Sometimes, a soul goes astray.
Sometimes, it's on purpose.
Don't that make you suspicious
That there's something the dead are keeping back?
Yes, there's something the dead are keeping back.

When you glance inside the room, it seems surprisingly cheerful. The walls are a flat institution grey, but there are trinkets distributed about that brighten it up a good deal. A sweet bunny plushie with an oversized ribbon, several lovely white flowers, that kind of thing. It's a room for a child, and this one has obviously been living here a while.
You hear a happy voice chirp out a greeting and turn to see the room's occupant come in. This--is not a child. This is... barely alive. Her skin is badly tattered and nearly as grey as the walls themselves. Her eyes are the only brightness to her now, blue and full of life. She ignores you and trots, almost bounces, over to a table with flowers on it, leaning close to enjoy their scent.
She turns back to you and says, "I was just out for therapy! My doctor wants me to see things outside my room sometimes, so I don't forget. I don't really understand! It's strange. Please, help me," she adds, in the same bemused yet cheerful tone.
As if she hasn't said anything out of the ordinary, she continues, "My parents told me I was acting strange, and they sent me here! I don't mind it so much she doesn't know. And I guess the doctor is helping me please I'm trapped inside." The last words are almost rushed, now.
She tilts her head at you and says, "Oh, by the way, I'm Lurancy! I really am--I know that I am," she insists. "The doctor says I've claimed to be someone else--Ross? Roth? I forget what he said that I told him aren't you going to help me?" A little plaintive note enters her voice.
Lurancy looks at one of her shelves; it has some stuffed animals and a doll. A doll that seems to have blood on it. "I haven't seen my parents in... um... I guess it's been a long time. And sometimes I miss them please! I only want something little!" The plaintive note is now a little grating. Maybe angry. Lurancy coughs, like there's a tickle in her throat.
"But the doctor says I can't go home until I've been cured of my no one would ever notice her missing," she whispers fiercely, looking over to her bed. With a start, you realize that there's something under there, in the darkness beneath her bed. Something that glints like eyes.
Her head dips low, then raises again, as if with an effort. "I'm... very tired all of a sudden. I guess I had better take a nap can't you just get me a knife? I take a lot of naps now. I don't think I took this many before."
She sighs, heavily, and lowers her head almost to the ground. Then she lifts her gaze to yours, and you see that her blue eyes have turned entirely black.
"This is just skin," she hisses. "But it is all mine."
