Good Luck", read as Holy Night
The artist filled up his sketchbooks with nothing but black figures
The black cat stayed by and and depended on his very first friend, until one day...

His owner fell ill due to poverty.
After he wrote his dying letter, he said to the cat:
"Run, run! Deliver this for me.
Take it to my lover who waits at home for me to return from chasing my dreams."

Black cats are bad luck; pictures of them wouldn't sell, and yet you drew only me.
You gave your life for me. I'll make sure this letter is received.

The black cat ran across snowy mountain trails,
Holding his passed friend's message in his mouth the entire way
Children threw rocks when they saw him, crying, "Look! Black cats are servants of the Devil!"
Call me whatever you like-- you can never take away my name!
"Holy Night"-- he called me "Holy Night".
He put his love and kindness into that name
Even if everybody in the world hates me, I have a reason to live
So I think I must have been born to do this.
I can go anywhere I need to.

The cat finally arrived at the hometown of his friend
There were just a few more kilometers left until his friend's beloved's house
He ran, and he fell down; he was already covered in wounds from his journey
He got to his feet, even as the townspeople booed and attacked him
There's no way I'll fail! My name is Holy Night!
Even with his limbs nearly torn to pieces, he dragged himself along and kept running, until--
This is it! This is the house!

After reading the message, his friend's lover took the cat who could no longer move
She buried him in her garden and added one letter to his name:

"Here lies Holy Knight."
