The trees are getting so tall now. It's very different from the copse of young trees Nataly came upon centuries ago. Back then, it was bright and sunny between the trees; now they've grown so numerous and tall that there's a thick canopy of leaves that only lets the barest amount of light reach the forest floor. It's quieter, too, the extra plant life muffling the sounds that pass through. Her forest is beautiful.
She reaches her goal, a middle-aged chestnut tree that's been having trouble bearing fruit. Nataly places her hand on its trunk, her spirit reaching for the tree's and looking for the problem. Once found, she eases it out and wraps it in healing energy. She carefully withdraws from the tree, who rustles its leaves in gratitude. The squirrels and chipmunks in this part of the forest will be well-fed next year.
The chestnut's fluttering causes it to lose a leaf; Nataly catches it as it drifts towards the ground. It's mostly yellow, only green near the stem: autumn is fast approaching. Fall and winter are Nataly's busiest seasons. She has to constantly check that the frost and cold aren't damaging the trees or hurting the animals; she reminds herself to start asking for hibernation spots so she can watch over those who sleep the season away. As for the others, she'll have to make sure everyone eats enough to withstand the chill. She can heal the damage, but it's much easier on all of them to avoid the injury in the first place.
A bird lands gently on her shoulder, bringing her news of another who needs help. Nataly gladly follows his soft chirping, always ready to lend her abilities to any forest-dweller who needs them.
