The War

It was with a heavy heart and crushed soul that Ryousuke, the Twilight Telenine, sat down beside the body of his dead brother. The Great War had taken him. Stolen Sotaro from him. He had scarified himself to save Ryousuke. But that was not how it was gonna end. That would not be Ryousuke's story. He would not be the one responsible for his brother’s death, and not do anything to change the ending. When the white flag was raised, he took his business to the closest town and found a black sorcerer willing to do what he asked, and had Sotaro brought back from the dead. He looked at his older brother with fear in his eyes, worried he had disrespected him, worried he had dishonoured his memory by bringing him back. But the red eyes who met his twilight ones, were strong and filled with gratitude. Dying on the battlefield in a war he didn’t support, that would not be Sotaro. After The Great War, the only one able to bring out the same amount of passion, excitement and energy in Ryousuke, was his new partner Roja. He was finally able to trust a human. Some nights he sits by the campsite, watching the stars, wondering, exactly what’ll be the end in his story. He started to feel a change inside of him, and sometimes he could see a change in his reflection as well. It look like a Telenine from some sort of nightmare.

The Call of the Sea

”What are you thinking about”, asked Charon. Ryousuke turned his head and looked at the Barghest. Those red eyes glowed towards him. “N-nothing”, the Telenine answered. He turned his head again and looked towards the sunrise. They had made camp up on a hill last night. Down on the other side of the forest he could see the sea. The sea and the sunrise, it made him shiver. “No, nothing at all”. Charon smirked and put his head down again. Ryou looked over at his friend. They had fought in the war together. Charon had decided to stay with him after peace was made. The war had changed the young Telenine, according to the dark and bloodthirsty Barghest. Ryou knew. He could see the nightmarish reflection in the water. The sea, it was calling for him. He sighed and looked the other way again. He couldn’t leave his brother again, or the friends he made. Again he looked down at the sea, like he couldn’t stop himself. He has to go. It was everything he had ever wanted to do, and no war was gonna stop him now. He was gonna get a ship and a crew and start a new chapter in his life. “I’ll make the arrangements”, the Barghest mumbled with closed eyes. Ryousuke smiled. They had come to know each other quite well. “Sotaro will understand”, he continued. “I will make him proud”, Ryou said before he stood up. The wind played with his fur and a spark was born in his heart. Freedom and adventure awaited.
