"If you have completed Mathematics or Computer Studies on anything above like Grade 10 level, you must have at least heard of binary, hexadecimal and octal? Or at least seen it on your calculator?"

Um... There is this thing called "new math". My kids learned match a completely different way than I did. When I was in school, we never used calculators. I'm really not even that old. But I was surprised when I had to buy my daughter a calculator. We were expected to figure things out by hand. The hard way.

So, saying that someone that has been through 10th grade should know base4 or whatever that is, is illogical and wrong. I have a college degree, and yet I've never heard of it. It's great you were taught that in school, but the world is a big place and you can't expect that everyone learned what you learned.

I didn't think the trivia was unfair. I did manage to find the answer, got lucky really. And promptly gave the prize to a friend who collects birdies (since I don't collect them).

Yes, it was hard. And when I first looked at the question, I thought my brain would explode. I didn't get DNA's (the first one). Not sure if I got this new one, either. But I am actually enjoying having the trivias in different formats. It's more variety and I do love riddles.

Granted, I am in the blue building so now I play more for fun than anything else. But there were times that I spent well over 5 hours looking for a trivia *shakes fist at Efi and her last sequence trivia... but I still adore you Efi* and never found the answer. And that answer WAS on the site. So, had it been onsite, you could have easily spent that much time looking and still not found the answer.

It seems like with trivia, it comes down to you are danged if you do, and danged if you don't. Cause no matter what you do, some people won't be happy. That's the way it always is.

Thank you for doing the trivia's while she is gone. I do appreciate that. And I hope her computer is fixed soon. I would be lost without mine.

Ive heard (but of course, rumors are rumors until proven) that DebiLee's computer IS the problem. I actually got a virus through MSN right at the same time as Debi's went down.. one of those nasty bugs that travels without your knowledge.. it took down my computer, but thankfully, I have a wicked awesome computer friend who spent almost an entire day in the guts of my computer, fixing it for me. Im not saying thats what happened to hers, but its possible.

And I know Keith and DNA didnt have to update the trivia, and I love that they did (I got both answers ) I just wish they werent lasting so long...
0

Ariel

Something is obviously going on with Debi, she keeps going idle for days at a time. Knowing how good she is about staying on top of this, I assume it might be something moderately not good

I'm really surprised and pleased Keith and DNA went out of their way to update the trivia, it was a nice thing to do, and they didn't didn't have to. It's just another nice perk we get.

I miss the trivias as much as all of you, but this obviously isn't as important as what could be going on in her real life.
0

Jeryn

Ok, whats with the trivias lasting so long??? Ugh!!! They used to be changed when 1000 people answered or so, and latley, they're getting up to the mid 3000's. I know debi isnt here, but can we get these updated a little sooner?? Pllleeeeaasseeee??? Id do it,.. but im obviously not staff...
0

thoughtful

"So now if we want to release trivias based on garbled language, it's wrong?" - No, it's just hypocritical."

No, that's not it either. Completely random codes present exactly the same experience to anyone who attempts to crack them, whereas with another language (even a coding one), completely foreign to Subeta, some people are very obviously going to be at an advantage at first glance.

And, as another aside, I somehow doubt that 10k+ people on this site have said they don't know what base64 is. JustMimi's response is spot on, though--base64 is not required knowledge if you're working in html, etc.

D; I've suddenly lost faith in subeta...

* fears of the day it will turn into something like *shudder* neopets *

( Evilness, scamming, spamming, general nonsense )
0

Jeryn

I LOVE that the trivias are getting harder. The month of december was all easy peasy, no difficulty type questions, and those arent any fun!!! use your brain, solve the hard ones, and take PRIDE in getting them right.

I'm really surprised at the 10k+ people saying they know SO MUCH about the internet and programming and have never HEARD of b64. I know almost jacksh!t about programming, I heard of b64 when I was doing basic code breaking stuff on the internet. It's an extremely common code to use online for basic code things, I see it as much as anagrams. I'd be interested to hear what parts of the internet these programing whizzes came from to not hear about it.

**end

Obviously, the parts (gazillions of them) that have nothing to do with code breaking. That does beg the question why you were breaking codes on the Internet, but let's just leave that one aside. We don't all have the same set of experiences, Pixieeee, even when we share common interests. I'll bet there are things here on Subeta which you do and I don't, and vice versa. Does that make one of us a loser? Nope. Just means we play differently.

For the record, I never said I was a programming whiz, and would never claim to be. I've written small programs before, mostly in C++, for classes, and once long enough ago so that I'd be willing to risk a large sum of money that at least half of the people reading this weren't born (and their parents may have been in middle school), I was forced to write a program for an astronomy class, to convert CST to sidereal time and prove I'd done it properly by turning in the paper tape it was punched on. That's the extent of my programming knowledge. One doesn't have to be a programmer to have a degree in CIS, especially if one is studying analysis and project management of computer systems. One doesn't have to be interested in breaking code to use the Internet. One doesn't have to be able to take an engine apart and put it back together properly in order to drive.

Again, I'm not whining about not having gotten the answer right - I could hardly expect to, since I didn't even submit anything. I'm talking about the fact that it is reasonable to assume that many many people will have been upset about this, since the question and answer didn't follow the only guidelines there are about what to expect (and yes, now I realize that they don't have to, but that wasn't clear until now either). People's reactions when something runs counter to their expectations are usually highly charged emotionally and some people were being quite rude to those who were complaining or spluttering around, saying, "but ... but i thought ... it says ...." My intent was to help those who are complaining about the complainers understand why, aside from sour grapes, one might feel that way, and by drawing out answers from Keith and staff, help re-define expectations in order to avoid future brouhahas.

I was just sitting here reading all of these comments and laughing at the people who got upset at the people who were complaining. Who cares if they were mad at the trivia? Does it really matter that much to you? Everyone is entitled to feel the way they want! Absolutely crazy people.

O_o

I probably just guessed the completely wrong answer.
0

Meagan_Madness

I find it really sad that I was in a IT class and they never taught me this or said anything about it to the class.

Glad I know about it now though. I can drive my friends crazy sending them these insane codes

0

I'm sorry, but your answer of yes absolutely but only on a tuesday if the weather is nice! for the trivia was incorrect. Oh no I got it wrong? lol

That's totally irrelevant to the trivia though. It wasn't really all that big of a deal. While it might have sucked if you didn't know, it WAS just ONE trivia. :3
0

ShibbNani

I just wanted to add my two cents and say that I have little to no knowledge of computer languages, but I did google around and managed to find a decoder site that led to my decoding the question. Do I know what Base64 is? No. Am I fluent in it? Heck no.

It was a difficult thing to find, yeah, but it was Subeta related, and someone with no previous knowledge about it (myself) found it.
0

BlueGreenGrey

And so the furor continues LOL

I did not get the last one, and I shall not get this one. Ahh well. Onward! XD
0

PEACHYz

All I'll say is, I feel like an idiot. xD I went to many a decoder site and Base64 was everywhere, yet from how it was described, I didn't think the question was in that. Oh well.
0

Ariel

I think it's really disgusting that people are saying stuff like, "how could you not have heard of it?" Seriously, how rude. Not everyone knows everything, don't act like you're better than people who haven't.

I hadn't heard of it, but managed to google around and figure it out. That was more luck and determination than smarts.
0

twilightangel

If the question was in base64, then why was there no hint to the base? I'm not a programmer and I don't wish to be one right now, but I find that question wasn't fair to those who struggled to find out what the code was. I have studied base code, even though it interest me a little. Most of the people that answered had no clue what the question was. I don't care if I had the right answer. I'm just disappointed that a question like that was a trivia.
0

Taurean_482

"OMG whaa whaa whaa, it's a freaken game. I didn't get the answer either, get over it and move on."

It's not the trivia itself. I spent four hours trying to break that code as if it were a cryptogram because I did not think I'd have to go outside of Subeta to find the answer. The fact that it was in a coding language was something I thought of out of desperation, when I'd given it not my 100% but my 105! Many of us work hard at trivia, and it's sad to be wrong when it's not really your fault. It's always nice to see your efforts come to fruition.
0

Ginger

base64 is more known to people who code websites - it was interesting to me to see / and not * and or - used in the base64 example posted - that shed some light on why so many SQL errors happen if the base64 is not tweaked and is fighting with the other coding

I wasn't comparing myself to the president (though that's how it might have seemed) and I generally try to follow my rules. However, saying that I need to follow questions asked by other staff members (who, aren't staff anymore.) in an editorial over two years ago...

end quote

*gently points out that the editorials aren't dated and that they've been used for answers before*

I'm not particularly whining - I don't expect to get every trivia right, or even most trivias right. All I'm doing is trying to explain why it's reasonable to expect that some people would be upset over this.

Just FYI - I've been using computers since before Windows, been on the Internet since the days when 9.6 kps was akin to lightspeed (how well I remember my first 14.4 connection and how fast it was in comparison!), have a Master's in Computer Information Systems, worked for 4 years as an Information Assurance Analyst (read: computer security analyst), can do master cryptograms within the time limits (often I simply read it as if it were a language and I know what it says), speak several languages, and am generally considered not to be a total dummy, and base64 never crossed my mind, as googling for decoders didn't either. I say all that to point out that even geeks aren't going to tumble to everything computer-related, which makes the comments such as (paraphrase): "anyone who knows anything should have known, so if you didn't get it, you're too stupid to be allowed to breathe" both rude and inflammatory. (I am not pointing a finger at any person, just commenting on a general category of remarks, hence I've morphed the general idea of those remarks into something no one has actually said on purpose, to avoid anyone thinking I'm disparaging a person or persons in particular.)

Yeah, all that stuff about how long I've been using computers is true, and yeah it means I'm old as dirt. I love it here anyway, don't mind not getting the trivia questions right even when they're frustrating as the dickens, and have sore toes from kicking myself for *not* thinking about looking for decoders on google. :-)

Posted without whines, rancor or feelings of superiority, so please don't read that into any of this.
stop complaining people. i am in my 40's and had no clue. maybe 10 year olds would get it better than me. claps for all the smart people who got it.

Lol, well that last one totally went over my head... I bought the prize though, so it's all good. The wren is super cute
Is base 64 like... logs? Don't know what that has to do with programming but... uh.. that's what I think of when people keep saying that...

Annnnyway, I think I have this next one. Hopefully. I like riddles

I missed the last one, no worries though. As to this one, even if I miss it, I love the poetic nature of the question.

I'n not complaining thought. I failed with this trivia but maybe I'll get the next one right ^^
One can't always win.

Lawl, Keith. :3
This is a better trivia, though. Even though I can't figure it out.

I'm just wondering if we should expect a question in chinese or maybe a japanese, so I can start looking for online translators, at least I'd know that it's another language and not something else.
I made a trivia that was Subeta related, and some people got it wrong. I'm sorry that I didn't say OH THIS IS BASE 64 so that everyone could answer it (I'm really not, btw)

Good luck on future trivia's
0

Right... Base64. -tries to remember- xD It was a good trivia, nonetheless.

I almost had the new one right, but my computer screwed me up and I hit enter on accident instead of delete. D8
0

BooLani

I did think that the last one was a code of sorts but had no idea that it was Base64. I did google for decoders but found rubbish so I gave a silly pathetic answer.

I think I got this new one right but it seems too easy in comparison to the last lol, especially as I thought I'd got it straight away, I knew I'd seen something along the lines of the riddle last week hehe!

I dont begrudge a harder trivia once in a while.. expands the mind and whatnot
0

User not found:

InvaderGEL: I always capitalize my answers and when I get the event thing at the top saying I got it wrong or right, they're always lowercase. So I think the trivia automatically de-caps everything, so it doesn't matter.

"I'm sorry, but your answer of q3vyc2vkifblbmnpba== for the trivia was incorrect.

Great.. ask a question in base64.. get an answer in base64... and thats wrong how?????"

I completely agree. While I didn't even try to answer that trivia, if I had tried and found the answer Cursed Pencil, I would have re-coded the answer. I remember in a past trivia that somebody asked whether we were supposed to answer questions in the format they were given, and the answer was yes. So that was a doubly unfair trivia--not only did you have to know this was a programming language, you also had to know that you were supposed to answer in English.
0

Rah

Seems that there are a lot of sour grapes today I also had no clue, but not every trivia will be answered by everyone. I personally can't do sequence trivias, some people can't do math trivias, some people can't do coding trivias. I think it's nice that there are trivias aimed at all sorts of different groups of people. Maybe the people who got the coding trivia right find other trivias really hard and are not able to do them? It's just like general knowledge quizzes, you're going to be better in some areas than others.

The editorial is old. Some pages are over 2 years old. It needs to be re-written/re-answered.

Even Debi uses googleable questions occasionally still! So that answer in the editorial is quite wrong (remember the auld lang syne triva?)
0

Tammy

lol OMG whaa whaa whaa, it's a freaken game. I didn't get the answer either, get over it and move on. If every trivia was easy and equal to everyone the prizes would be worth crap. *eye roll at whiners*
0

Camilla

I agree that you didn't have to be a programmer to answer the last trivia BUT you had to have some clue to know what to do with it.

I've studied quite high maths AND a bit of programming but never ever heard of base64... o.O

On another note, I think I got the new one ^^
0

Aureate

I'm sure the prize will be reused again since not that many people won. And wasn't everyone getting irritated about not having the trivia change anyway xD?
0

CelticRaiN

K people, that was a joke.. i didn't know nuthin

so I was like whaaa? and then I said, hmmmm? it was kinda funny and then I just snorted ... I knew what the answer was... just didn't want to show off... *bashful eyes*

I've never heard of Base64 before and I've been on the internet for EIGHT YEARS. Oh well.

will take me some time to figure out the new one.
0

Omgawdd. x.x that was the hardest trivia I've ever seen. xD
0

satanael

Well, I thought is was something I could find on subeta and NOT via google, suspected a mime file. You can ask for details of the OSI model for all I care but I'm not bothering with trivias anymore if I don't know if they are exclusively subeta related or not.

Natsu_792

I looked at it, laughed and didn't look at it again until today when it was changed.
I want a lion as a pet. That would be very cool. I would need a shovel and a huge liter box though :/ on topic: I like the new trivia prize very much and it sounds like we are going to be getting a visit from some not so friendly critters.
0

StarGazer772

Im sorry but I dont think it really matters what pet you have or where you live or what grade you went up to all i know is I am over 40 and I have never heard of using a decoder or even googling for one.I do know about computers and math and yet it didnt help.....Yep i agree the prize should be reused.
0

Evy

If I knew it was a non-subeta related one, and if I knew we needed a decoder to figure it out, I would have looked it up on google.
I was in the impression it was a subeta related one, so I searched the site.

"It is the internet and it is simple trivia. How can anyone NOT have even heard of Base64? It is the whole NET at your fingertips, whine less and think more. How hard it is to search for VBgejk2GG (or alike) + decoder?"

Alot of people use the net but don't know a thing about coding, so saying it was easy because you knew exactly what to look up is daft.
That trivia excluding a large amount of users because they simply had no idea what they were looking for.
I have never heard of Base64 as haven't many of my friends. These trivias are supposed to be fair to everyone, not just those who know about a certain subject.
Anyway! I think i got the new one
0

User not found:

For all the people complaining - I got it right with no prior knowledge of base64. Just googled "decoder" and kept looking till I found it. And I live in Africa - where we have lions as pets. If a third-world country girl can get it, you have no excuse to complain.

If you have completed Mathematics or Computer Studies on anything above like Grade 10 level, you must have at least heard of binary, hexadecimal and octal? Or at least seen it on your calculator? Those are base 2, 6 and 8. So looking up base converters isn't a completely unreachable conclusion.

Your answer cursed pencil for the trivia was correct! Youve been given an Ikulbluewren and 150sP

It is the internet and it is simple trivia. How can anyone NOT have even heard of Base64? It is the whole NET at your fingertips, whine less and think more. How hard it is to search for VBgejk2GG (or alike) + decoder? It takes you to base 64, hexadecimal and whatever you want. If you think you should decode the code...and if it quacks, it must be a ducking decoding thing, no?!
0

Tribunal

Augh. I knew it was coded, I just couldn't figure out in WHAT! Turns out I actually found a really cool Colonial era cypher, in addition to a variant of Base64 that's called something else entirely ....

Well, congrats to Keith (and my Dad) for being uber-smart computer programming/coding nerds.

But I promise I'll beat either of them in a Philisophical debate. So !! (XD)
0

chibimiCHELE

Err....what is Base64? I think I should google it. I have never heard of it until now.
0

I had a sneaky hunch it was programming related. After all, the Head Honcho is the Uber Programmer of this site. But, as the saying goes, "mah horse just don't go that way", so I gave it a pass. Final thought: There's a lot to be said for a "level playing field" cause gosh darn it Keith we're not all card-carrying MENSA members. So give us poor puzzle peons a break and keep it onsite. Muchas gracias

I think a lot of the complaints could have been avoided if the tag (format: English) would have been added. It doesn't give away much of anything and clarifies the whole of it. Oh well. Hindsight is 20/20.

I don't think it was right the way you posted the trivia question. No, I'm not whining about omg it was too hard so unfair I don't get the item. The point is that yes, you're really good at coding. We get it. Really. Not everyone is, in fact, not a lot of people are. what you're missing is the fact that most the complaining(at least that I could see) wasn't "omg I missed an item" it was more "Now, how would we have ever thought to do that? I couldn't understand any of it!" I'd be willing to bet that not a lot of people even knew what base64 was before now.

People expect the trivia to make them think. If you ask me, they were a little easy when I first joined here. However, this one? 2500 people entered and only 350 got it? Doesn't that say soemthing? Not to count the people(like me) who just didn't even enter anything. I'm not saying we should make it way too easy for everyone, but you can't take for granted because soemthing is trivial to you it is even KNOWN to everyone else.

And yeah, there's also the "other language" complaint. Because really, it is a coding language and I do see their point. HOWEVER, it's over and done with and I'mma go guess on the new trivia.

So do me a favor and don't ban me cause I'm an outspoken little chika (Who also rambles in odd directions >.>)

"I don't understand how you expect to be my equal on my site. That's like wanting to be an equal to the president, while in the USA. I make the rules, I'm allowed to bend them. Get over it."

That's a really terrible metaphor since actually the president of the USA *is* supposed to be equal to everyone else and is not above the law. The idea of everyone being equal is actually the entire idea this country was founded on- that's why we have a president and not a king.

Anyways, I didn't get the trivia, but I didn't think it was unfair. I looked at the string of letters and didn't get it so I didn't really try. But if it HAD occurred to me that it was a programming language, I could have easily figured it out. I don't understand how anyone can be on the internet and not have heard of a decoder for programming languages.

I submitted an answer I think makes sense, but I'm not confident in it.

Anyway, as to the last one, I'd bet a lot of the people upset over it are those who still need trivias to get into the Blue Building. I got it but I know when I first took a crack at it I was thinking, "Great, new trivias finally start coming out and this could be the second one in a row I don't get. Stupid building should just be torn down."

Also, some (not all) of the people complaining might not be as mad as they sound and may just be letting off steam.

Blue Building here I come, ever so slowly...

Well...good. Now I've HEARD of Base64. How it works or what it's good for (besides ticking off scads of people), I'm not quite sure.

Concerning the new trivia...I think it was easy; perhaps my answer is wrong.
0

chibimiCHELE

I am so happy that I am not the only one on Subeta who refuses to be a sheep in the herd. JustMimi posted the Editorial question and answer...the same one that has been floating in my head ever since that ridiculous past trivia.

Making and breaking your rules is great. What is the use of making them though if you are just going to break them? People lose respect for these so-called "rule makers and breakers". Like that judge who was the head of some committee for regulating ridiculous lawsuits and then sues the drycleaners for like 150 million $$. You think he is respected anymore? LOL

I will prolly get frozen for pointing this out. Oh well!
0

adi_663

Well, now I get why people were saying there are gonna be a lot of "Unfair!" complaints once the trivia is over. I didn't get it, I have never heard of base 64 in my life and I have no idea how I would've gotten to it, even if I tried to google just "decoder". But it's just one trivia, one prize.. it really isn't a big deal.

I find this one to be trickier than the last one. For the last one all I did was google "decoder" and found the site which decoded the text and went to subetahq and found the item. *shrugs* I guess everyone has better luck with different types of trivias.
0

Ginger

the next one will be in c++
0

Jeryn

Id like to point out that A) the trivia WAS still Subeta- related once you figured out the question.
and B) LOTS of people had posted that it looked like a code, and wondered where to decode it.. so its not as if that idea wasnt plastered all over for people to see.
0

Pink

That was one hard question.
(I didn't get it, but It was pretty hard for those of us who don't like deciphering things late at night, like me)
0

RainOfStars

Well I learned something new today. I had no idea about the trivia but I think the encoder/decoder thing is cool and I bookmarked it for future reference If you didn't have any idea what the trivia was about (like me) just save up for the prize and buy it. Yeesh, it's just pixels! Complaining is probably going to provoke the powers that be to start doing harder trivias just to tick off the complainers.

Keith said:
While we're on the subject of equality, there are users who are under 10. So we should slim down the trivia's even further with easy questions [but keep the rare prizes, of course!] and keep the questions that be answered with under 10 minutes of work [Because, kids have to study for school and can't spend so much time on the internet.]
end quote

By no means, Keith. However, if one makes a statement, such as the one in the issue 14 editorial, it is not unreasonable to suppose that when one does not abide by one's statement, that there will be a hue and cry. Yes, as you said to Flit, you have the right to do whatever you like on your own site - make rules, bend them, shatter them, whatever you'd like. Since, however, the expectations of your users is that the rules will be equally applied, (just as the President is no more allowed to traffic in controlled substances than any other citizen) it is rather counter-intuitive to think they will not complain, and will simply say, "oh, right, Keith can do anything" without questioning it.

I think I'll just bypass the trivias which appear to be extremely arcane -- though that would be easier if I didn't enjoy learning new things so much. Would it be possible to include the explanation for the answer and if needed, the method of solving the puzzle, along with the answer in the past trivias section?

Thanks.
Wow, alot of negative comments! I myself got it wrong by my 1st comment. I have never in my life heard of a thing called 'text decoder' and I am an adult. Its called "Trivia" and also luck in some cases. I am not mad I got it wrong, I actually learned something i've never heard of so I win some sort of prize, knowledge We can't win them all so give the staff a break!

0

daww, if only I put in another hour I could have found something to help with that darn code thingy.
Ah whatever...I'll just wait for a easy one to come around again someday lol
0

The reason I went with the English version and not code for the answer is because special characters have messed up trivia answers in the past and figured the answer wouldn't have a = in it.
0

Naj

I'm sorry, but your answer of q3vyc2vkifblbmnpba== for the trivia was incorrect.
Great.. ask a question in base64.. get an answer in base64... and thats wrong how?????

So not only do all the rules get bent but we were supposed to divine that you didn't want the answer in the language the question was written in...

And as for you snippy comments about how you're the president... that kind of god complex is why I don't play on other petsites... Very nice job.

I for one, did not even think it was a code, so why would I have searched for a decoder in the first place. Plus, most of us here don't have a bit of coding knowledge. Either way, I think that trivia was unfair to most players on the site. (By the way, that is my own opinion.)

this will be an interesting one as the last one tried to make pudding of my cerebral cortex. i think i have this one.
0

That was defiantely an *outside information needed* format with a subeta related decifered question. The question should have stated that, and the format. Good thing I answered in English and not base64.
0

Poiema

I loved the last trivia, even though I had no idea how to do it. XD I wanted to playset SOOOO bad, but honestly, the trivias would suck if they were all easy as cake and everyone got the prize.

There'd be no point; they might as well call it 'Free Gift: The Sequel!' This way, the prizes are actually worth the work put into solving the problem.

Plus, it's not like they're all like that. This one is more like a riddle, and I loooove riddles. c: It's nice to see varying styles and difficulties in the trivia.
Quote:
RuthieRox asked:
I heard in the PAST, Trivia questions could be from anything. On, or off, Subeta. Is this still true, or are Trivia questions now Subeta related ONLY?
Trivia questions are now Subeta-related only, so you have to know your way around the site to find them, instead of just using Google.
(Answered by DNA)
End quote

OK, I suspect that the staff will hide behind technicalities (apparently all having grown up under the Former Occupant of the White House and learned the lessons of "it all depends on what the definition of 'is' is" far too well), but it does seem a bit odd that we get an answer in an editorial telling us we're not going to have to google in order to answer a question, and with the last trivia one had to either be an initiate into the arcane mysteries of programming, or head offsite to use google.

The prior trivia is comparable to my posting a question about Subeta, but written in Latin and then the final copy produced via Leonardo's mirror-writing. Possible for some to figure out, but not with a level playing field.

I hope those responsible for the last two trivias will heed the users on this one and refrain from such posting more questions on this line. A challenge - great, love 'em; a trivia which is markedly unfair - nope, no place for 'em, IMHO.

Rant over.
The string of letters and numbers you saw was Mimecoding. If you entered the string into a decoder, it asked you "What item would gnaw at you with it's sharp sharp fangs, if it could?"
And of course, searching HQ would give you answer "Cursed Pencil"
(also a little confused about format, but I just put down how it's USUALLY written... I hope that's considered the CORRECT way.)

0

HopefulNebula

Well, i had the idea of encryption right. Though I rot13'd it and just submitted that to annoy Keith.
0

Gilgamesh

O: This one is cake compared to the other 2. Well.. IF I have the right answer that is.
At least the answer came to me in my mind on this one instead of searching like a deranged moron 'til my eyes started to hurt. XD;
All I can see is how this was another example of Keith being above the rules - first, he uses chatspeak when no one else is allowed to, and now he's using other languages when we're not allowed to. (and don't say it's okay because it's a coding language; I've seen binary boards get locked)

So now if we want to release trivias based on garbled language, it's wrong?

You're just trying too hard, now.
