I always knew that toys were alive. I always knew. I would kiss my teddy bear, and talk to my dinosaurs. They were alive and real. And when I left the house, I am sure they would have fun together. Playing with all the other toys.

And I always knew that bugs could make friends and have their own little cities. I would say hello to the ants and ask the caterpillars how the leaves tasted today. They knew what I was saying. I was sure of it.

Monsters are real, and they live in your closet. I was always so sure of that. I heard them hiding in there, breathing heavily. I always wondered if they found my closet too cluttered, or if they would eat the crumbs out of my pants pockets. Do monsters even like cookie crumbs? I was sure they did.

Super heroes were real and cars had faces. Fish could get lost, just like I did as a kid. When you are a child, all these things are true, and you would never believe differently.

But then you grow up. And people say 'You cannot think that way.' They tell you that you are silly or childish. They tell you that toys cannot move on their own. They tell you there are no monsters in the closet. They tell you that super heros are not real.
They say you have to be an adult. That you have to watch the news and see the pain that is life. They tell you that imagination does not 'pay the bills' and that 'you have to get a boring job.' Growing up tries to kill your imagination.

You know what? I chose not to listen to those people. Those people always look sad. They lost the joy in their lives. They forgot how their toys would move when they weren't looking. They stopped looking for the monsters that hide in the closet. They could no longer imagine super heros or talking bugs.
They lost their imagination.

But an old man once showed me that everyone can enjoy life and have an imagination. No matter your age.

So don't you listen to those downers. Grab as many balloons as you can hold, and soar away into the clouds.

Do you remember now too? Then sit back. Relax. And enjoy the show.
