Warning: There may be spoilers ahead about the character and the anime in general. I would whole-heartedly recommend watching it first.

Nagisa Furukawa is the main female protagonist of the anime's Clannad and Clannad ~After Story~.
She is the daughter of Akio and Sanea Furukawa and once she meets Tomoyo Okazaki her story really begins.

Nagisa is a kind, sweet girl that likes to care for others. Nervous about starting school after a long illness she stands at the bottom of the hillside path where the cherry blossoms flutter.
This is where she meets Tomoyo Okazaki and learn about her strange habbit of muttering the names of food she likes to motivate herself

ANPAN!

Making friends with Tomoyo and meeting many other people she slowing ends up making the previously defunct Drama Club.
Her friendship with Tomoyo deepens and we learn of her love for the Dango Daikazoku (Great Dango Family). A family of Dango balls that all care for each other. Representing how Nagisa cares so much for her friends and family.

Nagisa would spend time helping her parents with her mums bakery, making bread and trying to help her dad hurt her mums feelings about the aweful breads that she makes.
Through Clannad Nagisa and Tomoyo's bond deepens and they help each other in different ways. By the end of Clannad, Tomoyo plucks up the courage and finally confesses to Nagisa and their relationship as a couple begins.

Clannad ~After Story~

At the start of Clannad ~After Story~ Nagisa has been enjoying time living a normal high-school life with Tomoyo and her friends. But she falls ill. She has always been plagued by illness and it strikes when she least needs it.

There is much to Clannad ~After Story~ and Nagisa is a pivotal character in its development. She has many happy moments and many sad moments. For this moment, this is where I will leave it about her ... for I do not wish to ruin one of the best anime .. and the most importants parts of a fantastic character for you.
