Bottled Delirium

You may have noticed some new information on the item popups, as well as the trades :)! We are now collecting data on the average prices of items, that will be displayed in various areas of the site :D

Over the next few days, this will be improved to show both the daily average (as in, just today) and the monthly average (so if someone trys to increase the value of an item today, you'll be able to tell ;))

this is AWESOME with a capital AWESOME. This makes it SO much easier to control my spending, see what item I can afford at the cost it is worth. I appreciate this. very. much.

Cool. Now we just need the rarity numbers back.
0

Rayen

Well For quests it's nice, lets you know a head of time if it's worth to take it or not. It was a big help on mine today.
0

Bastit

Really cool idea. I'm agree with put the rarity number instead of just "Rare". :3
0

ChaosRocket

Thanks, that's awesome! But please bring back the specific rarity number instead of having it just say "rare" or whatever!
0

Enthrall

Thats brilliant. It helps alot. Thanks so much!
0

Griffinlover

Best idea ever. It is so helpful when doing quests. You can see the price of things before looking them up, saving you time and effort!
0

lull

i just realised that came off soundind a bit harsh <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_happy_sweatdrop.gif" border="0" /> i didn't mean it to, sorry
0

lull

to be honest I can't really see how this is going to help anyone. people who price extra low will bring the average down low them buyers will insist on everything being cheaper. but maybe this is the idea of this new feature, is it designed to try and reduce the amount items are worth? <br />
<br />
If the aim is to help players not get ripped off by unscrupulous types it would be better to make more reminder note type things like the one when you go to give an item to someone. or maybe a further step in the buying process. So say if you are buying something over 500k you get an are you sure you want to make this purchase or some such note.just an idea
0

this is a good idea,i do hope you do the same in the plushie shop,as some of the items in there are very over priced,

I'm not sure I like this very much. Another site I played on for a very long time, started this same process. It eventually worked it's way into the trading area of the game. In every trade it offered the seller 3 prices to sell their item for. Sellers no longer had the option of putting their own price tag on the items and buyers always wanted to pay the lowest option while sellers wanted at least the average amount or the higher amount. I quit that game as this totally ruined any opportunity for making a profit.<br />
<br />
I'd really hate to see this develop into the same amount of control over sellers as the other site <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />
0

Nestly

<strong>Nestly:</strong> That... is totally awesome. x3 I'm sure it'll make things a lot more convenient.
0

Jenflower

I hope people will understand this....for instance, the 1 Month Gold Account Medal is currently showing an Average Price of 900K (which we all know is not the normal price for it). I would have to assume that someone threw a medal in their user shop today, which is why the average price is showing as 900k. <br />
<br /><br />I would hate to lose a sale on Trades for the actual going price for a GA medal because they think 1.8 - 2 million (or whatever) is too high due to that 900K average price that is listed there. (I guess this is what Earthen was talking about below)
0

Lindsie

Although I'm going to continue to go by my own methods of selling, I'm sure this will be helpful to many people, especially the buyers.<br />
It's refreshing to see a website staff genuinely want to protect its users from being ripped off; with /fake/ currency.=, no less.<br />
It shows that Subeta really is a COMMUNITY, and not just some pet site.
0

Lynelle

I really just have to say that I appreciate all that you do to protect your users from people who are not honest in their transactions. You are much more thoughtful and attentive towards your users than any other site I've played on. I hope that never changes.

<br />
Do I mistrust the autopricer? Yes I do. I used it a couple of times and when I checked, my items were NOT the lowest in shops. I started hand pricing and my items sell MUCH faster now.
0

Isabelly

LOVE THIS!!! Thank you !!!1
0

Allira

I'm not sure that this works. The item Dove for example - has a listed average price of 1 million. There is one dove in the shops for 1 million. Two are priced in trades - one for 1.9 million and the other for 4 million. So how does an average price of 1 million happen? Also so people have items priced for a ridiculously high price (a 5 million sp item priced at 20 million) is the highest and lowest price removed when averages are totalled?
0

BeachBum

I like it as a guide. Besides...it's still up to you what you're willing to accept for your item..lowest price, average price, or exactly what you want. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
0

Templar

-nods a bit- It's alright.... It's just a little strange, since 'Average' would be lowest if it was a quicksale at 1mill without other prices to compare it to. I hope it can be changed to include trade prices as well.
0

DJ

Yeah.. this would probably work better if it weren't a days average but maybe a last 10 minutes or last hour average. I can just see it now, "Well today's average says 50k so I'm not paying 3m for a Reborn Potion @:!"
0

User not found:

Actually, nevermind Earthen. I get it now. *headdesk*<br />
<br />
Disney can be rather slow.
0

Templar

*1mill, sorry.
0

Templar

I'm not stupid, Disney, but it could drastically affect the price of rare items. People would want to pay the 2mill instead of the actual price of the item.
0

User not found:

Earthen. Does the word average mean anything to you?
0

User not found:

ohhh this is going to be sooo good ! What a super neat idea !! This is sure going to help with shopping...which is my life line on here ... heheehe
0

Templar

But what about the people who are affected by others who undercut to sell an item worth... 2.5mill for 1mill in their shops? Won't it hurt them if their item has 'Average Price: 1,000,000' on it?
0

User not found:

This is a cool idea, even with the flaws pointed out by other people... it's getting there. Good job, anyway.
0

Kyrre

Funny thing is, over the past year I've been keeping track of prices of all collectables (beanbags, plushies, etc) I don't have in my collections in an excel spreadsheet documenting the lowest, highest and current prices that I see when I'm online.<br />
<br />
This cuts some of my work in half. Thank you!! <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_happy_sweatdrop.gif" border="0" />;<br />
<br />
(I do statistics for a living, I can't help bringing work into my fun. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" />)
0

Irtha

I must admit it is very useful in during the quests - I can see the price now, without searching <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
0

Composer

Is this just based off of user shop prices? 'Cause I think for this to work, you'd have to include trade prices as well... and it really should be the average, not lowest.
0

Tris

<b>Quote:</b><blockquote style="padding:5px; line-height:15px; background-color: #FAFFFF; border: 1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia; font-size: 10;">And it'll also help curb that annoying "I'll buy out all the cheapy items and artificially inflate the price by millions and then screw people over!"</blockquote><br />
<br />
<br />
That's exactly why this was done.
0

Ginger

Ariel I know what you mean - if someone sells a rare item by chance or bad luck (or choice) through their shop for 1mil and the item is really worth much more I can imagine the buyers sMails to sellers of that item at the current trade value price right now. It is a good way to see that a great snipe has occurred though =D
0

Kishi_Kat

I really do think that, once it has time to collect the info, it will actually be pretty handy. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" /> Don't be too quick off the mark to judge this. <br />
<br />
And I think a couple people missed the point...it's not a demand that you price it at a certain price, it's a -guide- to help people see what the average -is- for that item.<br />
<br />
So that means if you have an item that really is worth 80K, and you price it at 80K, the people will mouseover, see that the average is 80K and go "Oh, ok! That's a great price for this item!" and buy it. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" /> And it'll also help curb that annoying "I'll buy out all the cheapy items and artificially inflate the price by millions and then screw people over!" (Especially when it still stocks in official shops...)
0

Ariel

The only issue I see is really rare items that are much more than 1 mil, if one gets thrown in at 1 mil, what happens over the next few weeks? Will the average just stick at 1 mil? Or will it somehow show, "above 1 mil" or something?
0

Inthebr0wn

hmm i suppose i understand..anything that says 1,000,000 at the moment is probably worth a lot more.. Maybe i should stick some legendaries in my shop for 1,000,000<img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" /> only kidding
0

hermes

I'm just gonna sit back and wait for hell to break loose with this <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />. There's always a hatch, no matter what xD.
0

Synbar

Oh, too cool! Once it has a chance to get working, this will be great, thanks, guys!
0

Ariel

I think NOTHING has the average right now because this has only been up for one day. So there's only one number to base it on, the current one.
0

Crystle

Well this is pretty interesting. o.o I like it :3
0

Neori

*cough* I just wish I could...use trades.. *cought*
0

Ginger

If I understand this then, things that never go into user shops and therefore never get into the listed price database will always have the not enough data displayed? Is that right?
0

Extract

wow, that's a really good idea. thanks.
0

Neori

Thats pretty cool <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" /> <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_happy.gif" border="0" />
0

Keith

And also, if it says something is 1,000,000 that means at some point, there was an item in user shops today at that price <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />
0

Ariel

This doesn't change prices, it shows people what they are and what the range is, for items under 1 mil.
0

TIME

Wow... another example of Keith listening to the users (there was a thread about this just yesterday) <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" /> Very nice
0

Keith

Guys - this is prices coming from the <strong>user shops</strong> and user prices. We don't choose these, or put the up, simply collect them.
0

Azedo

Awesome idea, I love it ;3 thanks for adding it staff!
0

Inthebr0wn

Trying to control the Inflation too much.. Its suppose to go up and down<img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" />.. Sticking a lower price on items that are worth more probably aren't going to help. Maybe if you release more it might.
0

Ariel

Guys, I don't think this is for pricing items specifically. It's so you can see if something that was very cheap yesterday went up drasticly, you'll be able to tell right away. It doesn't mean, "price your item at this" or "this is where to get the cheapest one".<br />
<br />
It's a ratio. And kind of pointless at the moment, because it doesn't have day-to-day stats yet. It needs a few days to get info.
0

Golden_Eyes

wow, that's a really awesome idea! Thanks so much Keith!
0

Hosui

they kinda are....cause they all seem to say "not enough data" ....
0

User not found:

This is made of win <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" /><br />
<br />
Mostly it's about the pure convenience...you don't know how many items I look at and go "Wow, sweet, but about where is the price range of this thing?"
0

Xilicia

I think it is a good idea but I think all items that sell for over 1 mil should be left out of it.
0

Rayen

They're will always be undercutters, nothing anyone can do about that. People can't wait for anything they have to have the points NOW or never.
0

Hosui

i think it will help a bit on trades... where if an average price IS given for that item and the user just writes OFFER in their description... well now you have something to base your offer on
0

Tammy

I stick to the old adage supply and demand, and thats how I price most of my items. Thankfully this dosen't apply to UB items yet, but all it is gonna seem to take is one undercutter pricing something at 1 mil in their shop and people will assume we all have to sell at 1 mil.
0

Rayen

Here's a good example of the System: Veil 950,000 the trades are over a mill, some near 2-3. They are in shops for a flat mill. saves you 200k or more.
0

Eelric

I love it so far...<img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" /> I would like to see it list on my wishlist items... I am constantly looking for anything that might have gone buyable or dropped in priced recently on there would be excellent info on it...<img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
0

Ariel

No, Keith has said that it's the average of the lowest price over a time period. Not an average like the autpricer average (i.e. useless).
0

Mourningstar

*sighs* Okay great. Help those who are buying to not get cheated. Just because it's the average price, still doesn't mean you have to sell it at that price . . . And if a seller is stubborn enough and the item is rare enough, listing the average price really isn't going to do much. <br />
<br />
Of course, I'm probably wrong, but that's just my first impression. I'm curious as to how this is all going to work though. With people desperate to sell for pure, only to find out their items are worthless . . . hmm.
0

Hosui

YEah...then i would be able to see right away if something from my wishlist in in user shop....rather than having to copy and paste all the item names into shop search
0

MidnightShadow

Wow, thank you! Hopefully there will be less false inflation now <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
0

User not found:

Seems pretty cool might deter some people but I doubt that LOL. I wish that we had a place to find out what UB's should be priced at instead of waiting for someone to price it at what they want in the trades. I have loads of things that I dont even know the price of because no one in trades has them priced either. * yes I am a bit new but not too new to get cheated* I only accept on UB trades that I dont know the price of something if they offer something I really really want. Anyways Kudos for the ever helping staff things are improving so much lately!!
0

Rayen

Thanks for this staff,really! It will help a majority of people not get kicked in the bum when it comes to prices. So much for Overprices.
0

Tammy

I don't much care for this idea at all, the average price is just that an average, not the lowest price or even the current price, and some people will hold this as gospel and think that should be the price of the item. This is going to make trading a nightmare.
0

Tonks

Rammie; I feel the same as you... people who take care of their things are getting with not so useful things. Presently i feel like a little child that can't do anything on it's own...<br />
<br />
diana1096; it would be awful if it was working on the main shops... I mean we would see the Ub on an instant, no good!<br />
<br />
Hosui; that would be nice to have it in whish list too, I mean the over thing not like in trades...<br />
0

User not found:

@RobPankow23 - No, I didn't. I never even included anything referring to just the newbies. And when I was new here, I had some common sense. And just a little of that is enough. I find it remarkable how you managed to twist my post to something that's not even close to what I posted. The key ingredients of falling for "false" inflation are greed and no common sense, not being new.
0

Sekhmet

Hooray! ^^ Excellent idea, Keith and Staff! It's a big smack in the face to all those greedy people in the trades!
0

RobPankow23

Rammie - So basically your saying that you think new people deserve to get cheated because they don't know any better?
0

Hosui

I wish i could scroll over the items on my wishlist to see what their average today price was
0

Taylby

I've also noticed lately that the official prices in the description are quite outdated - do these every get updated to reflect inflation?

I love it. Now I can stop keeping track! Too bad this doesn't work in the main shops. =P
0

Tris

The one Item in my trades that has enough data is actually correct....so I don't know. I'll have to see when everything's data is gathered.
0

Sweetie

I only hope it will stop players from putting really cheap items in the trades that can be sold in their shop instead .
0

User not found:

Personally, I can't see any good in this. Greedy people without common sense will always exist and get owned, no matter how many warnings are given, no matter how much help they recieve. Those people will always find ways to buy cheap items for millions.
0

RobPankow23

0nyx- I understand what you are saying, but this is no different than the auto pricer in shops. Do you distrust the auto pricer also?
0

Taylby

I've noticed that the "average price" is actually the lowest price - kind of misleading.

I like it, but some parts are completely wrong, out of question x.x.. My Fiah is now listed at 1m, there are none priced in trades and none buyable in shops, at some point there were none in trades and when they started popping up, they were 30m x.x<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I would bet that UB items that really don't have a price might not have been factored in correctly. Technically 1m and 1 sp is UB. So that might be what that's all about. It will probably need some tweeking, but I think once the kinks are worked out, it will serve it's purpose well.

It's still gathering data I think. Keith said it would take a few days to get an average going and get things working the way they are intended. I wouldn't rely on the prices just yet.

i for one will be disregarding this so called average price and set my prices on the availability of the item...

the price you are listing as the average price is NOT the average price ... it is in fact the lowest price and as such should read LOWEST PRICE... <br />

0

jl77us

Very very very awesome idea. Thank you so much for such a great site to play on.
0

Onyx_635

Maybe a good idea in theory, but I don't know how it will work in practice. From what I've seen, site prices are really volatile all the time. It's not like average prices stay anywhere near the same for any length of time. Showing an average price and having people try to guage what to pay for a trade from that-- well I don't see how it's practical. Mind you I've only been here a short time but what trades I have had up have been all over the place, price-wise--everything changes because of giveaways, Christmas Presents being opened, etc. This might have people thinking they're being ripped off in a trade when the prices really HAVE changed that much in a few days. But it might make people more leery to bid on trades, or have them offering what will amount to undercutter prices. I don't think it's good for the economy. The item rarities are already shown, that should be enough to help people make choices about the items they want to buy/accept for trade.
