Antique Shop

The Antique Shop is now open!
There are two ways to purchase items from the Antique Shop. For now, there are tabs for the Islander items and Pirate items, but future tabs for other plot and event prizes will be added. By going to the main section for these, you’ll be buying items full price and be able to do whatever you want with them. For example you could buy the Salty Chart Pieces from the Pirates tab and put them in your pet’s treasure chest, one of your galleries, your vault, or even send it to a friend!
The second way to purchase items from the Antique shop is by clicking one of the item types after “Direct To Collectionsâ€. For example, if you click books you’ll have all the book listed from the different events (right now only pirate and islander books are listed). By buying an item from this tab, you’ll be getting a nice discount and bypass your inventory. In the case of foods and books, these items will be fed/read to your active pet. When you feed/read the foods/books to your pet or buy a plushie/beanbag, they disappear from this section so you can easily keep track of what you still need to purchase. If you end up reading all the books to your pet from the books tab (whether through the antique shop or your inventory!), the tab will disappear until we add another old plot/event!
We will give you guys a heads up before we get rid of any other retired currencies just like we did with the islander/pirate currencies! Remember you can still convert your old pirate/islander points in for sP here!

It's high end, but by no means impossible. God weapons are expensive and you are not entitled to them. They are now much more available than they ever were, and also much less expensive. Before now, you could make as many 5B+ offers as you wanted and all the answers you would gave gotten would be nays.

@Karen I mean, okay, but it's not about who has the cash. It's about what they're willing to spend it on. You may be correct that some people are willing to spend that much on a powerful weapon, but so far in this comments section I haven't seen much evidence of that. But who knows, I could be wrong.

@Karen - Hm. That could've been why you had an easier time, then. I'll admit I wasn't aware that people were loaning weapons back then, but given how many complaints there were about the point distribution back when the prize shop went up, that probably didn't help that many people - the point system was still skewed pretty heavily toward one specific type of players, and that skewed the point prices for most items (and now, by extension, the prices for most items in the Antique Shop).
Can't really do anything about that at this point (unless the admins decide to rebalance the AS prices, which Amber already said won't happen), but it's food for thought. Plus, with all the discussion about the prices here, keeping the original point costs and the reactions to them in mind can't hurt, I think.

Ultimately what it comes down to is that most users cannot justify spending this much on an item regardless of how much they wanted it at first. There are so many other, better items on site that are cheaper that it's just pointless. I can't really be "happy" about these items being obtainable if I don't see the point in spending so much sP on one thing when there are 10 better versions of it.
@Karen I mean, if you say so. lol I guess I feel like once you pass a billion you're kinda splitting hairs, it all translates to 'fucking expensive' to my eyes. I just....have a hard time imagining someone saving that much sp, and an even HARDER time picturing them spending it on one weapon instead of tons of CSC and wearables or something.
This shop was created to serve two purposes:
This is definitely making the items available again, as they are clearly right there with endless stock and sP prices. But is it going to work as an sP sink?
For an effective sP sink you really need (a) willing people to buy and (b) prices that people are able to pay.
This sink had LOTS of willing people, but at these prices, many of those willing people are no longer willing or able.
I get that they should be pricey, but at the same time, value is NOT associated with age (or even hard work, sorry). It is associated with what people are willing and able to pay. If no one is willing/able to pay these prices, then the values need to drop. That's how value works.
It is effective at getting the items back in the system, and I am really thankful for that! :) I look forward to other shops being here (and amending an earlier typo, I hope other shops are NOT this pricey), and I kind of want those other shops here sooner rather than later.
But for an sP sink? I guess we'll have to see. I am not sure... the people that need to sink their sP (the hoarders) may have the sP to throw away, not even they understand what is worth paying for these items. My 500 mil (which is nothing compared to the real hoarders) won't be touching this shop. Not until I see other prize shops in there.
I HOPE this works as an sP sink. Just... based on these news comments, not sure who is spending their money in here? More sounds like this shop has just... killed the demand for these items rather than inspiring people to drop sP...

There's a big difference between your "over a billion" and 3.75 billion though, too. I'm not sure about the 3.75b myself, but I definitely see godlies at being valued well over a billion.

@Mackenzi Yeah, we aren’t using the same SP ratio for other plot prizes. The way pirate and islander worked was rough (I mean the shops alone were pretty unbalanced, islanders had way more clothes than pirates while pirates had like… plushies which islander didn’t).
@Cru Reading Drive and the other ones I think will turn out a lot better because the prices for those shops were closer to gather than pirate/islanders. Like you had some stuff in pirate shop at like 20 RWP while others were like 750. IT’S A REALLY ROUGH SHOP OKAY.
@introvert dude some of those items are cheap because we hustled them way back, they wouldn’t be that cheap if we hadn’t (also you are not my number 2 sry)
@Astrid Whoops, we meant to do that actually! Grace is going to work on it soon.
@BoaConstrictor Yeah, the reading drive prices I don’t see being this extreme because again, the points were a lot closer together. (We haven’t determined the ratio for the other currencies yet but since Reading Drive will likely be the next one added in, it’s one I’ve been toying around with)
@Karen Sorry, had to run off to the store ANSWERING EVERYTHING NOW
@Hiccup I said they didn’t expect it because there are other weapons that are apparently better (they're thinking a few might sell but not like 100 of them you know?) — I honestly don’t know much about battling (my battle pet is like tier 6 lol). They approved the prices of these weapons + the prices of the other weapons in the antique shop. Some people might still want these godlies, I guess it depends on someones set. Again, I’m not a battler so I don’t know how effective those weapons are :p

@Karen As in, billions translates into multiple years of work, less if you do art commissions and the like. I'm going by 'multiple years' because I consider myself to be a pretty successful(?) player, it took me about 1 year to build a hoard that sold for a little over 1 billion all told, and I played practically every day. So by that measure the effort-to-reward ratio seems a bit off no matter how good the weapon is. I'd spend that much on like, gold account for life but I personally couldn't justify it otherwise.

@Campanella
I know I did have some decent(but not great) weapons back then since the tier system wasn't set up like it is now. I also remember many people loaning weapons out for no cost to people without battle pets, though.

@Karen Well if somebody stands up and says 'yes, I will pay 3,750,000,000 for this weapon and that seems like a good price for the internet sword' then I'll stand corrected.
Holy Bovine! Look at those prices! LMAO
Yes, they make REALLY GOOD sP sink, but at least now I can actually buy the stuff i wanted, like the barettes. those are still pretty, hahaha
Speaking of stuff i wanted...
Somebody please tell me why on Subeta did i ever want a Natural Shell Ankle Wraps? >.>

@bailey
I didn't mean the question mark, actually. I meant that 350-500m is nothing for a god weapon.

@Karen - Do you recall what sort of weapons you had access to at the time, since that was back when the old battle system was still in use? I remember not being able to afford most of the good/recommended weapons back then, and even the easiest opponent for the pirates was troublesome. Time-consuming grinding is something I don't mind, but I pretty distinctly remember struggling with the opponents (along with a lot of others, if I'm remembering the user comments from back then right)), so trying to restock for points was pretty much the only option (and that didn't work well due to the reasons noted earlier).

Well, shit. So much for EVER getting the rest of the hibiscus hair clips. The prices are a bit...really fucking excessive, don't you think?!
Like I understand even 250-500mil but when you get to the billions you're blowing past 'difficult' and even 'unobtainable' and pitching headfirst into 'dumb'

Amber literally said that the BA didn't even expect anyone to buy the godies in the Antique Shop. Which is stupid because there's no point in putting them in here in the first place if that was the case.

Me: 75k? Oh that's nice. Next row, 3mil. Okay, not bad. Next row 19mil. /keeps scrolling down 3.75bil...Dang, well that escalated quickly. xD
(though seriously I get the reasoning behind the pricing and I don't feel like everyone should be able to buy these old items; personally if I had that kind of sp on me, I'd buy cws instead of a bud for 75mil but that's just me xD hope people get what they want out of this :3 happy shopping!)

I dunno if staff realizes that into MULTIPLE BILLIONS is stunningly difficult even if you work your ass off for a year. Trust me, because I tried. The rest I'm happy with. The items I need are expensive but manageable and I'm really glad this is happening. 3 billion though? Dang, you're out of your mind.
@Campanella
I wasn't much of a battler at all at that point. I wasn't good at RSing, either. The challengers were not that difficult, but it was a huge grinding and time consuming chore to earn points. I used sP to buy what I didn't have points to purchase.

This wasn't done out of spite. This was done to protect values of items. Plus I always wanted a Kui Lei collection.deliberately being spiteful and inflating items to 6x the previous price.

To quote Snowflake:
It makes me concerned about other shops, mainly the reading drive, where I have a LOT of wishlist items hanging out.
(Shameless begging: If anyone had RD point they wanna sell please hit me up?)

This is my exact feeling! There's some things in there I'm comfortable buying, since there's a discounted 'direct to collection' option for books. But for an items like Jacques Compass, I wasn't expecting it to be that much.....there's making it difficult to get something and then there's going overboard.

@Karen - I'm not sure if it's a good idea to equate working for sP to buy stuff here to working for points back in the plot. The point distribution back then was really imbalanced - battlers could get points pretty reliably, while the one other way was through restocking (which even with a good connection became difficult extremely fast due to how many people were trying to get the point-giving items, and how quick certain really good restockers were). So even someone who tried really hard could end up with very few points, just because they didn't have a strong enough pet at that point or items just sold out way too fast. In comparison, getting sP these days doesn't take much effort, since even just doing Wizard- and Saggitarius quests will usually get you at least a million.
I agree that the items are available to everyone (or at least, everyone willing to shell out that much sP) now, but it does feel like the skewed point distribution (and as a result, the point costs) in the original shops led to disproportionately high prices here too.

The most money I have ever had is 150 million more or less. I mean I could sell my battle set, but the reason I keep training HRH is for her to battle. I just need some new books to move her up in her job finally.
Well I bought two books, but the rest are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my price range even at straight to pet price.

I think I already have the stickers from these shops but I definitely had to ask. :)
