Viperous was weak.
His heart ached for the past, his soul heavy with guilt. What was meant for him his lover took as her own. It came as a surprise. On the day of Viperous’ sacrifice, she chose to take his place. He never wanted to offer up his life for the sun god, but he would have done it if it meant sparing her the same fate.
I came to him in his most vulnerable, most pathetic state. He wept like a child, unable to accept what has come to pass. This was his downfall, and my asset.
“Let me help you.” I whispered to him. Startled, he almost stopped crying. “I can make it go away.”
“Make what go away?”
“The pain. The sorrow. The guilt.”
He flinched, reminded of the things he desperately wants to forget. I had him.
“You don’t have to live with that burden anymore.” I said. “I can give you peace.”
“What do I have to do?” Momentarily, he stopped weeping. His emotions clouded his reason.
“Just do everything I tell you.”
“Who are you?”
“A friend.” I smiled at him. “I want to help you.”
I took a fallen twig from the ground and started drawing. A crescent moon beside an arrow pointing towards a sun.
“First, find a place of high elevation -- a place that grants you the best view of the skies. Three hours before dawn, stare at the east where the sun will rise and think of all the sweet memories you and your lover shared. And quickly when the sun starts to rise, close your eyes and bid her farewell with the words, ‘Though your presence has gone, my love for you will never die. With sweet sorrow at this dawn, I bid to you my last goodbye.’”
Viperous repeated the words, committing them to memory. He sighed. After staring at the images on the ground, he stared at me with his eyes full of grief -- and hope. Then, he put his back to me and started towards a small hill. I watched him, slowly, as he went to go up to seal his poor fate.
Those in love do mad things for each other. They call it love. I call it stupidity.
Little did he know that the moment he closed his eyes, he would never be able to open them again. I was there when the poor love of his committed a foolish act of sacrificing herself. But the sun god did not want her. And now, having escaped from his destiny, the sun god would punish him by stealing from him the means by which he sees the light.
The sun would go up but he will not see it.

"Aura"
I am alone, surrounded by
The colour blue
Inside a poem, the only
Words I ever knew
Washing my hands, of the
Many years untold
For now I am banned, my
Future is to unfold
Would you take my
Candlelight
Would you take my
Candlelight
Would you take
My candlelight
Away from me
I am blind
My eyes
