When you imagine you're an astronaut, you conjure in your mind a peaceful image of a planet or two, some meteors slowly floating by, stars twinkling happily in the background. As you continue to picture the vast galactic landscape, perhaps sounds start to factor into the formula, but what sounds? What sounds does one hear in a place where there is no life aside from your own? All the sounds you have learned to associate with the world, and none of them apply. Well, in this imaginary scene, the only sound to be heard is the deafening rush of a meteor rocketing through the heavens, shrouded in flame due to it's momentum.
But these flames are white.
The surface of the rock is hard to see through the blaze shielding it from the outside, but you can faintly see the muddled dark cobalt of the marbled stone. You blink, and it's passed your vision in an instant. The rock plows through the galaxy as it makes it's way towards a planet, almost as if it was aimed there. The meteor has become a pulsing, writhing mass of molten plasma by the time it impacts the red earth of the planet, creating a large crater with the force of it's landing.
Upon closer inspection, the meteor is nothing more than an opaque glob of melted stone, shuddering as if exhausted after it's long trip through the universe. Then, as if it was originally alive and then died, the quivering stops and the plasma is motionless. The surface cracks, and from within emerges a creature not of this land. It's skin is the same cobalt marble the meteorite had been, and it is also shrouded in the alabaster flames that had covered the rock in it's flight.
Something had happened inside that stone as it pelted through the skies, something that was never supposed to occur, and the creature knew it. It had never wanted to exist in this way, didn't know how to function in this world. All of the confusion and pressure of this consciousness, this feeling of the impossible weight of a life that should have never come to be.
That was until it met one of the inhabitants of the world she had awoken on. The creature stood on two legs, looking down at the alien from a small distance, striken by it's appearance. Then, the taller being walked foward, and kneeled in front of the outsider, and sounds came from the taller one's mouth that it didn't understand. With time, the alien grew to accept it's fate, and chose a name for it... no, herself, Caelthynea.(Kyle-tin-ay-uh, Kyle for short.) She learned that the creature who found her was a human being, and her name is Squonk, and they live together on Subeta.
Squonk showed her the creatures of this planet, and she found she was able to copy the appearance of one she was partial to, so she wouldn't be quite so foreign and out of place. However, she would always bear the colors of the rock that bore her and the waves of flame that shielded her as she traveled through the atmosphere, as a reminder that she was different, that she was never intended to exist and as such her life was a treasure to be cherished.
