It's a generally accepted fact among humans that angels are good and demons are evil. Most people accept it without thinking to consider that rarely are things so black and white, so simple.
The next question, then, that if this idea is wrong, where did it come from? And for that, the answer is simple:The angels themselves.
This isn't to say there aren't angels that could be considered truly good, but there's also demons that could claim that. The simple reality is that angels have an agenda, and that they realized early on that being 'good' benefited that.
So they took that title so they would gain loyalty from the mortals. If the mortals followed them, they could have the power needed to win their war with hell.
And for when 'good' isn't enough, for when there's battles to win, they'll do about whatever it takes to set things right.
Even if that takes making themselves the enemy.
