Mino

There is a legend in a small part of the world, of a creature called a Mino. This supernatural being can cause confusion and mayhem which in turn causes people to turn a different path, to get lost, to have something different happen. Some people call this serendipity. This Mino calls it fun.

Mino is such a special spiritual creature, he can see different realities through the eddies and winds of fate and time. Sometimes he likes to throw in the touch of confusion that changes a persons solid path into a whole new way that bears almost no similarity to what they knew. Confusion is a delightful state, thinks Mino, because it means you're open to whole new ideas and possibilities.

Mino has the most amazing ability to see a little way into the future, where possibilities branch off to different futures. He can see when a push here or a little trip there can change a humans entire life.

Of course, Mino loves fun and joy, so if he sees a part he can play, he goes into planning mode for a whole 2 seconds before plotting his course! Sometimes it will involve the friends he has made, including, most often, Tiffen the little black cat that has always been able to see him. Sometimes she grumbles, but she knows that Mino has a good heart.

The most common way for Tiffen to help is to wind her way around a humans ankles when they are trying to walk, sending them into the arms of their future spouse that they would never have met otherwise. Or hissing at Mopley, who plays his part by barking loudly and galloping off after her. Usually to trip someone, or even run through a shop for the sheer mayhem!

Once it led to 3 different people having their lives changed for the better by a dog and cat chase through a bedding store. One was the shy friends who both thought the other was too good to ask out, but ended up wrapped in an eiderdown together. Another was someone feeling so low he considered suicide until he couldn't stop laughing at the mayhem Tiffen and Mopley were creating, having a wonderful time. The last was a sales assistant who kept a cool head, managed to make a sale during the comotion and add pillowcases to the deal, all while the boss watched approvingly and who later gave him a raise. Meanwhile, Mino was the invisible guest, guiding his friends around the store like furry whirlwinds, even adding some wind and leaves to increase the confusion.

Mino also loves to use little items that can distract, and one of his favourites is a little wind up duck on wheels that he can blow in certain dirrections. It's such an odd duck that people will watch it rather than where they are going, and sometimes can be led a few streets away from their original goal to find a new life.

Little demon Misfortune and a whispering spirit are also friends who help. A whisper in the ear, and humans think it's an original thought. "why yes" they may think, "I really SHOULD go to that show tonight!". Or maybe "You know that Susie really is lovely". Misfortune may include no food so a late night run for a tandoori, when they were SURE that food wasn't off this morning! Or perhaps a sudden rip in one's pants leads to a store for a new pair and new people to meet.

Almost anything can be used, from garbage to a runaway skateboard. A book store, event fun run, or missing a train. All can lead you to new paths and adventures.

So when you find yourself flustered, confused why something happened, or things seem too coincidental, maybe it's Mino trying to make your life better!
