Ugh...I am late for this news. Well, just want to say I agree with some that the news should have been more clear about deleting the old CWs. Also, some items would have been bought if the "sell item" was disabled. Most CWs were bought and sold back to the pawn shop to make profits...the items then cost even more before the sale and who would buy them?
0

probabilistic

@introvert If paying to create CWs were the equivalent of paying for them to exist on the site in perpetuity, then users wouldn't be able to delete CWs, and CWs wouldn't disappear when user accounts are deleted.
0

egg

@Alenwen Not so much that nobody cares, but that most people don't know. We don't know if someone owns CWs or not.
It's the fact that the staff may have straight up deleted CWs, and without warning, that is an issue.

@probabilistic Users don't pay for regular CS items to get on site. Your statement is invalid.
1

probabilistic

I'm not sure why it matters that real money was used for these -- presumably cash shop items can be deleted from the site as well, right? And @Alenwen makes a good point -- if a user account gets deleted, their items (including cash shop and CWs) get deleted as well.

I think it would have been nice for the news post to be more explicit, since there were people who pawned CWs in the last few days who wouldn't have done so if they knew about the upcoming deletions. Other than that, I think it's fair to delete things that have been languishing for months.
0

Alenwen

There has been no staff message abour this yet right?
Maybe they just bought all of the items that were left at the end of the sale and they are sitting on an account now?

If a user gets frozen or self frozen all the cws on the account are gone aswell and nobody cares ;3

Jinjah

I didn't really like all the older style CW's, but I did enjoy browsing. It's so bare and boring now. Ho hum. Happy belated birthday Jem (if I may be so familiar).

Jeno

Um, happy birthday, Mr. Jeremy! Did no one purchase something better for you to sit on than wooden crate? Had I realized, I might have bought you an... ottoman or something.

As for the rest, I do find it somewhat questionable to delete real-money items, even if they had been there so long that they accumulated sentience. Maybe Jeremy can have a gallery of forgotten CWs where anything over a certain pawn shop age can go live? Like a CW retirement home. Hidden away, but not yet dead. Artists can get all competitive over which of their items is most infamously unwanted. Every month the item with the highest quantity gets force-revamped and reintroduced into the wild. One item a month wouldn't be terrible, right? Maybe three for special occasions? Then users who loved the old version can come be angry in news comments instead.

Nah, but seriously, I know next to nothing about CWs, and I have no solutions that wouldn't provoke somebody's ire. Can't please all the people all the time. Carry on.

@Klassikal I would, but we /all/ know I'm too mouthy to make /actual/ feedback topics.

:C Oh no. I was saving up for some stuff in there... ;w;
1

Umbrella

That doesn't rhyme at all.
2

Cara

Well, that's a bummer.
I'd pawned a few items to get some items out of pawn and when I have time to go back and purchase, all of the things are gone.
1

Klassikal

I think there should have been some more clarification, but I do think the reactions are a little ridiculous. The items have been sitting there are a long time and weren't even bought when a rather large discount was added.

I am curious why, if this is such an important matter, no one has bothered to make a Site Feedback topic.
9

Wolf_Spirit

@toilet it's honestly not a laughing matter. CWs are REAL MONEY items. Whether you buy the CSC directly from the site or with sP from another player, the lon and short of things is that REAL MONEY was STILL used in purchasing that CSC! This whole mass deleting of CWs in the PS is almost the same message given out as "We don't care about the money you spent on these items. We gave a fraction of what you spent back now we're just going to delete these items because no one is buying."

It's. Just. Not. RIGHT
4

toilet

Lmao. Omg guys.
4

misskass

I'm not really for or against the deletion, I just sort of wish there'd been more notice given, as I didn't properly go through the shop yesterday, which was my only chance to play Subeta while the shop was having its sale. :( If I'd known they were all disappearing I would have bought something.
0

Malibu

Wow, items that cost someone real world money to create were outright deleted from the site?

And after that whole fiasco with people buying up bundles of them and selling them back to the pawn shop? I really don't know what to make of this choice. What I do know is that the next time the CW shop goes in for a 'clearing' it needs to be a lot more controlled.

I feeell like there should have been more elaboration on what *clearing out my shop* actually meant, since the fact that the stuff was going on sale more or less alluded to "there's too much stuff here not moving, so I'm putting it on sale to get rid of as much as possible". I didn't read that as "everything not sold is going to be deleted :'D".

im confused as to why anyone thought deleting them all would be a good idea? like, that "i need to clear out my cw shop" wasn't explicitly clear you would be deleting them, like, yeah he said he needed to clear it out but there was absolutely jack shit said about deleting those items.
an addendum from staff saying "this means whatever doesn't sell by the end of this will be deleted" could have easily avoided confusing and irritating people. (Unless it was in the comments, in which case you really should have put it in the news post, too. )
THIS.

No one is saying that there was no notice (or at least I'm not), but it was not clear that "clearing out" was a complete delete of whatever doesn't sell by the end of the sale, so a little bit of a reminder a few hours before the sale ends that "whatever doesn't sell by midnight will be deleted" or some form of clarification would have been nice before making such a permanent decision.

Also, just because people who didn't want their items to be deleted didn't buy them sooner doesn't mean they weren't planning on pulling them out of there at some point. They might have just wanted to give others a chance to buy it at a low price first. And honestly, I feel like a lot of people would've just jumped at buying those items if they knew those copies would permanently be removed from the site. (and thus fewer items would've needed to be deleted). I would be okay with them being deleted if there was a clear warning to it. And I'm sorry but it's not just one or two people who didn't realize "clear out" was gonna be "delete items off site", it was a lot of people who didn't think it was a clear enough announcement. I wouldn't mind so much if the CWs would be deleted at the end if the post was clear about them being deleted once the sale was over.
7

Ewok

euh what, I didn't get they were actually being deleted. Then I wouldn't have dropped stuff in there yesterday.
1

Sovereign

granted i dont care for cws much (seeing as i never have csc and therefor dont worry much over them or really have a need/want to buy them up like some other people do ) but even I'm going 'what the fuck' at this decision.
im confused as to why anyone thought deleting them all would be a good idea? like, that "i need to clear out my cw shop" wasn't explicitly clear you would be deleting them, like, yeah he said he needed to clear it out but there was absolutely jack shit said about deleting those items.

I didn't read that as "everything not sold is going to be deleted :'D".

*HOWEVER*
I.. don't really feel like I'm against the idea of literally unwanted CWs being deleted (or put in the back for "storage" for a period of time, and then brought back later), just not in this manner. If done differently, I dunno... it becomes pretty obvious after a while that people really just don't want these items/don't really want them right now. But I don't really dig the manner in which this happened.

Like, some bulletpoint thoughts about this:
1. The CW Pawn shop shouldn't have been open for buying items during this.
2. Perhaps before the sale even happened (48-72 hours in advance) there should have been a news post saying that all items that've been sitting in the pawn shop for 1 full year (ie: the items who's prices are currently x) will be deleted/moved to storage until they're hip/vintage (ie: for a period of time they'd not be purchaseable but wouldn't necessarily be deleted) so if you want 'em... now's the time to buy them!
3. After that, the sale begins and wouldn't include those items in question so people wouldn't literally be buying them just to turn around and pawn. *OR* the items WOULD be for sale for a really reduced csc cost but they'd be direct to wardrobe for 6 months+ (a penalty to prevent such things from happening, if such a thing were programmable).

I dunno. Again, I'm unsure of how I feel about the CWs being deleted. It's obvious a lot of them had been in there for a very long time/no one was really interested in them, but equally a lot of them were created by users no longer here/frozen/so that kinda sucks. Indifferent, I guess.

PS: Happy Birthday Jeremy! Here's to hoping you can get some nice shades, tanks, and maybe some shoes for your birthday xD
9

jenny

idk about none of them ever being bought. There were about 6 items in there on my WL and I was able to buy 2 during the sale. Previously it had been about 9 and I had saved to buy a few. It takes a while for some people to get the actual money to buy CSC (yes, sometimes even months) but I was so happy when I was able to and then was able to buy an item from the pawn shop.
3

Marnie

I'm so sad and angry that there were actually things from my wishlist in that shop. Now they are gone. I wish I could turn back the time. Thanks for teaching me this lesson. Don't let chances pass you by. It could be too late. Forever. *bursts out in tears*

When you sell something to pawn, they are sold for a fraction of what they originally cost. I don't like the pawn shop in general, but the fact remains that those items were deleted when someone paid significantly more to get them on-site in the first place.
I don't give two poops if someone thinks something is poorly drawn, there is no reason for it to be deleted.
And for the people saying they would have bought them, I'm right there with you. I was letting the couple items left on my wishlist sit because I had no csc to spend left and planned on buying them when I did. It's a very poor business call to just delete items, regardless of how long they've been in the pawn shop.
There was no explicit warning that the items would be DELETED. There was a suggestion that the shop needed cleared BY USERS and that was the function of the sale in the first place.
So am I pretty pissed? Yes. Do I expect anyone to care? No. But I stand with those who are angry that real money items have just been deleted, not to mention the fact that no one on staff has said a single thing about it, with over 90 comments so far and a lot of angry users.

Only thing I'm upset about is there were some items that the CIs would fit into a TC for and I meant to go in and figure out which I'd need/whether I wanted them or not before the sale ended and I forgot :P But that's on me
0

Commander5AM

Personally I'm glad the CW shop has been emptied, some of the CWs in there have been sitting in there for ages. Peeps hare plenty of time to get what they wanted.
5

Frenchi

idk i thought the news post made it pretty clear that the shop was going to be literally *cleared out*. this wasn't "deleting items without any warning," they gave us several days warning. and anyway, i went through the pawn shop last night - most if not all of the items left were poor quality that would likely not have been bought even if they'd been left there. in fact, quite a few of them had been languishing there for over a year, so…
5

Maleria

I don't get it, no ones cared about these CW items, it was always the same rooting there each times I checked, the shop was completely flooded with it. Even with sales they didn't sell out, and it's now it's gone everyone wants them ?
If you don't want to see them disappear, don't pawn them, sell them the classic way, eh.

The sales was totally calling for clearance of the shop, it was just a last chance to get it.

The vast majority of us read it more as "I'd like the stock in my shop reduced. Here, have a sale and I hope my stock goes down a bunch." Not, "Yo, people - I'm going to be deliberately DELETING all CWs on my birthday."

I still don't like how they just deleted real money items anyway. Unclear warning or not. Real money items should never be deleted :/

tbh I took the "clear out the shop" as in "hey sale come clear me out" not "by the way we're clearing out the shop."

I'd have bought a few more items if I knew that they're gonna get deleted. It's a shame.
5

Julia

Idk most of the items that were in there had been sitting for months, if not longer and a lot were really badly drawn. It's fine to say something's drawn badly, btw. Clearly nobody wanted the items so why does it matter that they were deleted? Seriously, many of those items had been in there for at least a year or more. If some of you were so upset about it maybe you could've, y'know... bought them?
7

Cream

I like how there's so much negativity when there doesn't need to be,I see people saying how they would've bought their stuff back if they knew it would be removed...Exactly when would that of been in your plans to do that? Next week..A month from now? I know of items that have been in there for a YEAR and loads that have been there for MONTHS. If you really wanted to buy your things back you had ample opportunity to do so,This is just an excuse for you to baw for no reason. Who wants to bet that if the shop hadn't been cleared then those very same items people supposedly would of bought back would still be in there months from now?!
9

FLUX

Wow, clearing the whole shop without warning is ridiculous wtf.
7

flamboyantCuttlefish

I'm glad the old, unwanted-by-most-people items were cleared out. I'm incredibly NOT happy that we were given no notice beforehand that items would be cleared out. Especially because some of those items were in there for just hours before the clearing! Maybe you could've only deleted the items that had been in the Pawn Shop since before the sale started? Seems like that would've been a far better call.

But either way, this very sudden mass deletion of items that were payed for with irl money is an incredibly bad call. I would think staff should know better by now that deleting something without prior notice on this site is disliked by nearly everybody.
7

Anonymous

Maybe if there are CW shop items that have stock left, they are unbuyable straight from the source? So, if someone pawns a CW, that item is unbuyable from the seller until the pawn shop CW has sold. This way the stock from the pawn shop is bought out, and no new CWs (that may just later be pawned again) are created. A little box that notifies people about the item being in the pawn shop would be a good idea, I think.
0

Cheshire

If artists were concerned about taking their things out of the pawn shop that is on them. If I ever found one of the ones I made in there I would have bought it back. Someone paid me for the slot to being with so I made my money on it. If I leave my created CWs in the pawn shop forever that is a huge sign that I don't care what happens to them. Honestly I'm glad to see the 10,000 hideous wigs gone. They made it impossible to weed out the not-wigs and made it super easy for me to loose interest waiting for pages / previews to load just to be horrified at the quality of the actual item. Most of the stuff in there looked like first generation CWs anyway, meaning all the creators had more than enough time to grab back their items at a discounted price, way less than what they originally sold them for. I agree that maybe a clear warning like WE WILL BE DELETING EVERYTHING THAT IS NOT BOUGHT would have been nice. But really, whatever. Maybe this will motivate people to actually think about the CWs they are having designed and try to make ones that people will want to own long-term. Technically we all sign a thing that says we give subeta the rights to our creations when we submit them in the first place.

IMO a better birthday surprise would have been giving poor Jeremy a revamp. He is almost as terrible as some of those ancient CWs. Make it up to us by making subeautique invites more common? I don't think I have found one all month. u.u;

Never mind. I just realized there was a sale. I guess I didn't see the announcement, sorry xD.
0

Babycake

I guess that's okay, but I wish we would have been given a warning, considering there were several things I wanted to buy in the next few weeks.
0

Darkrai

As someone who had several copies of a CW I created in the pawn shop (at least one copy of which I pawned myself), I don't mind at all that they were deleted. If they were suddenly dumped in my inventory, I would have pawned them all again.

I do wish there would have been a clearer warning for those who would have chosen to buy back their items instead of letting them get deleted, but I personally don't care either way.
5

FireFlea

I tried to make a CW but it was so ridiculous. The hassle was just stupid. Plus the prices were usually WAY too much; I'd never pay 500-600CSC for most of them. I say it was a good idea to empty the stock.
3

Wolf_Spirit

...and seeing as though it was Jeremy who supposedly did the clearing, I hope his birthday's terrible and so is his next year! XS
2

Wolf_Spirit

Not to mention there was at least one dress in the pawn shop that was a LOCKED CW in a player's CW shop meaning exclusive. Now that seller can't even try to get it back to resell as it was limited in quantity to begin with. This was the worst decision staff could have ever made!
3

dollipop

i'm a bit perturbed at this, considering keith originally claimed in the SB that he would not be deleting/clearing CWs from the pawn shop, just having a sale... :s
16

Kushiel

@Silvanesti
As I said I understand the concerns, then again though, as soon as the items are on Subeta, they are Subetas property and no longer the users. I do agree that this maybe could have been handled with in a different fashion, maybe giving the artists (if they still play subeta) the 'slots' back when these items were deleted. So if, let's say there were 2 copies of item x and onne of item y the artist a wold be able to sell 2 item x and one tem y in their cw shp again. That way they would be able to re-enter the copies on site again.

I am sure however that the next time such a clearence happens, staff will modify it a bit and try to incorporate some of the concerns.
0

DarkVixen28

Well this pretty much ensured that I will never pawn a CW...or create one for that matter. I'd rather have them rot in my account vault than be deleted.

Some sort of clarification on what happened to the cleared CWs would be amazing, especially for the users commenting here that had submitted them to the site. (Note: I am /not/ one of those people). I have to agree with some others here that deleting them outright is incredibly sketchy.

The clearing hint left in the initial news post was not clear. Mentioning Esmerelda, to me, indicated that the /regular/ pawn shop would be cleared, not the CW section as Esmerelda has nothing to do with CWs as far as I'm aware.

As a suggestion for the future: Send the copies back to the person that submitted it to the site in the first place to do what they will with it. If the information to find the submitting user is available to normal users, and it is, then the information is also available behind the scenes.

If there were CWs deleted, that's pretty shitty tbh. If they were bought out, then that's great, but these aren't regular site items. People paid real money for them to exist, so deleting them, regardless of any underplayed hint from an npc, is super sketchy and totally unacceptable.
I just saw this and I couldn't agree more. Getting rid of all those CWs that were bought and paid for is really, really wrong. This is why I feel the layer suggestion I made ages ago for the Pawn Shop would be a lot better. Putting items into separate sub-sections based on each layer in the wardrobe would really help with the overwhelming amount of CWs in the pawn shop. The main pawn shop CW section would still have all the CWs in it, but to make it easier on the eyes, and finding things, have each item placed in a sub-category that correlates to each wardrobe section.

People's CSC, I agree, shouldn't just be mass-cleared like that :/

Agreed. There could also have a little red exclamation mark next to the items set for clearing so that anyone that is looking at a particular item could grab it before it goes. There maybe could also be a section where the soon-to-be-cleared items could be put into so that they're more readily and easily seen by people so that they don't miss out

24

Moondrops

Well, if they were outright deleted then I guess that means a couple of the CWs I created that were one batch are now fewer in number. If I had known they were going to go "poof" I would have made efforts to buy them back and at least have them in my vault for later use.

… :
9

Silvanesti

@Kushiel The disconcerting thing is that with CWs, some people pay real money to get a batch online, so it would have been nice if there was a few hours warning beforehand so if anyone who didn't want their items to be deleted they could have bought them out of the pawn shop. Especially if it was of limited batches. It doesn't matter if the items didn't sell, some people would've bought them back just to not get the copies deleted off the site.

And I understand that they mentioned they were clearing them out with the sale, but to me it sounded like a "clear out sale" not "we're going to be deleting these copies off the site after a sale". So I think it just would have been nice to have a warning at like 6pm that day and be like "Hey don't forget the sale is gonna end at midnight and when the sale ends we're going to be clearing out the CW portion of pawn shop".

Happy B-day to you indeed. I'd sing my best lounge lizard version of the song but only my sister gets to hear that... :)

Yeah also hoping they weren't just wiped from the site. They aren't like normal site items where the users didn't pay actual money to get them on the site...

Personally I am very glad to see the shop emptied... does not matter to me if they deleted them or what... but I am curious to know... I suffer from 'satiable curiosity
