"Dove's syndrome; a curse disguised as a disease. It is an illness that has plagued me since last September. Blood flows from every pore, and I couldn't so much as part my lips without it gurgling out. What a pretty sight, huh?"

The Paralix grins, but there is no trace of this ailment. His teeth are a dazzling white, and there is no red stain.

A door opens to room 406 and a nurse clad in blue scrubs walks in, dragging an IV stand with her, equipped with an empty bag. The stand is different though. The rack is low and barely a foot from the ground. The one beside the bed is just the same.

"Time for a change already?"

he questions, looking over at the woman with a pleasant smile. She nods, bending over and fiddling with the instrument at the bottom of the used blood bag after clipping the end shut. The nurse then clips the mechanism onto the bottom of the new bag, and stands back to reveal that it looks vaguely like a typical IV drop.

"I'm ready when you are."

He still smiles, and again the nurse nods curtly. She removes the thin tube running from the IV in his arm to the old blood bag, and as quickly as she possibly can, attaches it deftly to the new and empty bag. The whole process may have taken upwards of 20 seconds.

"Demasiado lento,"

he laughs, and wipes under his nose. Blood seeped down and past his upper lip,

"Too slow, Ms Nurse."
