Hah, freaking win. I love it, it's so much better than the old, if the lasirus had looked like this when I first joined, I might have gotten one. If I get another gold account though, who knows? <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_happy.gif" border="0" /> But the wings could use more fingers, to both look better and be more anatomically correct, but then they might cover up those cute little toes... Whatever, it still looks 100% better than the original.

I love it, a lot. I'd just suggest redrawing the wings, to be more anatomically proportionate. They're far too thin and small to be able to hold that body up in the air. BUT I love the body and everything else, it's just gorgeous.

I have to say if you used Zohkaro's redlines as the Lasirus revamp, I'd actually get one.<br />
This pet looks rather skinny in the face, and I know I'm probably going to get bombarded with people saying that it doesn't look skinny, but meh.<br />
Anyway, I too miss the old snarl and the evilness, I know I know, thats what "special" colors are for....<br />
But really, each pet should have its own personality and I believe this one should have a bit more of an attitude or flare in its facial expression.<br />
It is a big improvement over the older one.... yet it kind of lost that fierce factor, but its very nice and overall I'll most likely vote for it.<br />
Keep the revamps coming!<br />

I like it. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" /> The only thing that bugs me is that the tuft of fur/hair on the tail makes it look a TAD too feminine for me. I have problems seeing it as a male pet.

It doesn’t translate into a viable option for the casual Subeta user.

<strong>Nestly:</strong> I promise you will have your snarling freaky killer bat with some of the darker colors. You have to understand that, like Jag said, the Lasirus is seriously one of the least popular pets, (I actually saw a rating thing once and it was the least liked, right after the Turdle.) so a change is in order. And as the majority of users like it better according to the poll, those who still like the old one should come to get used to the changes in time, or just go with a scary special color. (I actually have already made changes with the common expression and hopefully it will help!)<br />

BEST. REVAMP. EVER. Nestly is pretty much my favorite person on the entire planet right now. :'D Bats have always been one of my favorite animals, but I always gave the Lasirus species a wide berth because the old version looked like a scraggly winged rat fetus. The new facial structure and expression are divine, and the leg-stripes give an appreciated flair to an otherwise plain color scheme. I sincerely hope you end up keeping the new-and-improved expression despite all the pissing and moaning going on in here (it retains enough of its fierce/evilness that it stays true to its predecessor, and yet it also manages to stay neutral enough to conform to Subeta's newly adopted policy of not "forcing" personalities onto pets. Graveyard, Bloodred, and Nightmare Potions exist for a reason, guys).<br />

The structure of a real bat's wing is fairly analogous to a human's arm and hand (their taxonomic order's name even means 'handwing')- the webbing of the patagium is stretched between the 'finger' bones and between the fifth finger and the sides of the body. The new Lasirus seems to have lost a finger in the revamp and gained a strange fingerlike appendage on its elbow. While the Lasirus is of course an imaginary animal and not a real bat, and can easily have less (or more) fingers than its natural counterpart, the wing structure in the version uploaded here looks really, seriously unnatural and not particularly flight-capable. <br />

I think I'd still like the old version best either way, but the elbow-finger is pushing this from a slight preference in one direction to a point where I find it hard not to hate the new one. It looks too much like a marsupial for my tastes. :/ It's okay, I just wish it was more bat-like. Yes, I realize that it is a fictional creature on a website, but because it is based off of a bat, I think that the anatomy should at least be correct to the actual animal. At least the big head is gone; that was a good change. <br />

From the past few revamps, I think the artists are having a serious problem with sticking to the original mood the pets had. The Lasirus was obviously a Vampire bat, not a Fruit bat. And the special mortikings used to look Noble. Now they look rabid and as if they should be sedated. I really wish the Moods could be absorbed before trying to redraw them. Let your mark be your Art work, not your own 'special twists.' <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />

Basically, it is as it appears in the redline. I'm not very clear on bat anatomy, but, I think that would make it look a BIT better. Over all it is a lot better than the origonal as far as colouring and shading goes. I'm amused by all the people saying the new version "still looks evil". I didn't think the old one looked "evil" necessarily, just intense. Which this one does not. Also amusing are all the critical comments listing this or that wrong with it, which I don't see at all. My only issue is that both the pose and the expression are just sort of blah. Pose/expression were quite intense before, if a revamped revamp could be done giving it a bit more character, it would be great. But we'll have to wait and see what the other colours will look like. This one is the basic version after all...

I love it! I always feel bad for the artists though because people always criticize them. And it's like if you don't like the new one then vote for the old one. The artist already made it and just cause you don't like it or it's ear is just half an inch off what you wanted doesn't mean you complain complain complain. -snorts- What really amazes me is not what people are saying about the revamped picture and not the previous picture. Things like 'Fugly' and 'ugly' and whatnot, when it was done by another subeta artist, either still working here, quit, or fired, then we're told to respect the artists. Really, I'd hate to become an artist, because people turn on ou the second things you drew are revamped, or so it seems. It's not like someone pulled it out of the air; the old lasirus had to come from an artist somewhere, you know? Constructive critisism isn't a huge insults to artists, but calling their art ugly is, so who is in the wrong here? The people who dislike and give critisism, or the people who do like it and insult the work of the artist who's picture is being revamped?

He's glorious! Majestic even. My only complaint is that back ear like everyone else has said. It just bothers me, so much in fact that I prefer the old one to it. But tweeking the ear just a bit, and he's perfect.

Awesome. This version is a lot better than the current version. I love how you can see it's body through the membrane. And I love his chest fluff <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_happy.gif" border="0" />! Like others have said, the back ear is a little dodgy, but by it's expression of being cautious with it's ears pinned back it does fit in. Totally awesome job Nestly!

I really think it's a big improvement, the thing that bugs me is the left ear, it seems to me that it is determined despire natural forces to be backwards. Perhaps make it more like a side view, instead of back facing?

The wings are really, really bothering me for some reason. :/<br />
Bats wings usually connect all the way down to the waist, not tapering off to connect right under the armpit. It would never be able to fly the way it is now. XD<br />

To all those who are insisting that the revamp shouldn't look evil because bats don't look evil - we (or I myself, at least) are not basing our opinions on real bats. We're basing them on the <i>original Lasirus</i>. Which is, as you can see from the current pet art, clearly NOT a cute friendly little fruit bat. The photo NoirRaven posted about halfway down the page looks more like a Lasirus to me.<br />
<br />
On another note, I didn't even notice the transparent wings until Blitz mentioned them. Which is good - it means they're not <i>too</i> transparent, and don't distract from the rest of the art. Nice touch!

I don't see the wings as being too small. Remember, they are membrane and as such they would stretch in flight. If the wings are half furled like they are in this pose, they won't appear as large as they would when it was actually flying.

I must have a strange way of thinking, because I LOVE how this redraw is thinner and more graceful (do big bony things fly? Nope), while I never liked the Galactic Lasirus because the wings looked like they were made of giant femurs or broomsticks (sorry, whoever drew that one <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />!) I hope that even if this one is tweaked, the slimness isn't lost. I'd hate for the whole species to suffer from broomstick-wing syndrome...

But over all it looks great and a lot more proportioned.

I'm sorry but I love the savage look of the original. The face and expression on this one make me think in terms of sweet, cute, cuddly and affectionate. Would it be possible to have the new Lasirus available in one colour where it looks as if it's about to tear someone's throat out? It's why I chose a Lasirus in the first place.

Finally [=" I have been waiting for this darling species to be revamped since I first joined. I love the new version's wings and how they are rather transparent. The coloring is nice and the legs looks good. <br />
Personally, I would have preferred the ears to be slightly cocked forward, but its a minor detail that I can get used to.

I like a lot of the aspects of the revamp, like the insides of the ears, the fluffier collar and end of the tail, and the feet. . . so it's getting my vote.<br />

I think the only thing I have to say as a suggestion is that I prefer the positioning of the original better. I liked how the old one was hunched over and more angry looking. I think it suited the pet more than the new smiling one.

I like it. 2 wholes seasons I've been waiting! I mostly like how it, uh, doesn't look as sinister, though I wpould preffer it's wings to be spread or it to be looking at the owner. Still, it's got my vote.

Oh gosh. I've always wanted to be a subeta artist... but every time I read these revamp comments I'm just... like....... Whoa. ;_; It frightens me sometimes. There's always such relentless critique. Especially for revamp artists.(in fact, almost only for revamps....). Many very helpful comments, but many are also a little harsh, even for critique. I know I shouldn't be saying this... I know :c But I just feel bad for the artist sometimes... <br />

Anyways, this is a revamp that I like. I do agree about the critique with the head shape though, i thought it was kinda cute when the snout was shorter. But it's definitely wrong to say that it was a mistake in anatomy, or "not possible". My suggestion would be to make it bend forward, hunched even. I'd cut the space for the tail, so there should be more space left for the head and the ear. I guess my problem with its expression is that the angry eyes don't fit to the emotionless mouth and almost scared looking ears ... if you know what I mean <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" /> I'd reduce the fluff in front of its chest and add more to the shoulder as well. Maybe the nose could be more flat? Okay, that's it with my suggestions ... before I get stoned here *sigh* On the other hand I think the feet with the claws are done nicely even though it looks more like a rat than a bat *hugs her Wyllop* And the wings are nice.

The back ear, I must admit, <i>is</i> somewhat a result of getting it to fit, but also to add in the effect of aggression. The ears folded back means this guy is being cautious and not happy. But I will see what I can do.<br />

I LOVE this one. Enough to consider it one of my top three favorite pets. Noticed that Nestly did it right away. XD My favorite part is the snout, it's just so... awesome looking. I lovelovelove this revamp! I've been waiting for the revamp on my favourite pet FOREVER! Instead of carping on the tiny flaws, I'd like to laud Nestly for the excellent wings she's drawn. The shape is just gorgeous, and realistic, and the light transparency makes me go like this, :3!<br />

As many other people have already pointed out, there are a few changes that could be made. The biggest issue for me would be the position of the back ear. Raeven_DarkWings did a great job at pointing out how the ear should look. Other than that perspective problem, i'm really loving this new artwork. :3

I like it! The smaller head makes it look several times its original size, but that old head was a little unpleasant looking to me. And you KEPT the ORIGINAL COLORS, YAAAYYYY!!!!!! I cannot praise you enough for doing that!!! The only change I would suggest is that the rings on the tail skin ought to be much, much thinner per the original just because now they do not look like anything based on 'reality'--look at photos of an opossum's tail and you will see what I mean. But aside from that I think it's lovely!

I like the new one better. The old one just seemed very squat and had this head that seemed a bit too huge for the body. Some people have pointed out the new head seems a little small and I kind of agree but I still like it better as the total flow of the body works much better.

I think it's fantastic! The thin face works for me, it gives it a bit more of the rat feel so it's not just a bat with a tail. I've always loved this pet even though I don't haveone of my own (if only!) and this makes me love it even more. On its left wing, it looks like it joins the body at the shoulder. I love the new image! Yes, please do! I love bats (favorite animal) and this new version really does justice for the pet! the old one just seemed... a bit fugly. I'm so excited about the new look! If it becomes a reality, it will probably surpass the Montre as my favorite Subeta pet!<br />

As to the people saying the ear can't be fixed and some other things because of the image size... the old one has it hunched over in that Igor-esque position. That's something interesting to me; why not keep that position and just fix the few anatomy flaws in this? It could still look pretty evil and sinister; I think that's what gave it the flair. All hunched over and practically hissing at you with the fangs bared.

It looks so happy. xD Overall, it's really nice. I like the tail and chest fur a lot. It's right ear is a little funny looking, and the face looks too small, but even if these things aren't changed it'll still be a great revamp. Lovin' it.

I think this is an absolutely beautiful redraw! I've always been a big Lasirus fan (Obviously, with my Galactic Lasi!) and so I'm really happy to see it get such a beautiful redraw! But, as with many pictures, there are some )fairly minor and easily fixable) flaws that I think, if fixed, could make this even better. (:<br />
<br />
First off, as I'm sure people have stated, the dithered quality to it makes it look less 'real'. With most of the other pets, the lines and such are so smooth you sometimes forget they're just drawings! If there is any way this could be fixed, I unfortunately don't know it (aside from just getting a different art program) but if someone can help you with that I think it'd be great. (:<br />
(Some main areas I notice could be smoothened are on the ears, the farthest wing and the farthest leg+foot.)<br />
<br />
Second, there are some little shape issues that aren't incredibly bad, but are still rather distracting from the quality of the rest of the image. Namely the very slender face (just doesn't seem natural for a Lasirus; Or any bat for that matter! Bats tend to have very wide faces) and the closest foot. The middle paw-toe is slightly above the other two, which doesn't make sense and looks odd. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" /> I would suggest simply moving it a bit lower, so it looks even- like all the toes are on the ground.<br />

As for what people said about the chest fur and the angular-scales on the tail, I think those look marvelous! I'd be sad to see them changed- They look so beautiful! Sure, they're not exactly like the old Lasirus, but this isn't supposed to be the old Lasirus! It resembles it, but it's supposed to improve. Giving it lower-quality features won't improve it, and it still looks like a Lasi even with the small adjustments. (: I really hope those things stay the same, though. I kind of like the idea of a somewhat clean and elegant bat character!<br />

I think this is an absolutely beautiful redraw! I've always been a big Lasirus fan (Obviously, with my Galactic Lasi!) and so I'm really happy to see it get such a beautiful redraw! But, as with many pictures, there are some )fairly minor and easily fixable) flaws that I think, if fixed, could make this even better. (:<br />
<br />
First off, as I'm sure people have stated, the dithered quality to it makes it look less 'real'. With most of the other pets, the lines and such are so smooth you sometimes forget they're just drawings! If there is any way this could be fixed, I unfortunately don't know it (aside from just getting a different art program) but if someone can help you with that I think it'd be great. (:<br />
(Some main areas I notice could be smoothened are on the ears, the farthest wing and the farthest leg+foot.)<br />
<br />
Second, there are some little shape issues that aren't incredibly bad, but are still rather distracting from the quality of the rest of the image. Namely the very slender face (just doesn't seem natural for a Lasirus; Or any bat for that matter! Bats tend to have very wide faces) and the closest foot. The middle paw-toe is slightly above the other two, which doesn't make sense and looks odd. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" /> I would suggest simply moving it a bit lower, so it looks even- like all the toes are on the ground.<br />

As for what people said about the chest fur and the angular-scales on the tail, I think those look marvelous! I'd be sad to see them changed- They look so beautiful! Sure, they're not exactly like the old Lasirus, but this isn't supposed to be the old Lasirus! It resembles it, but it's supposed to improve. Giving it lower-quality features won't improve it, and it still looks like a Lasi even with the small adjustments. (: I really hope those things stay the same, though. I kind of like the idea of a somewhat clean and elegant bat character!<br />

I know, NoirRaven, but it was nice having a common pet that deviated from the norm for once and leaned more toward the crazed-looking side. So many other pet revamps (including special colors) have turned pets with dynamic personalities into either smirky little kittens or surly teenagers, which have become the norm for ALL pet colors, and it gets disappointing after a while.<br />

But oh well. Doesn't bother me enough to raise a stink about it. At least the art looks nice (a bit dithered, but that seems to be the style for most pet art nowadays). As long as the Bloodred one retains that nice rabid "...I might do it again..." look, I'll be satisfied.

I think the art quality on this one (e.g. shading and so forth) is much better than the old one, but the previous version was more "chibi," and I liked that. There's something very compelling about evil chibi creatures.

The old Lasirus had exactly one personality - evil little bat. The new one however can go a multitude of ways, from evil to spoiled kid, to plan friendly. <br />
The common pose of a pet should be as personality neutral as possible in my opinion, leaving the redraw colors to darken or lighten the mood of a pet to cater to people who like different personalities.<br />

One of the key components of the old Lasirus was the evil expression so I am glad that it wasn't taken away completely as it would have altered the pet too drastically. But by toning down the evil vibes a bit it still manages to keep a lot of the feel of the old one while softening the pet up and making it more flexible personality wise.

I'm sad. My first love, and first pet was Acajou, my Lasirus. I love the sinister look, the eyeteeth poking out of its mouth and its expression. The new body, tail, colouring, even the ears and stripes on the legs are all fine. But the new face is just too cutesy. There are plenty of cutesy pets, I even have a few, for those who like that. But we're running out of more sinister looking ones. I don't want Acajou to look cutesy. I want her fierce.

homg...I love the new one! It looks so much better than the old version. The old one kinda scared me actually and I personally love bats so I was sort of dissapointed by it...but now! Well now I would almost get one...if I had an extra pet slot...which I don't. Oh well...wonderfully done DNA!!

Absolute love for the new revamp! I agree that there is a bit of dithering, but it's really not that big of a deal (I had to look hard and squint to see it). Although the back ear does look a bit wonky, I understand the image size restrictions and it's not that bad either.<br />

I completely agree with NoirRaven, that the anime-ish look fits well with Subeta as a whole and that it's not too thin or thick or whatever. This revamp is pretty much perfect!

Actually, I like this revamp. First of all, the pose is much more dynamic than the original. The way that the wars are swayed back and the figure is crouching with the wings half spread gives a feeling that the Lasirus has just landed or is about to take flight. Second of all, I like how the head has been made smaller and more aerodynamic and the facial expression adds a sort of sinister air of mischief to the creature, much better than the over-sized head with that messed up hissing expression on the current design. I also like how the tail and chest floof fall. Not too fuzzy, not to limp.

The new one keeps a evil glint to its eye and facial expressions while still looking like it could be playful and sweet if the owner decided that's what it should be. I think many people would be upset if it lost all if its evilness in the revamp, since that was such a fundamental part of the old Lasirus.

[no offense to the artist] it doesn`t look scary at all to me. And the little cute it has is weird. The revamp Lasirus looks way more sinister than the galactic just by the eyes. The pupils make it look like its staring deep into you and it so does look like it'd rip your face off and then play it off like it was innocent. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" /> Plus the hunch in its back just adds to the look. But I do think that the fur on its head should be toned down a bit, and maybe giving its eyes a little more of an arch will make it look more evil like the others want. Oh, and the quality isn`t that bad, geez.

I like the smaller head and thinner body, but the ear does bother me as well. Perhaps if he was a bit smaller the ear could rest in a more natural position and still fit within the box? I wouldn't mind a meaner facial expression too (I think someone mentioned that) but the one on there now doesn't bother me much.

In order to fit your version of the ear, they'd have to make the over all pet image smaller so it'll fit in the frame and that won't do. :/

I personally love the new lasirus. I think it makes sense for the lasirus to be thin because while it isn't a bat, its based on a bat and bats are thin and don't have that chubby face like the galactic. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

Oh.. And for those complaining about the pose, the head tilt.. The body proportion..? Would you rather it be in a dull static pose standing straight up with a doofy grin on it's face, or would you rather have it the way it is now, where it actually looks fluid enough toleap out of the screen and pounce on you? <br />Anyways. I just noticed now nice and strong the hind legs are. I knew there was something about the little guy that DIDN'T MAKE HIM A BAT, but a species of it's own. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" /> The hind legs look as it the Lasirus does a lot of hopping or running aswell as flying, and that long, flowing tail must be great for balance and direction. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

I actually really like this revamp. you kept it very close (if not identical) to the original design; now it's much softer and natural-looking. I don't think there's anything specificly wrong with the image (i'm sure some users would beg to differ, but they need to get a life sometimes. ), I only really notice nice qualities about this one. <br /> Nice job, I actually might get one considering they dont scare me anymore. x3

I don't think there's anything specificly wrong with the image (i'm sure some users would beg to differ, but they need to get a life sometimes. ), I only really notice nice qualities about this one. <br /> Nice job, I actually might get one considering they dont scare me anymore. x3

I don't like it at all. The Lasirus looks more like the sidekick of some anime kid other than a lasirus. D8 It is not a pokemon, but reminds me of one so badly that I dislike it very, very much.<br> The wings hardly look like the webbing is attached to the body, and where it is attached, it is just... not where it should be. Bat wings connect to the body, and if you look at the far wing, it doesn't, and makes it more like a bir's wing. <br> The head is in a strange position. The rest of him is hunched forward, while the head is thrown up and back, making for a painful neck position, if you've ever tried it. The ear itself is strangely positioned, and the head.... is much too small. The inner ear... makes it look like it has three ears all thrown into one. Just like the tail, though the tail is done a bit better.<br> The fur and head tufft are over-done. The old Lasirus looked sleek and proper, while this one looks like he's trying to be a punk. <br> And I have to agree that the immage quality is bad. It looks all.. blury on the outlines and it looks like the artist had a hard time cramping it all into the box and had to break one of the wings and make it smaller and mess up on the ear to make it fit.<br> So, all in all, the only thing I DO like is how you can see the body through the membrane of the wing, but that's not enough to make me want to vote 'yes' for the new one.

The proposed revamp looks good - cuter than before, but still a little evil as well. I like the new proportions - the head on the old/current version looks a bit large, so it's nice to see that changed. Just one thing about the new one particularly bothers me, though - while the wing membrane looks much better translucent, something gives it a sort of dotted effect, and I can see the same thing in some of the darker areas of the fur as well. Maybe the image compression quality needs to be adjusted a little? I also echo the sentiments of those who feel that the back ear looks a little awkward.

I don't think it's consistent with the other recent pet revamps as far as quality goes. It's not really in the same style, and the shading seems too dark. It's also dithered on the wings for sure.

I realize the Lasirus isn't a bat per say, but most bats have very narrow faces, and when their wings aren't outstretched they don't always seem large enough to support them in flight.<br /><a href="/redirect.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kostich.com%2Ffruitbat.JPG" target="_new">-Example-</a><br />I'm glad the revamp didn't look much like Galactic, personally, since that one's face is too round and seems more pig-like. ^^;

Okay, despite the fact that the arms STILL look like they could never support such a creature (the shoulders just don't look connected properly, and he looks downright fat 8D) I'm very pleased there's a Lasirus update. Though, the far ear looks like it's broken - may just be the angle, but it looks like it's sticking out too far. This is only me picking out minor details xD But yeah. Yay! I got the Galactic Lasirus as soon as it came out, because I love bats but the Lasirus scared me... The Galactic one was the first one that was both fierce and adorable, and this is following in the same direction. Good job. <br /> Also, just a sidenote.. though I love this one a lot, I'm more a fan of the chubby-ness of the Galactic one.. hehe.
