BATTLE OF THE BANDS FINALS!
Well, they\'re finally here! Holy Oracle there were a lot of entries. I actually had to work! At least some of you had the foresight to give me a good chuckle. Or maybe that was just accidental. Either way, good work, everyone that entered!
We\'ve narrowed the finalists down, and have 6 finalists for each genre. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the R&B/Soul genre as there were so few entries, entrants from that category were moved into the \'Other\' category to be judged. (I guess Subeta has no soul! Or rhythm. I\'m sure we have plenty of Blues)
Now, to find our Grand Champion, the bands are going to need some support. This is where you guys come in! Have a look through our Finalist Showdown and pick your favourite band, the one you want to support right to the bitter end. That\'s the band you\'re going to be battling for! And how do you battle, I hear you ask in wonder? Well, you need to play Street Team of course! Woah! Much game! Very battle!
For now, scores can\'t be sent - we want to give you a chance to pick out your favorite bands and get familiar with the game for a few hours first. But starting from around noon tomorrow you will be able to start sending scores - and each score sent will go towards your chosen bands total! Users can send 3 scores per day - or 4 if they have a Gold Account. VIP users\' scores count for 25% extra towards their total! (So, a score of 20 will give you 25 points!)
Now, prizes. There are going to be a variety - but seeing as you guys continually impress us with your skills, we haven\'t yet decided exactly how they\'re going to be distributed. There will likely be prize(s) for the winner of each genre, and then the grand champion will be rewarded - along with all the people that supported the grand champions band. There will also separately be prizes for users that submit the highest scores, so even if you are in a team that maybe aren\'t doing so well - you can still work hard and achieve something on your own! The Grand Champion band will get to work with us on designing some items, so all prizes will be awarded after Peka-Boo has come to an end. Score-sending will end on Monday 28th, again around about noon so that we can tally up the scores and announce the winners in the evening!
Every one of you could be instrumental in getting a band to victory. So pick who you want to support, and stand by them! Yeesh, that was a lot of information. I\'m going back to my tent.

I would have loved to see them all.. some of my friends had made bands and I never got to see any. Why couldn't the players vote?

We LOVE the creativity we're seeing from the bands - keep it up! Gotta get your name out there somehow, right? The staff is all so excited to see how this plays out.

So I got one of the candy boxes asking for support, and in my opinion, this is FANTASTIC initiative! Being a member of a real street team for a band, I can tell you, this is how they work in real life. Getting their name out there so people can check them out. And guess what? In my initial perusal of the bands, I didn't look twice at them, but after the candy promotion, I went back and really checked them out. It worked. This isn't a bribe, it's called promotion and they're doing it right! Good luck ladies!!

Congrats to the finalists! I'm sad my band didn't make it in, but I like a few of the choices. The only problem is picking between my two (three?) favorites. Good luck everyone!

Just seems to me that since there was no R/B Soul people, should have made a metal/alt category as I saw like... TONS of those. shrugs
No idea who to go for yet, honestly kinda blah with the 'voting' way but at least it gives gamers a shot to shine.

For the record, I'm sending out the candies from SUG★R AUDIO, but they're not bribes! Whoops, I didn't realize there would be so much fuss over it. We're trying to stand out from the crowd with viral advertising! 
are pretty inexpensive, so it wouldn't be a very good bribe, anyway. ;) (Also, disclaimer: there is no shady white van. The candies are delivered via pilotless paper airplanes, so no stranger danger)

Wow okay, people use promotion tactics in real life as well?? I don't understand why people are complaining about potentially free stuff. But whatever floats your boat I guess.......It's not like we have real musical tracks that we made ourselves for people to listen to.
I'm not going to think to badly of the gift box bribe. I don't know if the one who sent it is even in the band. I'll look over the bands but so far no one is standing out to me. :|

- you can be in the band's support team but not play the Street Team game. You just being there will be points for that team, and you are helping them by being another supporting fan. Even if you don't play the game, I /still/ encourage you to find your bands forum board and hang out there. Users are getting into all kinds of silly fun, and that's what a festival is all about!

Somebody from SUGR AUDIO just sent me a giftbox with a lame promotion in it. First of all, that's weird because my comment literally said that I like NONE of the bands, zero. So I know they're just going down the line sending them to EVERYONE. Second, DON'T BRIBE ME WITH BAD ITEMS I do not have a supple baby brain that can be swayed by crappy bribes. Third, the item I was being bribed with was totally useless and now I'm annoyed that my time was wasted, because I got all excited that I had an anonymous giftbox for nothing :c plz stop this

Some quick questions answers before I go to bed for the night!
- You will be able to support ONE band. Bands are encouraged to put in a link to a forum thread where hopefully they will hang out with you, get more supporters, really get some support going. You essentially all become one big team, helping out your chosen band. This is where the bands can put together all those graphics they've been making! (And set list, and any extra thing that they want)
- Bands themselves can play the game and earn points for themselves. I believe we may have made it so that you automatically will be supporting/promoting for your own band if it's in the finals, because you gotta love yourself before you can love anybody else, can I get an AMEN sashays away
- Every score will count to the end scores, so we encourage everyone to /try/. Even just submitting a few points could bump your band into victory!
- If you have no interest in this game, or battle of the bands itself - I'm not sure what to say. This is what Peka-Boo is all about! Just picking a band and getting involved with them could be really fun, if you tried. Otherwise, there's always dearest Oatmeal. Or our other site games!
- We had something like 400+ entries. Putting it to user vote may have very well caused chaos. We've tried to keep you guys as involved in Peka-Boo as we could, (we went entirely by user vote for the CW competition rather than using our Peka-Boo staff judges) - but for this one, there were just too many. The lag of everyone looking through 400 bands and going back and forth on which ones they liked best would have been painful! This was the decision we made, and now you're back in the game, deciding on the winner from the group of 30 we have here :)
- The button to support/promote your chosen band will be up at some time between now and when the scores can start being sent. (The programmer in charge of this had to leave for a bit, she's been notified and will sort it out soon!)

... I hate any type of game like this to the extent of kicking unicorns. :( I may be having to sit this out. I just about closed FF and said "the hell with everything" when I loaded the game to check it out. I guess there is not going to be anything else to do now is there?
Too bad the 'voting' is by a lovely flash game. I won't be participating because I am the worst at those games and just hate them. But congrats everyone who won even if I won't be voting for you.
