Watch for the Pale Snake

it wasn’t that hard, being in love. what complicated it was being in love with a demon. abigail knew better, of course she did. she was in the highest order of angels, where there were rules. rules that included not interacting with anything from hell.

yet here she was, waiting with baited breath in a garden on earth. flowers filled the area and she was always drawn to the wonderful creation. abigail had her own garden up in the heavens but there was something about the flowers of earth that she loved.

“abi,” a voice said to her left and she looked over, not able to help the smile that grew on her face. oh how she loved the demon’s voice. it always sent a shiver up her spine. the angel turned towards the one who held her affection.

“lilith, you made it,” she chirped, approaching to other woman.

“of course, sweetheart, no matter where you are on earth, i will always find you.”

that caused a flush to creep up her pale cheeks. abigail couldn’t help but giggle.

“so what has brought you here? normally this place you only call me to when you have made a big choice,” lilith inquired, if only a little apprehensive on what could possibly be on her little angel’s mind.

“ah, yes. well i have been thinking on something that is quite big..” she started, looking down some. then she looked back up at lilith and the demon could see the determination in her eyes. “i’ve decided to leave heaven.”

lilith stared at her for a moment, unsure if she was hearing correctly. “you.. want to run away?”

“it sound terrible when you say it like that! but i have been thinking about this for a while.” she looked down again, not sure how to go about this next train of thought.

and lilith knew there was something else there, by the way the angel was avoiding eye contact. though she knew it was best to let abigail go at her own pace with something like that even though it was making the demon jittery as well.

“i was hoping you would come with me. i hate being without you, when i have to go back to heaven.”

lilith smiled, which was a rare feat that only happened around abigail. “i would follow you to the ends of the world just to be by your side.”
