Day 75. I sit by her bedside as I watch her sinking deeper into the realm of the dead. How did she become this way? I know the answer. Ever since he came, conquered her heart, and left.. she has been this way. Death is steadily creeping closer and closer.. I can smell it. In the stench of her rotting hands, and the whiff of blood when she speaks. But all she whispers in that raspy voice is his name- Kinetik

He arrived one day, a weary traveller inviting himself into our castle. A knight he claimed, oh yes, a knight he proved himself to be.. a Knight of Doom. She was charmed by his gentlemanly ways, his sharp wit and his boyish grin. The way he looked deep into her eyes as he narrated anecdotes of his travels.. she was spellbound. And cast his spell he did, over her and our entire kingdom. What did he want? We do not know. All we know is that ever since he vanished one day, our princess lies in her bed, almost a corpse. It first began with the pain, the twitching and writhing all night long, her screams echoing in the palace walls as doctor after doctor left her chamber, shaking their heads.

I remember the look in her eyes as she begged me to find him. "Please Riegn.. I beg you.. I order you as your Princess, the heir to the throne.. you as my commander-in-chief.. you MUST find him and bring him back to me..."

I sighed and left with a heavy heart. But he was nowhere to be found. He had left no trace, and noone remembered his name or where he was from. He was a very cunning man. Even as I searched for him I could almost feel him laughing at me from the shadows. I've jerked my head back many a time on the road, hoping to catch him unawares.. but all I ever saw was a heavy mist.

I returned to tell her Highness the bad news, but she had only grown worse. Those once beautiful blue eyes were now hollow and opaque. I felt her trembling as I held her hand and apologized for my failure to successfully follow her order.

Can't...live..without..him" she whispered. And those were the last words she ever spoke to me. After that day her condition deteriorated so drastically, it was almost as if someone was sucking the life out of her. Her body turned a mottled grey, her skin flaky and dry. Her hair was limp and decayed... and her eyes.. oh those lovely eyes, so full of laughter and happiness.. they were now fixed upon the ceiling, her pupils unmoving.

Every morning and night I visited her, and spoke to her- encouraging her to battle this, I was close to finding a cure for her illness. But I could feel her slipping away as each day passed..

Where have I not searched for a potion that will make her okay? How many doctors, witches, magicians and faeries have I not consulted? Nothing works for her... it's almost as if someone stole her soul away.

Why did he do this to her? Why her? Was it because she was so innocent, so naive.. like a flower that was always in full bloom. She's been like this as long as I remember.. I used to watch her from the palace gardens as my father trained the new Knights. Sometimes we used to play an old-fashioned game of hide and seek, and as we grew up together we only became better friends. She confided in me and told me of her dreams, worries and secrets. I was her best friend. And her personal Guard. I accompanied her everywhere, never let her out of my sight. She was all mine. And then HE came.. and threw my world in darkness
