despite her last name, claude is actually afraid of dogs. especially big ones (small dogs are fine so long as they don't get too close)

only daughter of renown fashion designer, julia wolfe, claude's upbringing was rather unorthodox both due to the luxury of her surroundings, and her mother's eccentric lifestyle. julia wolfe re-married five times during claude's life and had countless other, short-lived relationships. however claude never seem particularly distraught over not having a stable father figure. if anything, she never considered any of her step-fathers as a father, although she has been on good terms with all of them. hence why she legally uses her mother's last name. as a child, claude accepted life for what it was and learned to just go with the flow
aside from the money her mother's job brought in, claude was also introduced to fame early on. she saw her mother's face and name all over television and magazines - tabloids especially never ran out of stories about her romantic life. a bit later in her career, julia also begun talking about politics, openly criticizing the government and even implicitly challenging it. everyone warned her of walking on eggshells, even claude, who had no interest in politics. in grade school, claude had to grow accustomed to being stopped and asked if she was really julia wolfe's daughter. rather annoying, but not as infuriating as those who attempted to grow close to her for her mother

claude inherited her mother's interest in fashion. not necessarily in designing clothes, or even running the family company, wolfe, but rather in simply wearing interesting things and admiring fashion. despite not having the body of a model (far too short and average) claude spends hours matching outfits and buying clothes. she tends to prefer a masculine presentation, especially with formal-ish clothes such as bow ties and fedoras. but for the love of god don't ever call her a cross-dresser or drag king because she'll get angry af. despite the tomboyish disposition, and to the surprise of many, claude also does wear feminine clothes when the mood strikes her. especially overly-cutesy, cat-inspired things. (think cat stocking and huge sweaters with cats all over)

twenty years old now, claude is a second-year philosophy student at a mediocre university in greylake. and a part-time information courier. information is a lucrative market in greylake, but due to the dangers of illegal information, couriers are often employed. claude never knows anything about the information she carries and, quite frankly, does not care. she works for just about anyone and does her job without asking questions. due to her sheltered and privileged upbringing, she tends to be ignorant of the severity of the situation and takes everything with more chill than she should. claude sometimes even forgets she's dealing with literal criminals and that she herself is committing a crime. only to be viscerally reminded of the world she dragged herself into when said criminals do actual criminal stuff

the reason claude even follows through with the courier thing, despite having more than enough money to live comfortably, is to gather information regarding her mother, who disappeared in the dead of the night five months ago. seems all that talking against the government caught up to her eventually. possibly due to naivety, or possibly due to dumb optimism, claude is sure her mother is still alive and in a prison somewhere, and hopes to find out about her whereabouts through greylake's underground information network
