Upcoming Monthly Subscription and Gold Account Changes + More!
Second, we'd like to give a heads up on an upcoming change that will simplify how monthly subscriptions work with Gold Accounts - and, we hope, make them more intuitive to understand. With this update, subscriptions will no longer add 1 month of GA time to your account. Instead, your account will be considered a Gold Account, and get all the perks, while you have an active subscription - and any existing GA time on your account will not be used up while your subscription is active.
For example, let's say you have a Gold Account which expires in 3 weeks, and no subscription. If you start a monthly subscription, you will get to enjoy having a Gold Account for the entire time your subscription is active, and the GA time left on your account will remain paused at 3 weeks. Then, if you stop having a subscription, it will automatically switch back to using up those 3 weeks of Gold Account you had left before you started the subscription.
This update will be released on Monday, February 8th. After the update is released, this change will be in effect immediately for new subscriptions, and will take effect on your next billing cycle for existing active subscriptions.
Finally, we are almost done implementing a way to upgrade or downgrade an existing subscription. without having to cancel and re-subscribe. Please look forward to this feature after the February 8th update if all goes well.

Could we have a similar update to the Buy CSC page as well? I can't figure out how to remove or change my payment method. I can only add a new one, and it doesn't save over the old one so I have to add a 'new' payment method every single time.

@Morticia Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate it genuinely :) I understand why the upcoming change would make you think that, but doing away with GA medals is not something we've even discussed the possibility of, and that idea has nothing to do with the upcoming change, so please don't worry. We're just changing the way subscriptions work with GAs - mostly to make it less confusing when you start a subscription while already having a GA, and to make various edge cases impossible (for instance, after this change, it won't be possible for someone's GA to expire before their subscription does and cause them to lose benefits before the subscription time is up)

As explained in a previous comment, all cancelling means is that it will expire on your renewal date instead of renewing. Your subscription will still remain active, including all perks, until the end of the full month of time. This is also explained on the confirmation before cancelling an active subscription. I know it's pretty unclear otherwise - I am currently working on an FAQ for the subscriptions page that will clarify this and a bunch of other things, to help with that issue!

@Bug Thanks for the clear explenation. I understand why you are promoting the subscriptions so much. It means a steady income for Subeta. The problem is, my income is not steady. So I won't always be able to pay for my subscription. The moment I have enough money, I buy a 12 month GA medal and I don't have to worry about anyting for a whole year. And this is the reason why in real life, I no longer have subscriptions to megazines and newspapers anymore. Montly payments can sometimes become a drag.
And for this reason I am very happy that the GA medals are still in service. I hope they will never been taken away.

@MarchOnOff I'm sorry to hear that. Just so you're aware, Braintree (the system we use to process card payments) is owned by Paypal, so your payment information would still be processed through the same company either way.

Though if you are buying GA medals for yourself, the subscription may be cheaper for you, and also works with Paypal :) The GA-only subscription is only $3/month, as opposed to 500 CSC ($5 value) for the 1-month GA medal. For those same $5, you could get GA perks + 250 CSC + a special item on the Quester plan.

If you subscribe, then cancel before 30 days are up, does it still count as an active subscription? If not, doesn't that take away Gold Account time the person ought to get?
