And he was outside, laying sideways in a puddle that was getting deeper by the minute. He had little plants growing out of him now, and his wooden body was becoming soggy from the rain. How had he ended up like this? It seemed like only yesterday that he had been at home, playing with his human. That final day with his human had been so much fun. They were playing at the park, and his human rolled him down the slide over and over again. The slide was always his favorite. Why couldn't he have been left by the slide? At least then he wouldn't be laying in this puddle.
Today made four weeks of being alone in this park. Humans would come and go, but they never paid any attention to him. He was just an old, rotting toy with plants growing out of him. Sometimes the humans would glance at him, but they would just scoff and walk away, mumbling something about how pathetic he was. Oh how he longed for their attention. He wasn't sure if his wheels could still roll, but he would sure try! If only someone cared enough to play with him.
Lightning strikes were landing closer now, and the thunder was causing the ground below him rumble harder than he had ever felt before. He had never been so terrified before this storm. Rain was falling all around him, and there was no one nearby to help. He noticed a little bird in a tree nearby, who began chirping at him as he laid there. However, the little bird only stayed for a while, and then he was alone again. The sky was growing darker now, but the rain was just as heavy. His puddle had grown and was now covering one of his eyes.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps. Someone was dashing through this storm, probably regretting their lack of umbrella. By now, his puddle was almost covering his entire body. Only a tiny section of his head managed to stay above the water. The human continued sprinting, completely oblivious to him lying in his puddle. The human ended up tripping over him, and he was kicked out from his puddle. He heard whimpering coming from the human as they stood up and wiped the mud from their pants. The human turned around and looked around in the grass until they spotted him. He was soon picked up by the human, and the little growing plants were plucked from his body. The human tucked him under their arm, and continued running.
They arrived at a house, where an older human began fussing over the one that brought him there. Towels were thrown everywhere as him and the human were dried off from the storm. He was then taken to a room filled with other toys, and the human began introducing him to all of them. There was a cadogre doll, a swampie toy, a jack in the box, and so many other friendly toys! He had a place on a shelf next to a nice looking manchu toy. This would be his new home.
The two soon became inseparable. Everywhere his human went, he was following behind. His new human was even able to fix him up. He had some new wheels, new paint, and he looked as good as new! No more plants were ever going to grow out from him. He was finally loved again, and he couldn't be happier.
