Early life
Childhood
Jeza Ramsey was born in Schöndorf an der Rückstau, Germany, on March 24, 1983, the only lamb of Werner and Helga Ramsey. The village was secluded and largely unheard of prior to his later murders, but appeared as a time capsule for a century earlier especially in regards to practices, although it had at least one theater and music store that carried modern entertainment. The village was also very small, and the tight-knit community barely had a population over 600 at the time.
Ramsey lived with his parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandfather in one household. Survivors who knew the family claimed that Ramsey was "off" since birth, especially noticeable in childhood when he began "taking his imaginary friends too seriously." It was later believed that he had undiagnosed, untreated very early-onset schizophrenia and was responding to hallucinations.
Problems in school
Ramsey was described by a surviving school staff member as "constantly distracted" and reported that his work was often incomplete or contained strange answers. Ramsey was the victim of bullying by his classmates due to his perceived odd behavior; among said odd behavior were frequent complaints that "mangled bodies were being stored in the classroom." His peers would often mock and laugh at him, escalating to physical abuse, to which he retaliated. Ramsey frequently received suspensions for fighting, and eventually was expelled early on in secondary school.
Crimes
In 1996, Schöndorf Police arrived at the Ramsey residence after other locals had noticed their disappearance and reported it. Authorities arrived to find a bloodbath throughout the house, with nine of the ten residents having been murdered, and the tenth, being Ramsey, was not present, though the main suspect. It was reported that notably, both Ramsey's mother and father had been fully decapitated. The disappearance of the fugitive sparked an immediately search, but over the course of five years Ramsey evaded capture while continuing to commit murders. He seemed to kill indiscriminately, as the authorities could not determine a commonality between victims who were adults of all ages and sexes. The motivation for Ramsey's killings did not seem sexual in nature, as none of the victims had been violated, nor had even had their clothes removed. The once sleepy and picturesque village was shaken to its core as many residents would go missing and would later be found dead. Authorities were frustrated by the lack of leads, and the residents were frustrated by the perceived police incompetence in apprehending the killer.
First arrest
A breakthrough came in 2001 when police captured Ramsey while he was licking the blood of a victim at the scene of his then-latest murder. An anonymous officer reported that it was "frightening how he didn't resist at all." While being detained, Ramsey received an evaluation, and subsequently deemed not guilty by reason of insanity and placed in the village's mental institution. Later that same day, it was reported that two nurses were found dead and Ramsey had escaped the institution. The search for Ramsey began again, and to the horror of the village, the murders seemed to double in rate.
Ramsey was spotted at the village's music store, where he stole a CD player, batteries and a CD in exchange for the cashier's life, who reported the incident. There were few leads and many murders as authorities desperately searched for the killer who was dwindling the village's small population, although it was later determined that Ramsey was not responsible for all the killings, but another murderer had joined in on the bloodbath. The second murderer was believed to be his accomplice and possible girlfriend, Roxxy Ramirez. The rural village was cut off from the rest of the world and received no help in wrangling the killers, who sent local police on a wild goose chase over the next decade as a third of the village's population was culled.Institutionalization
_____Main article: Massacre of the Schöndorf InstituteIn 2011, Ramsey was abruptly discovered and restrained as he checked himself into the mental institution that he had previously escaped from. There were deep gashes in his cheeks cut to his mouth, which he was treated for and placed under heavy restraints, including a muzzle, straitjacket, and bed straps. During his stay at the institution, Ramsey was administered a variety of medications, was asked to participate in several therapies and interviews, but was ultimately uncooperative, and recovered evidence suggests he had been scheduled for a lobotomy as a last resort.
Police arrived to find a trail of blood and bodies of staff members and patients alike, all of whom had their throats slit, with the main suspect being Ramsey who was once again missing. The room which Ramsey had stayed in had a broken window, though it is not assumed he escaped through it. Not much evidence could be gathered from the event, and with the loss of the entire staff, the institute was closed and abandoned, while the loss of other patients lives landed the authorities in even more hot water. It was through this event that the village and the murders occurring there drew the attention to outsiders and started to gain coverage.
Possible death
The following year in 2012, Ramsey was discovered unconscious outside of the village hospital, covered in blood. He had reportedly sustained a serious injury to his groin, and was treated there as authorities began to arrange to have him sent to a larger institution in another city. Witnesses report that his accomplice Roxxy Ramirez was spotted several times during his hospitalization, and it's believed that she aided him in his eventual escape. Ramsey disappeared from the hospital, and was not seen or heard from again, and the murders abruptly stopped after this final disappearance. An anonymous tip alleged that Ramsey was "dead and buried," with an urge that the police stop searching and focus on "cleaning up his mess" which was the tragic, massive loss of life left in his wake. The tip was believed to be made by Ramirez, whom authorities are still searching for to this day. Although the murders she took part in have ceased, she is believed to be alive, with the high possibility of having fled the country.
Aftermath
Schöndorf an der Rückstau received full media coverage and national attention for the murders that had taken place. Combined with the massive loss of life, the remaining survivors of the village have moved to other parts of the country, making the rural, backwater village into an abandoned ghost town. The only visitors the abandoned village sees now are influencers seeking internet clout for their exploration and documentation of it. The federal government warns against visiting the village, but keeps an eye out for the disappearances of said influencers, awaiting the day that the murders may start up again. Other similar, rural villages have been urged to communicate with the state and be less reclusive for fear of copycat killers. One anonymous survivor of the village gave a statement before leaving, "the unchecked mental health of a psychopathic child did this. We all could have done more." When asked about their thoughts on Ramirez, Ramsey's accomplice, they had this to say, "don't know what was wrong with that one. Maybe the same, maybe not. She seemed like a normal child, and a beautiful woman. Not all killers look like a boogeyman." All of the survivors who choose to speak on Ramsey's actions have pleaded to remain anonymous out of fear that the killer is still alive and will hunt them down.
