GELATIN WAR!!!
Do you feel the ground shaking? Do you hear that wet squishing sound? THE GELATINS ARE COMING!
...Or the GELATIN, I should say. Normally when these things invade, the first thing I hear is the disgusting noise of thousands of mini gelatins sliding across the land, but something's different this time. I can hear the minis, of course, but they're faint, farther off in the distance. This thing out in front... it's heavy. Massive. I think it's Hydragellos... and I think it's been working out. Doing some core strength exercises, if you will! I know, I'm hilarious.

I don't want to discourage anybody here, but I have a feeling that we're not going to be able to take this thing down completely this time. With any luck, though, we can make its stay in Subeta so miserable that it won't stick around for longer than a week. Tell you what: as motivation, I'll personally retrieve a Hydragellos Maniacal Core from the beast for each and every battler who manages to do 5 million damage to it by the end of August 30. Don't worry if you can't hit that total; I'll still scrounge up some other rewards for you based on total damage dealt, and you can of course hack away at any smaller gelatins to see what kind of loot you can knock out of their jiggly insides!
WE CAN DO THIS, battlers! Now come on, let's show that gelatinous beast who's boss!

a bit late to the game, but i'm really, really thankful this is the method we're going with this time. i want to say i suggested something similar in years past (or at least just thought about it) and it's absolutely the only way i could even stand a chance to power rank the way i used to before i worked full time. plus, now i don't have to feel self conscious about switching to my smaller pets in hopes of spinning up extra minor prizes, since i know that kolja has already netted me the big one. i'm pretty satisfied overall, thank you.

Goal: 5mill (approx 9k battles)
Reality: 100k (approx 200 battles)
I hope that's enough for the consolation prize XD

So...what's the MINIMUM damage we need to deal in order to get something out of this? My best pet is a T1 and he's done 124 damage so far lmao
I don't need the pet slot from the QAT so I'm just doing those for the endless weekend quests, but I don't know if participating in this is even like...going to matter for me in the end, I guess? I want to get more into battling eventually, I swear

@thatshamefulhabit - there's a link where you can check and see how much damage your pet has done. https://subeta.net/games/battle/dmg_total.php You can check one time per pet, every 12 hours.
If the Hydragellos has infinite health, and my pet does 0 damage. How long will it take to deal the damage required to kill it? Infinity/0? xD

Apologies if this has an obvious answer, but is there any faster way to determine how much total damage you've done than just keeping track of every round? Like, is there anywhere on the site I can go and check? I'm trying to calculate longhand right now, but it's my nightmare, especially when I'll have to go through thousands of battles to get 5 million damage (even with a Tier 11 battler with the best weapons I can afford).

5 million damage???
): idk how... need better weapons and a better plan of attack, T11 pet but no tier 11 weapons sigh

It may be a little less dramatic than a big group battle, but can I just say I really like that I can plan out my time now? Imma be battling all week anyway to try and make it but I really like that we don't have to try to beat other users's scores (top of the ranking list) as well this time around. Thank you for changing it up and trying something new, I like it!

I appreciate the advice and help offers <3
I'm adjusting my set so I've got a blocker back in there and more freezers and some better hits based on this and advice provided by another user through comments. If I can stick it into some more reasonable damage I might actually have a shot now -sobs-

@Funkykitsune
It's almost impossible to defend or outheal his attacks. So your best bet is to use full blockers (Shinwas Temple Shard, Rainbow Vortex and/or Amulet of Neutrality). Stuff as many in your set as you can, maybe bring some negating pylonics if you don't mind spending extra SP. These will give you a turn where you can't die. Combine this with freezers, add a 100% freezer to your set, use it on the first turn together with one of the full blockers (unless you can survive a hit without a full blocker, then you can use the blocker later), then resort to freezing scrolls to keep him chain frozen. Shriek of Despair and Psycho Smashers are the best. If you run out of those and still have AP to spare, then go for whatever else you have laying around - Gale Force, Perilous Whirlpool and Gelaspell.
If your pet has enough HP to survive a couple of hits, it might be worth it to take along a Phoenix Quill and Reviver of the Lion to give you two (near) full heals which might add another few turns to the battle. You could also add a Gift of the Forj for extra hp, but it doesn't help too much if you can't survive a couple of hits at least.
It also has this one hit KO attack. If you're not full blocking on that turn, it's over. So Phoenix Quill and Reviver of the Lion are a bit of a gamble. Better to try and chain freeze.

Looks like I'm doing roughly 4k damage each battle (as long as there's not too many of the 400 damage one-shot-and-you're-out battles of course!), so that makes all the training worthwhile! :D
This is definitely a better style boss battle than the previous one :D

Can anyone recommend some weapon/scrolls that will help prolong a battle with this dude? I can last about two rounds before he beats me on the third

You were inactive for at least five minutes, so your battle against Hydragellos has ended, but feel free to enter the fray again!
Does it still count in the damage done?
Does it still count in the damage done?

/Best/ case scenario for me is a minimum of 8333 battles to hit the 5 million marker. Though with the random puny 200 damage that keeps popping up from time to time I may end up with a five digit number there.
Not sure if I can do that but I am intrigued to try.
(Other fun math: Best case scenario for healing is it'll cost about 25mill for all the healing I'd have to do for all those battles.)

As someone who only comes into Subeta these days just to battle I'm really excited about this. Ive never been evolved with ANY boss battles here, due to other commitments and such, and since going from T3 to T12 in just under a year I'm so ready for this. Recently got my hands on a core anyway, so not terribly excited about the reward ahaaa.
Anyone got any suggestions for bigger damage, I'm going down the chain freeze route so far and only managed 62 battles lol. Idk what my average damage is probably 5k-10k? So roughly need 1000 battles. Glad the event is longer than usual boss battles.
Also will there be an overall best damage dealer list?

Up to 562841(or thereabout, might've entered a number wrong or two). A tenth of the way there! :D

I'm glad the deadline is next week since I'm swamped this week. I only need like 100 battles (or less), but can't get to it til the weekend. Maybe next week if the hurricane hits hard and I get no power xD
Nice, it looks like with my average I'll only have to do about 250-300 battles. That's about how many I used to do in the 24 hour boss fights(with sleep+food time, so probably more like 12 hours), so I should definitely be able to do this, even with the added time of spreadsheet tracking. :D

@Marine
I think whatever is meant to be will simply be. We did just have a quest-a-thon recently, and it certainly isn't going away anytime soon for an event idea, so there will always be more opportunities for users to get pet slots, etc. So if this one fails, it's not the end of the world.
I wish BQs were part of the quest-a-thon because then battlers are still contributing through their unique ability to complete 20-30 quests when some players simply don't battle.

I look at it this way--if a lot of cores do go out, there won't be a need for a gelatin war next year since there should be enough in circulation. And honestly, I'd be fine with that because the gelatin war does have a tendency to be repetitive-feeling when it's been an annual event. I'd rather see different boss battles.

@METROID
Well, sure! I totally see what you mean.
I just feel that having multiple events at once, along with the fact that school's starting for some users, is a bad idea: because sure, there's people who like battling, there's people who like questing, there's people who like both...
There's something for everyone perhaps, but that doesn't mean everything'll get done.
A few days is enough for Hydragellos, definitely enough time for the dedicated to get their damage in, but if it's going on at the same time as the Quest-a-Thon, then a week might not be enough for 1mil quests, especially when we haven't hit the halfway point yet.
I'm just worried that we won't get our promised rewards, just because the staff decided to spring a second event on us at the same time...

@Evy
total your damage output per battle, about 5-10 times; then average out those totals to get your mean. Then go to your statistics page in the coliseum, and see how many battles you've lost in total. Multiply your "lost battles" number by your mean score for damage, and that should give you a rough estimation of your total damage thus far. So if you've got a total of 400k damage, then your actual score should be laying somewhere between 300-500k roughly.

Are we taking over/under bets on how many Cores will be going out this year? I'm going to say over 100 but under 150, but I'm really interested to see what the final number will be.

I'm not sure how I feel about this - or rather, what my dominant feeling is (because definitely less anxiety about hitting the top 25 and having a strong lower tier pet try to be top of its tier but also.. that was kind of fun in a super-stressful kind of way).
I probably will spend the same amount of time on this as I did the last time with the focused six (four?) hour sessions, but at least I can pace myself and choose when I do it instead of forcing real life to work around the scheduled boss times. Thank you very much for unequivocally stating/confirming that there is no extra reward for doing over 5m damage - huge relief. I couldn't grind on it for an entire week and try to compete for top damage. ;-;

Also, to all talking about wanting a Concoction.. you should be able to get one this war if you haven't already earned one previously. It's an achievement prize for beating the Gelatin Wizard ten times, so as long as that opponent appears during the war and you can get the wins, you should be set to get that and then make your Maniacal Essence. c:

@Marine
not every user is a battler. Not everyone goes to school. Some don't like doing quests but love battling.
It all works out so that everyone gets something they like.
Besides, a week is more than plenty of time to rack up reasonable damage.
I'd almost say a week is too long. Should really be a three- or five-day event for Hydra (so that it ends on a Friday or Sunday), while the rest of the gellies come at their own pace.

... In the middle of Quest-A-Thon, when we haven't even broken 500k quests? :
And school starts/has started for a lot of people soon, too?
Bad decisions. Bad, bad decisions. I'm kinda concerned that we won't hit 1mil quests now, haha...
I'll have to pass, to be honest-- even if Flandre's t8 now, she won't be doing awful much.
If there was some visual counter to show how much damage we've done, then maybe that'd be helpful? But it seems like it'd be annoying to keep track otherwise when I'm doing maybe, maybe 1k damage per battle. :')
Maybe I'll squish smaller gelatins for the EXP, but otherwise.. no thanks. I'll keep to questing.

@Reaper are you using shinwas crystal shard or vortex?
I'm hitting at least 2k with my T10... I'm using shard crystal to deffend + freezer + damage scroll (200-300 dmg), then 2 bombs + dmg scroll (1000-1200 dmg), and 2 infinite weapons (Knocker and Rift Staff) + Morosbane (900-1100 dmg). Sometimes I even can handle another turn.

my arm hurts :( i don't think i can do anymore, i have thousands of more fights to go with my poor little T3 and i just...can't. ;_;

Total Damage: 1459
My T11 pet with 2 decently tough weapons + a good scroll.
Number of battles necessary to hit 5m damage if that is the standard damage I do: almost 3500
I don't have time for this, guess I wasted effort training all of my pets into various tiers to try and get a core that way. Seems like this is another round for the folks who are dedicated battlers and nobody else again.

Can someone link me to stats/weapons for this behemoth? Need a little help with info if I'm to even attempt this T_T

Seriously, why in the everloving heck did this have to start during the questathon? I already missed several days of that because it had to happen during the eclipse (sorry not sorry, it was way too awesome to miss even if I did get stuck in traffic for days and miss part of a Subeta event), I have three 12-hour shifts this week, my computer is being stupidly slow for some unknown reason, and so I'm already feeling the stress from having to fit all the quests in somewhere. Now this too? I don't think I have time for both...and that almost makes me feel like doing neither, even though I was looking forward to both of these things happening this summer. Sorry for the whine, I try not to do it often, but ugh. D:

I was too busy trying to get the other jelly achievements. Hope it is enough for something. I cant imagine doing 17x as many battles as I did.
