Story

It was almost Yuletide at the Durmstrang Institute. The halls, dorms and classes were being decorated with myrrh and holly. Even some classes were Yule-themed. In transfiguration, the students were taught the spell 'Anteocularis', which makes antlers grow out the head of your opponent. Hilda loved the spell. During her free time, she usually disappears in the nearby forest to catch a glimpse of the wild groups of reindeer and even make contact with them.

The next day, Hilda went out again. She was carrying a wooden bucket with her, filled with grass snacks, as she was making her way through the thick snow. In the distance, some familiar sounds echoed through the forest. A couple of females with their calves were nearby. Hilda crouched down and imitated their sound. Their ears pointed forward as they recognized the girl's voice. Soon, she was enclosed by her favourite animals and they were very interested in her snacks. A calf was licking crumbs off of Hilda's coat and was finding his way into her pocket. She thought it was cute until an unusual crack sounded. Her wand! Hilda jumped up and reached in her pocket. Great. A crooked wand. Better try to fix it.

Later that day, the dueling club started. Hilda's wand was... Kind of fixed. The first turn was hers. She wanted to try to put her opponent off by using the spell she just learned yesterday. "Anteocluaris!" She shouted.

Red sparks sprung from the cracks of her wand before it burst out of her hands and she was thrown backwards. The gasps slowly turned into laughter. As Hilda sat up, she felt very dizzy and had a stinging headache. When she placed her hand on her head, she felt soft antlers growing out of her scalp. In a few futile seconds, Hilda had grown a pair of reindeer antlers. A squeal left her mouth as she turned completely red and ran off. On her way out, she got tangled in some Yule garlands and twigs of myrrh.

Hilda was hiding behind a big rock just outside the schoolgrounds. She was sobbing as she was trying to get the twigs and strings out of her hair and antlers. She didn't really mind the fact that she had antlers, but the shame and embarrassment of her performance was getting to her. Out of the blue, the calf that had a taste for her wand stood next to her. He nudged Hilda's arm with his nose and let out a moo. Hilda looked up. "Came to laugh at me too?" She mumbled. The calf blinked and laid down next to her with his head in her lap. Hilda finally smiled again and stroked his head. After all, she felt blessed with the outcome and her new friend.
