UNTIL DAWN

It was just a prank.

That was it - nothing more, nothing less. We all knew Hannah had a crush on Mike; it was so obvious it was painful. She never spoke up! It wasn't our fault. Sam was right though, it was cruel, yet we went on with it.

Jessica said she was looking out for Emily, said Mike was "her" man. Why did it matter if Hannah liked him? They planted the letter, leaving Hannah to find it, and hid up in the guest room. Mike stood at the door in wait for Hannah, Jessica and Emily hide under the bed, I ducked behind a partition, and Matt climbed inside the wardrobe with a camera, ready to film the prank.

It was wrong. Hannah was so excited, so eager...she played right into our hands, believing the letter had been from Mike. Mike played his role almost too well. I can't remember who started laughing first. Her face, her horror at realizing what was going on, still lingers in my mind. Everyone else was laughing, even myself, but it was replaced with a sickness that bubbled up from my stomach when she ran from the room. She didn't stop there, rushing out into the cold and snow - we didn't know. We couldn't have known.

We all followed her, trying to explain it was just a joke. It was so cold outside. Beth ran out to see what was going on and all Emily could say was that Hannah can't take a joke. Beth just got mad at us, demanding we tell her what happened. Mike tried to explain what happened and it just made her even more angry before she ran off into the forest after her twin.

That was the last we saw of them. We never saw them again. There were cops, there were so many people investigating...to no avail.

And now, a year after their disappearance, we're reuniting at the lodge. I don't know why, it feels wrong, but it would be rude to deny Josh's invitation. Chris will be there, so I can't really say no.

I just can't wait until this night is over, I just want to be done with this place. I'll have to wait until dawn.
