The soft voice of a child tickled the mother's ears. Looking carefully around the corner, the mother saw her daughter looking in wonder at the newborn boy, her eyes wide and mouth pursed in concentration. The mother smiled and looked on, enraptured by the scene.

"I hope heaven was nice," the toddler continued, tilting her head to the side while the baby squinted and pursed his lips. "There are lots of angels there, right?"

The mother tiptoed towards the pair, face beaming with love.

"Did you see Mia in heaven?" Her daughter's voice asked, causing the mother to stop in her tracks.

She had not told her daughter that Mia had died. Yes, the toddler knew her name, but nothing about what had happened. Just that one moment mommy was pregnant, and the next she wasn't. Her daughter's question felt like shattered glass in her chest.

But the question was out of curiosity, and innocent in nature. After a brief moment of shock and the reminder of her deceased daughter, the mother smiled. It was best that her toddler remembered, and remembered the good pieces.

The mother walked to her children and kissed them both on the head, causing her newborn boy to struggle slightly in his sleep. "I'm sure he saw her in heaven, baby girl. After all, Mia is our angel now."
