{6~1~11} It started out with a simple visit to the pet store. Mama didn't really want to get out of the house, due to having a rough and horrible event the previous day. But she knew getting out would be better than crying her eyes out and even more depressed from what happened. Her older sister (biglittle Auntie) needed something for her five month old Bloodhound puppy. Not really interested in looking at dog stuff (or the fish), she headed towards the gerbils, birds, rodents, and where they have the cats. Mama told me she would normally go look at the kitties in the cages and play with them through the bars. If her fingers would fit, that is. This time, she headed towards the birds--or me in this case. Most pet stores (like a lot of PetsMart and PetCo) have finches, parakeets, and canaries. Mama wanted someone she could hold and cuddle with, since she's been lacked that the past six months. Lately, Mama had an eye on a Green Cheek Conure that was at another local pet store, but a lady we knew at another pet store (too many pet stores!) said it was probably too old for Mama to bond with (Muawhaha--I mean, poor other bird). That is true, being that it has been there every time Mama went there, for roughly the past six to ten months she told me. The conure was probably a year old and seemed very skittish when people came near. Anywho, the lady told Mama to get one that was about a month or two to four months old. So (back to the pet store I'm at), she comes and look at the birds. And sure enough, there is, not one, but four Green Cheek Conures. One is me! There were already a couple looking at me and the... other conure in our cage, so she went around to the back side to look at the other two in the bottom cage. Well, the only problem is that the two in the bottom cage were shy and stayed towards the middle of their cage. However, the other conure and I seemed more friendly to her, and made Mama a little irritated. She had this look on her face. I kept looking at Mama, and edging a little closer towards her. She gave a small hi to me. Once the couple left, she made her way around to the front. The other conure seemed uninterested at yet another human that would probably start poking and prodding him all over again. Me, I was climbing the cage up and down like crazy! Unlike with the last couple that was looking at me. All I did was bite them. I have a light tan head, with light pink under my eyes (I looked in a thing called a mirror, but I know that there is another bird in there trying to get MY mama), making it look like I was "blushing." I, of course, was different from the other three. Maybe it was that look in my cute little eyes, or my playful ways in the cage, or maybe something else entirely. Instantly, Mama wanted to show Grams and Auntie. Luckily, they were making their way towards me. Mama told them to come look at this cute and friendly little conure. And something about that one of the conures would happen to be on her birthday (I don't know what a "birthday" is, only "birdday" ). They thought I was cute too, of course! So, Mama decided to take her turn and try to pet me. Instead, I bit on her knuckle. She didn't say ouch, or pull away. She just let me know that she wasn't scared of my beak. Yet.
It was love at first bite~
