"The year is 2342. There is no major cities, no cars, and the whole Earth is a desert wasteland. The polar ice caps have melted, surging up the water. Every continent has been submerged except for the territory that used to be the United States. There was a massive drought, and it had never rained for over 100 years. With no food, no shelter, people have returned to their true, primal forms. Their Ki, the very essence of life, has grown stronger and they have learned to control it, expand it, reduce it and bend the very elements of the Earth. Among the chaos, 4 masters of Ki united the people, establishing the order of the ninja. They called their order the Akubane Clan: the hidden flame clan. Many generations later, a boy named Kai Urameshi was born, and that is where we begin our story."

Kai Uremeshi was the son of the two great generals named Renji and Sakura Urameshi. As well as being in born in a rank of high power, he was also a direct descendant of one of the founder of the Flame Clan. He was born the be a leader, trained by the best, educated by the greatest minds and philosophers of the time. He was to be the leader of the Hidden Flame Clan if his older brother was killed, which was getting to be more and more likely as a new threat faced the Flame Clan: a band of traitors who called themselves the Apostles of the Stars.

The Apostles were a group of rogues who were banished from teh Clan after they tried to usurp power but were defeated. The kindness in their leaders heart prevented them from being executed. For many years they lay hidden, until recently where they posed a new threat. They now brandished a new technique, a technique that put their opponents in a virtual reality that they couldn't break out of. This technique claimed many victims, Kai's parents included. Under these threats, the new leader, Kai's brother, arranged for an elite band of units to be gathered, including Kai, to raid the Apostle's base and murder the leaders. With their leaders murdered the clan would attack and defeat the Apostles...

Kai and a band of 50 other men rode out a starry night. This group was small, yet deadly. However, one night, the group was found and captured. All but 15 of the men, including Kai, were brutally murdered. Kai begged and pleaded that the leader of the Apostles take him as hostage and let the others go, and he would be compliant. The leader took his deal, and Kai began giving him information. However, Kai was not a traitor. He was fiercely loyal to the clan, and he swore a blood oath that he would risk his life for the Clans greater good. One night, his heart beating against his chest, he found the secret scroll that revealed the secret to Apostle's technique. And that was when he rode off, a single figure under a starry sky.
-------------------------------"I have to hurry, I can save the clan with this scroll!" Kai's heart beat against his chest, ready to explode. The beads of sweat steadily appeared on his face. He knew that the Apostle's would be going after him soon. "Hurry, Kyuubi, we can almost make it!" His small companion, a rare nine-tailed spirit fox who sacrificed two of his tails to save Kai as a child ran next to him.

It happened in an instant, one moment they were alone and the next they were surrounded by the enemy. Kai summoned a lightning strike and took one down. He formed the signs that channeled his Ki and suddenly fire erupted from his hands engulfing his enemies. But there were too many, and he was only one. He knew his days were numbered, and he only had one chance. He took out the scrool and threw it. Instantly, Kyuubi jumped and caught it. "I want you to run to the village, and take this to my brother. I know my days are numbered, this will be my final act. Dont let my death be in vain. Please kyubbi, hurry, and tell my brother, I love him. Eventually the enemy was able to get through the flames and they killed him.

When Kai's brother saw kyuubi dashing with the note, he new instantly what had happened. Overcome with both grief and a new sense of action, he told the instruction of how to break the illusion to his army and they rose of. Crushed with the might of the Clan of Flames, the Apostles were all defeated for good. All those who escaped had been tracked and found.

The day of Kai's Funeral
There the Flame Clan wept upon the funeral pyre for their greatest comrade had just given up their life to help rid them of the enemy that threatened to wipe them out. One by one each to a solemn walk, layed down some of their best heirlooms to protect him, and said their final prayers. As they stood there the clan leader gave his prayer. "We have lost one of our best comrades today, but because of his noble sacrifice, our village will continue to blossom and prosper. Let it be heard throughout the ages, that my brother, Kai Urameshi is one of the noblest ninjas to have ever lived, may he rest in peace..." He went down, picked up the torch and lit the funeral pyre on fire. Goodbye... brother. And there, out of he blue a rainbow appeared. It was a miracle, for now in a place where there had been a drought for years, here stood a rainbow. Then, the clouds darkened, and it rained. Then every single ninja, from smallest to the clan leader, truly wept from their hearts.
