New Readables
After years of suggestions, we’ve caved and made a bunch of much requested older items readable! You can now read your pets the costume trunks that look like books and tablets, as well as, you’ve been waiting for it—tomes!
For a complete list of the newest items that are now readable, check out my post on the make this readable etc. thread. We love taking suggestions to improve item usage, including consistency! You can see what other changes I've made for consistency tonight as well as suggest other options on this thread. I go through every once in a while and knock them out, many thanks to the users who keep the threads tidy for me. :)

Throwing my support in for @ColdDragon as well, since I also just accidentally read a tome to my pet. So annoyed.

If I'd known blasphemous shards would become readable I wouldn't have gotten rid of mine.. welp. I'm glad about the tomes though!

oh my those cash shop books were unexpected. I wish the trunks would have a link to the cash shop(trunk items as well for that matter) in user shops like other items link you to where they come from, for example the See the World has a link to the Antique Shop

This. It's too early in the day, and I haven't been nearly caffeinated enough to be civil yet to really do this without getting myself in trouble, so I'll just say that I'm going to be going back to my old, hoarding ways. Saves me having to go pay out the ass for items I had sitting here for years before I was convinced that I just had[]/b] to go sell everything.
btw.: so much for "Subeta no longer supports hoarding"

I haven't wasted any tomes reading to pets yet, but I second what @ColdDragon said. It is gonna hurt when I break down and do that... Tome prices have been unusually high for months now as it is. This will only make a bad situation worse.
I DO like that the note encased coal is now readable though. Those were undervalued as it was. Their long-term price is likely to be reasonable -- unlike the tomes. Maybe alter the Mage's drop rate and/or Quentin's drop rate to compensate?

Just wasted a tome reading it to a pet instead of using it for stats. Really don't like this part of the change.

I may be wrong but the way I understand Ariel's comment- it's not that making wearable readable is a problem, it's making books wearable. If they have some wearable books, users will wonder why they can't wear THEIR favorite book. And ssubeta doesn't have the resources to design every new book as a wearable also.
Same with minions. If you start making even 1/100 new minions wearablr, everyone wants their favorite minion to be wearablr also. And then you are talking about drawing up HA art for thousands of minions, not just toggling a few HA items to be minions too.

@Ariel I'm not trying to argue, I just actually don't understand...
"We don't do wearable books (except those random ones back in the day) because of the precedent of having them, essentially. We don't have the resources to make them all wearable, so it's a path we haven't gone down. Kind of like why we don't make minions wearable either. The trunks aren't wearable themselves so it's not really a problem to make them so now."
When you say "the precedent of having them" do you mean the precedent of having wearable books? Cuz there were a few wearable books that are still around... And I'm a bit confused what you mean about not having the resources. There are wearable foods, for instance. Does it take more resources to make something readable as opposed to edible? They seem to do pretty similar things (add item to the pet's list of consumed things, and increment a stat...)
Thank you for answering my question. I'm afraid though that I did not understand your answer... I'm sorry D:

I'm glad, I have been for almost ever after some painful learning in the beginning. With all the new old readables over the last 2 days!

Tomes!!!! Mean ;-)
Yeah, I guess, they should give at least 3 int. points...
Why is a bug (Scarab) readable?
Not happy about the extra expensive Cash Shop stuff, at least they ARE in shop and not retired. But I second the question about the no more readable wearables statement and the comparable price.

Ffffffffff- And I have already accidentally read a tome to my pet instead of using it on him because I'm used to automatically clicking the first option that comes up. Wonderbar.

Books aren't really my thing here but I appreciate this kind of work and that the staff listens to the community, so thank you! <3

Yay and nay? All these book like items I can't get now because prices have gone through the roof. But on the other hand....more things for my pet to read, I guess?

I just have to ask...These costume trunks turned books are still going to cost 500 csc when most other books cost around 125-150 csc? I am assuming that once it is "read" it will vanish and you can't use it as a costume trunk anymore. Is there any way to sell an empty trunk as a book and lower the price?

Argh. At one point I had quite a few tomes handy because I thought they were readable and they weren't.. ended up selling them -.-

YAY books!
I haven't had this much excitement on subeta in forever. Though if I hadn't sold off most of my CWs and had csc to burn I'd probably be singing a different tune.

that would be a yes.
Also... I'm not sure what the reasoning was behind the "no more wearable books" rule, but isn't making readable costume trunks even worse than making readable clothes?

Awesome! I'm especially glad the Blasphemous Shards can finally be read. My reader needs to be well-versed in arcane and forbidden lore.

Got here less than 10 minutes after the news post and everything is already inflated, geeze :(
Exciting news otherwise.

I can't train my pet any more so I really depend on the tomes :( This is not going to be a good thing for me and a lot of other battlers!

I think reading the tomes should have given multiple intel points like some of the special books (book package for example)

Okay... sorry to be that person, but I'm a bit upset about some of these. Mainly, the tomes. These are basically the best stat boosters, so they're already always in high demand. And the Mage barely ever gives them out. (I turned in like 30 amulets once and got like 2 tomes from it...)
If you are going to make them readable too, please at least make it more likely for the Mage to give them out. Otherwise demand will outpace supply even more, and the prices will go through the roof.

Ugh, that Note Encased Coal makes me angry. 2k up to 1m. I mean, good on the people who bought them out and are now selling heaps for 1m, but you're also the bane of my existence.

Thank you! I've always wanted to give these items to my Demi to read!! ESPECIALLY those tomes!
