Hummingbird Griffin

Hummingbird Griffins are extremely rare and not as well known as their larger counterparts. They are about the size of your palm and feed off nectar or petals of flowers. They have boundless energy and enjoy socializing. Most live for centuries and blend in as hummingbirds or other tiny species, however some learn to control other forms such as eagles, deer, or their favorite, humans. To learn a new form they must give a portion of their life away. Yet they retain their abilities in the second form such as wings, claws, and sharper senses.

Unlike most superheros, Alisier has never been touched by tragedy. He has never known death, or violence, or the things of life that twist a soul and darken its light. When he wanted to choose human as his second choice, he was urged away from it. Humans lived in a vile world that would corrupt even the purest of spirits he was told. Yet Alisier paid no mind, infatuated with the lights, sounds, and life that pulsed from the human world.
When he finally gained his form, he found a place in the human world to belong. He made friends easily, blended in well, and saved the little money he had by making a little tree his home instead. Life was as it should be and Alisier discovered he loved humans more when they smiled. However as all fairytales go, they end sooner than you wish, and Alisier finally had a taste of the human world his Elders described. Strolling down the streets at night, he was shocked to see humans beating another. Was this a ritual of some sort? But the human was screaming for help, and Alisier was moving before he could think things through.
Defeating the ones attacking the other human was hard enough being unaccustomed to the style of fighting, but add in the fact they had weapons and Alisier nearly paid for this reckless experience with his life. But it was the most exhilarating feeling when he was able to bring a smile back to the human’s face as the attackers fled. It was in that moment, Alisier decided he wanted to always protect those smiles.
No matter how foolish or impossible the goal, this is what drives Alisier now.
