That's what Hawks has always told himself, again and again. Has had to remind himself more then once that the people he engages with are monsters. Ruthless killers, with no conscience or shame, bound together purely because of shared circumstance. That they would just as soon turn on each other as they would on him, should their views no longer line exactly with one another. It's important, vital even, for him to not allow himself to consider them as anything else.
They're the Villains, and it's his job to help take them down.
That's what he keeps telling himself, anyways.
