Welcome

Known by many as the "Steadfast Holy City", Luxos Noaa is the world's oldest independent state, having seen countless societies rise and fall over the centuries. It is home to countless artifacts of great religious importance - while some are on display in the public areas of the Tower, many others are preserved within the religious compound's depths. The tower and its surrounding fortress are the headquarters of the Church of Tobiathan, and it's where all political matters happen. The Tower is the oldest part of the fortress; most of its interior is dedicated to the training rituals all future High Priests must pass. Supposedly, the most important religious artifacts, such as the original Book of Origins, are kept at the top of the Tower, in a room that can only be entered by the High Priest (or High Priests in training). There is a vast library on the ground floor of the fortress, but rumor has it that there's a secret, underground library filled to the brim with banned books. The fortress is also home to the Sentinel's barracks. The Sentinels are a small, but elite force of Eyerth-wielding soldiers dedicated to protecting Luxos Noaa's independence, as well as protecting Nuxos Noaa's allies and interests abroad. In times of war, the Sentinels have been dispatched to take back holy sites that the Church of Tobiathan believes it should own.

Church of Tobiathan

this is where I talk about how messed up the church is. the high priest title is passed down from generation to generation, aka this damn church has been controlled by the niles family for a bajillion years. gender doesn't matter, there've been plenty of male and female high priests. to be ready to take over as the next high priest, trainees must undergo a rigorous training routine for several years, designed to enhance their senses and control over eyerth, with the ultimate goal of being able to communicate directly with tobiathan. tobiathan is the enigmatic god of light, who preaches balance and respect between humans and nature. should the world come close to destruction, the high priest will instruct the world how to save itself by following the book or origin, a collection of texts passed down from the humans who made first contact with tobiathan. the current high priest is renata niles, who spends half her time in luxos noaa, and half in the city of peruthias, where she is a member of its governing body, the order. notable past high priests include her father, percival, the 53rd high priest, tamika niles-barr, the 38th high priest and the one who led the invasion of peruthias and reclaimed the throne of tobiathan, and theryn luxia, the founder of the church of tobiathan as we know it today, as well as the city founder for luxos noaa
