In Their Own Words: The Costume is inspired by Amaterasu, the main character in the artistically crafted video game of Ōkami. This entry is more of a representation of the in-game play, rather than a scene or snapshot of the character.
Besides the obvious imagery in this picture, there are some used items that probably need explaining for those who have never played the game. The Black Paintbrush item in the far back of this avatar is to represent the key "superpower" of this heroine, as the use of ink and brush ultimately impacts the environment in the game and is relied upon to keep the story moving forward. The Elegant Oriental Urn foreground is here to, more or less, represent the neat running animations of the main character, and the fantastic symbolism and art of nature in the game. And lastly, the Dragon Breath and the Bonfire tattoos are being used here because I couldn't find anything that resembled the default weapon in the game, and technically Amaterasu is always pictured or is remembered as being on fire. Besides, I couldn't find any other method to mimic her famous markings either.
