It was a long winter...maybe the longest yet. Deidre stared out of the window, hoping for the summer kingdom to come claim the scepter and warm this this frigid hearted land.The clack of heels hitting the marble floor pulled Deidre's from her thoughts. Her mother approached with more dresses to compare. Oh, yes...the meeting with the Royal Family in an attempt to find the prince a Queen to be before he comes to the throne.

Deidre was not too worried about being chosen by the prince as he has had many, many other more beautiful women with more important titles to choose from and he has denied every one. Still, though...she did not relish the thought of spending the evening with such a beastly man. Sure they were only rumors, but it was a Kingdom wide rumor that his cruelty was unmatched by any. She did as her mother requested. She tried each dress on and twirled for her mother until she squawked that she had picked one and fled the room.

That night, they arrived before the palace and Deidre could not deny that the sight was magnificent. Servants appeared before them and escorted them inside into the foyer. Again, Deidre was stunned by how beautiful even the inside was. She had only been inside twice when she was much younger, but now that she was older she could really appreciate the beauty. A male cleared his throat and she looked ahead. They bowed, but not before she caught the look of annoyance he had given her. When she looked up, the annoyance was gone.
