You may have noticed that the forums and wardrobe (and possibly other things) aren't loading or working correctly right now. Staff are aware of this and will fix the problems as soon as we can!

While we're working on it, how is everyone's December going otherwise? What are your holiday plans? What are you looking forward to?

Looking forward to having some time off between semesters! I feel a little ridiculous, but disappointed with my last semester; 2 A-'s and 2 A's... I'm looking forward to kicking off a new semester with fresh motivation! And hopefully only one year left in my Associate's! I have one class coming up that is taught by the head of my program, so fingers crossed I will impress him.

It can't be just me either, right? My avatar isn't loading, and I can't see if an article of clothing or accessory looks good on my avatar or not. :(

so sorry to be a pain, but my HA is completely broken and i can't even load an old saved outfit to wear for now, so i wanted to make sure it wasn't just me still having these issues. this isn't supposed to be fixed yet, right? will there be a news post when it's all worked out?

I'm still having issues myself, my avatar isn't wearing the right outfit.

Thanks for the update! I can stop yelling at my laptop now. Heh heh...

It's going alright.
It's been super busy, I'm forever tired and my days off have been flooded with events so... It's going. Although I am looking forward to my family tradition of Smash Bros on Christmas eve so there's that at least. ^_^

I hope everyone's been having a relaxing December. :)

It's going terribly tbh. I lost my cousin to depression s few days ago - he was a hilarious and lively guy. Tomorrow is his funeral but it's a) open casket and b) the same day as the first anniversary of losing my cat Xaya, a loss I haven't fully recovered from and still have a ton of new anxiety triggers related to it. It'll also be the first Christmas without my great grandma, and the first Christmas in my grandma's house living with her new husband - after my grandpa passed late last year (we always go to Grandma's for Christmas). This is also the last month this house is "ours" because our forbearance plan ends this month and we still can't afford the mortgage and we don't have a place to move into after this. My husband has MDD and suffered his second episode a few months ago, and the first time he had one was a few years ago in December, so after losing my cousin and the current situation with our home and his recent episode, I'm very worried despite his constant reassurance that he's managing at the moment and his promises to not lose his battle.

Safe to say I'm really not in a good place right now, and definitely not in the holiday spirit. Don't think I've made it through a single day this month without some tears.

I'm sorry for venting/oversharing. Life just keeps throwing all this awful at me and I just want to know what it's like for things to be okay again.

Going through some awful heartbreak and mental health issues, but I'm just trying to focus on my dad and my graphic design work right now. <3 I made a pretty cool layout for one of my pets over the past couple of days, so. Yay. o/

A friend of mine said they might knit my snake a tube sweater and this is the best news I've gotten all year. My skink, who came to me sickly, is so much more active after his medications that he is quite literally a new lizard! I am mailing people holiday presents and the squishable sale has treated me like a god amongst mortals. Sometimes Things Happen, thank you to the staff for keeping the lights on here. ^^

Getting pumped for Christmas, going shopping for secret santa and white elephant gifts! I have my family's Christmas party this Saturday and I'm stoked because my Uncle's daughter is bringing her baby for the first time, and one of my other Uncles and Aunts who I haven't seen in a long time are going to be there and able to meet my son! he's just over 1 so I'm excited to see how he reacts to the celebration this year compared to last year :>
1

ChaosEmpress

We have a fresh turkey from a meat market for Christmas this year! Around Christmas we're going to watch Going My Way with Bing Crosby, We're No Angels the 1950s version, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. At Christmas either Eve or Day we'll watch A Charlie Brown Christmas. Oh and Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer. Right now I'm listening to Dean Martin's Baby It's Cold Outside.
1

Raggy

Im in England, Its about 4c and very cold, no snow yet,but maybe on Christmas day.
I had a haircut and will be meeting my 3 older sisters in a couple of days for a good old 'chin wag' I stopped cooking pies & puddings years ago, as half my small brood dont like them, and the other half cant eat them, plus its cheaper to buy than make nowadays.
I wrote my Christmas cards today, and will wander round my village delivering what I can, & post some as well.
There will be 6 of us on Christmas day for lunch, I cook and we are all full to the brim by the time we've finished, then theres naps and chats, eating chocolate, we dont really drink, maybe put some funny stuff on the TV from youtube, and after they go home, I will be on Subeta having a catch up and getting my Lumi gifts :0)

I hope everyone has a loving and peaceful time.

My 2018 is not good at all.. I've lost 3 big dogs (my sister in law in January, my sister in laws mom on my birthday and my mother in law in November. Just buried my mother in law today.) My daughters ended being hospitalized for having Hard core panic attacks. She's fine now the doctors had to Calm them down. It was heartbreaking. We should be released soon.

I just want this year to be over and done with.

METROID

@Isilven
Considering staff rarely ever talk frankly with their users anymore, yeah, this is a fitting place to bring criticism up. Not to mention there was kind of no choice since the forums lately have been dicey as well as all the lag. News comments are always fair game. And yes, people are struggling. But guess what? People are struggling at all and any time of the year, not just the holidays.

It does not matter how much money is being sent their way, they should be giving their best effort all the time to keep the playerbase invested. I've got my concerns about what's going on lately, just based on my own experiences this past year that stuck out to me as out of character for the site. Your mileage may vary. We come here to escape real life because we've got time to spare. I can't enjoy my time here if the site's basic features are conking out because a pushed update that supposedly will fix it still doesn't make a difference or breaks something else.

I'm well-aware of the site's archaic old coding, and that a rewrite is a long-term, expensive goal. It had been talked about a few years ago, but nothing more ever happened outside a few random testruns I managed to at least snap a picture of and have kept since. And considering how promised features have yet to even happen and have had no mention since then (teahouse, pet profile code that won't break when the site's overall code is updated), I'm not holding my breath on the site ever escaping this current incarnation.

The more you love something, the more you criticize it out of said love. No one gets a free pass in this world. I used to think a lot like you do, but the real world beat that idealism outta me.
8

The thing I'm looking forward to the most is this is going to be my daughter's first Christmas.

Glad to hear you're working on it!

I'm planning on staying home with my family for the holidays like I do every year. I'm looking forward to the homemade shortbread cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and cinnamon rolls! We make those every year so we can have some baked goods to indulge in!
1

kaleidoscope

December. We're at the halfway mark... I'm not feeling like my usual festive self. But. BUT. I am trying daily to do something nice for friends or otherwise.
0

fizz

My December is going... fine. I've already eaten a good amount of chocolate, I will probably need to get more before the big day arrives.
1

just2b

Yeah sorry for being a negative Nancy. I just like how supportive most people in the site are. The thing to keep in mind is that December is a stressful time for most people regardless of whether you celebrate the holidays or not. It's not all rainbows and kittens. On a plus side my birthday's on Saturday and workplaces are hosting Christmas parties both on the day before and on the day so there's an apropos boon.
1

bulleta

My december started with me having surgery and today, when I don't even have my stitches out yet, I have woken up with a cold that has intensified me feeling weak and woozy and achey so so far it's been a very physically uncomfortable month. And I turn 25 in a couple days! 25 and feeling like an old person lol
0

just2b

Wondered, figured. My December had been wrought with depression and other sad things. My grandmother is in palliative care with terminal liver cancer; my mom's with her in Alberta and the family drama is exponentially higher and I wish I could be there just to tell my extended family to f#ck off. There's a point where it's stress from what week happen and then there's dickheadedness. But I digress.

For me, I've been sick with first the cold and then the flu so I stayed home to be with the fur babies. I don't feel festive and I've been swirling between depression and suicide. It's ironic; I've got a serious phobia of death and yet, I want to end it all. I haven't because fur babies are awesome and I could never do that to my mom especially now with grandma. And I don't want the valid yet negative feelings I'd leave with from my friends. So I'm stuck with swirling.

Our family has finally pinned down our holiday gathering plans and looking forward to having a jolly time!

DarkVixen28

Thank you for the update  (Tbh I thought it was just my computer. The office computer is a bit....wonky.)

December goes. Hoping my holiday bonus from work will be big enough to cover the last of the fridge payments (trying to pay it off early so I don't have to pay double for it). Nearly maxed out my credit card so my youngest brother could see a concert last month as an early gift. He hardly ever brings things to our attention and asks to go, like it'll probably be 5 years before he does that again, so it was well worth it to see him enjoy the show. And I skimped out on lunches last week so I could make sure my mum got to see White Christmas in the cinema. She's really bummed we're not going to have much of a holiday so I wasn't going to let her miss her absolute favourite Christmas movie being brought back to the theater for a special run.

Thanks for the update!
I know there's plan to bring the CW Pawn, but is that is good idea when the site is currently so slow during certain hours of the day?

Anyways, my December has been okay, but I feel meh. I've been waiting for some new angel pets to come out so I can finally fill my Quest-a-thon slot. But I'm sorta close to ditching that plan and creating a pet I have a story idea for.
1

Lumi forum seems to be back, since it let me post just now. :)

Holiday plans here are to spend Christmas with family, and we have a pre-Christmas party this weekend, so hopefully I get over this cold that I have soon! XD

I am dealing okay with the issues. The site is busy this time of year, lag happens. Thanks for the update. Got the have that F@^% lag sticker. My December is going great, so far.
0

Lore

Thanks for the update!

This month hasn't been going too bad, but as usual I'm finding myself getting stressed out about everything that still needs to be done before Christmas and making that deadline. For holiday plans, I have an invite to go to a dinner at my bf's house, but I don't know if I'm going to have a way to get there or not, or if my bf is going to be working then or not, not to mention I'm a bit torn between if I should spend that holiday with his family or mine (it would be the first time spending that holiday away from my family). I guess what I'm most looking forward to is January, lol. Gotta love being an adult.
0

Tardis

All is forgiven.

I'm not doing much besides working retail. Yay (sarcasm). I am super excited because I'm sending my crush some cookies and a Deadpool print. We met through facebook and I've had feelings for him for a long time. I'm even more excited because he's sending me a card (I asked for his address telling him I wanted to send him a card. I didn't tell him about the cookies and print).

Amborella

Thanks for the update! So far my December isn't going as plan. Didn't get a job, guess that means my plans are to continue job hunting, paint K9 (not sure which one because I to IV look the same), draw the Baker Hotel on the fox river, knit a scarf out of a neon "snake", bake and make food for Xmas, celebrate my birthday with Chai tea or apple cider, and apply for fafsa. Right now, just looking at dealing with getting the neon "snake" knitted.
0

EmilyMae

Oh good! I thought it was my brand new computer (yay for Christmas miracles!) and I was starting to freak about thinking I had a virus or something already :(
We are doing the usual Christmas Eve party (but this year it will be a pizza party) and then spending Christmas day watching the Naruto movies I bought my daughter :D nothing says "Merry Christmas" like ninjas!
2

Noelle

Thanks for giving us a heads up! Due to lag I missed out on collecting Melody's gift yesterday. I remembered at 11 p.m. my time that I hadn't had the chance to get Melody's gift due to all the lag, by then it was too late. First time in probably 7 years that I missed a day.

Well, after I get an order placed today on Amazon all my Christmas shopping will be completed. I got two Christmas packages mailed out yesterday to go to family. I baked up molasses cookies that went out in the Christmas packages and will be making more on Sunday. My husband has to work on Christmas day, so this will be the 4th year in a row of celebrating Christmas by myself. Still, it will be a fun day regardless. I have movies lined up that I want to watch, will have goodies to eat, and will probably play my sims 3 game.
So overall, the holiday season is going quite well so far. :D

We were going to have a White Elephant Christmas at an Aunts place when all of the sudden you know how the story goes and family drama blows with the winter winds. Now I have about a week to prep my place for the occasion. Just so we all are informed everyone is doing well and being blessed and grateful in the holiday spirit. Texas is warm and things should work out quite fun. :D
0

Umbrella

@Chocolate

I need to distribute that to every one of my coworkers. I raged out a bit last week when one of my coworkers wrote an email about how "all he wanted" was for me to add a column to about 20 tables in a booklet that each contained similar, but varying data that I laid out over the course of the week to create a consistent and clean look. Some of the pages were maxed out - there was simply no more room because I had made it work. Last year I made about 30 anniversary logo variations and when we decided on a final one, one of my coworkers mentioned how the basic design was "his idea". I know him well enough that he got a full dose of my venom.

It's incredible how frequently people who have no design ability demean the skill it takes to get from idea to final delivery.

Wow. Sorry. Rant. Our whole sales team has been in town this week. Not coincidentally, I took vacation Tuesday and today.
1

Isilven

@METROID Look, I know how economics works. I also know how running a site like this goes when you don't have big-name backers with big dollars. There are days where Subeta never makes even close to their daily goal in CS purchases, and even the overflow from Bonus Weekends isn't enough to put those days into the black. There is no possible way that we're actually all paying them enough money (I've been here for 12 years now and have been regularly buying Gold Account for a while now) to be able to fully upgrade to another, better server host, let alone be able to run their own server bank and provide both the real estate and the labor force required to run one.

Plus, I can't think of a time where lag occurred where people weren't reimbursed for their lost time. This was supposed to be a nice thread explaining what was going on, instead of shutting down the site entirely, giving us the "Sorry Subeta is down!" error page, and letting us all know what's going on via FB and Twitter. Instead, people decided to use it as their ranting page. TBH I wish I had seen this much static about that bunk AF "skip past the potentially illness-inducing plot puzzle but get penalized for it!" situation, but instead people have to pause on their gifting threads and think it's carte blanche to come roast the staff.

Point is, we simply do not fund this place enough to be this entitled about it. If you're some secret shareholder in Agoge or whatever, then bring this up at the shareholder's meeting. Until then, give the people working through the holiday season, and may be very well working through something that is a high holy celebration for them, to provide us this game that the majority of players are playing for free, a little bit of leeway. It's costing the staff actual money to have parts of the site go down, and to have to stop doing their normal jobs to fix it. But it costs y'all $0 to just be chill and kind during a time when emotions are already wacky, for better or for worse. Just take a look at this thread, man. There's a lot of people struggling right now.

@Isilven
Nobody should ever be above criticism. If someone's doing a shit job, you call'em out on it and tell'em to do better, because you know, and they know they're better than what they're currently doing. They want to keep this site alive, they better start prioritzin' what really matters to keep this site functioning so we don't lose more people who get fed up with all the site's hiccups and problems. We are their consumers (customers if you put money into the site especially), we expect better effort than what we've currently been getting.

This isn't the first time users and staff have had scuffles, and it won't be the last. We got through the last one some years ago, we can get through this again.
11

Tucker

Thanks for the update.

I don't really celebrate the holidays* so other than getting annoyed over the horrible holiday music this month is the same as the others.

*I do get the kitties and dog presents. I don't know if they celebrate or not. lol Besides the stores come out with nice items for pets this time f the year.

Thanks for letting us know about the glitches and whatnot. Can't seem to open the forums at all. Tried various things, and even tried checking on a friend's laptop. Nope... still not opening. The loading icon just keeps wriggling but the posts don't come up. Will try again later.

I'm a bit sad because I missed yesterday's Melody gifts... I was really trying to get the whole month of coming on and collecting... but once more I will not get the prizes nor the achievements :( You'd think in the 10 years I've been here I would have gotten it at least once! Ah well... at least I can try for other days :)

Still have Christmas shopping to do. It will be a small celebration, just myself and my cat... she's easy to buy for haha! Hope everyone has a delightful holidays!

Though I did want to go out for a walk today and get some work done, but it's raining heavily, and I think it'll turn into a thunderstorm later today... oh well, there's always tomorrow!

My plans for the December holidays are to... meet up with friends that I haven't seen in a long time! And celebrate the holidays with my family. ^^ I'm going on a trip to the North of my country with my family next month, and that'll be fun. :'D I'm looking forward to seeing my friends and having more time to animate stuff for myself!

December is so rainy, which is annoying, because I could use some sun. Also, my senior thesis is due next wednesday and it's still about 75% done, so yeah, pretty much freaking out at this point. I managed to write 30+ pages in the last 4 days, so maybe this can still work out lol

So yeah, shitty month so far. I would wish it would end, but in january Brazil will have a disgusting president, so maybe it's better to enjoy this holiday season.

I plan to visit friends and family in my home state of California (I currently live in freezing New York)

Mourning

Thanks for the update.

My December is going okay. Got most of the presents bought, just need a few for my roommate and mother in law.

My tree is up but not fully decorated. Trying my hand at homemade ornaments this year.

Other than that, I'm just surviving day by day.

Christmas isn't really celebrated where I live so it's sadly just a normal time for me. :c

I finally got the 2048 master achievement! Woo!

Also. I too am in finals boat. See me, not studying. Whoops.

I'm looking forward to everything on the site getting fixed. :expressionless:

I must say this holiday season has been great. I tend to struggle around Christmas for various reasons (like my mental health) but things are looking up and we have received some blessings.
I'm looking forward to some new Angel pets here!

I have comments on this that I'll keep to myself.

I'm stuck working retail the days leading up to Christmas, super long shifts, again. And I don't have Christmas gifts bought otherwise because there's simply not funding right now to do so. Being poor sucks.

it's been kinda a crappy December for me. I've been sick off and on and we had to put my cat Joe to sleep because of him being super sick. My plans are to go to Branson Missouri and forget all my troubles.

Atm I'm wondering what that centropolis card wearable from melody today even looks like because the preview shows up as a broken image for me (As are many other wearable previews) :/ I'm assuming that's related to these issues, thanks for letting us know through a news post, hopefully it can be fixed soon

METROID

Maybe you need to hire another programmer instead of more wearables artists.

*still waiting in the shadows for the pawn shop to open*

But other than that I am excited for lumi trees to open and for my friends to see their prezzies! :D

5°C, feels like 1°C. Just did (some of) my Christmas shopping. Huddled up in bed under the blankets.

Thank you for letting us know. :)

Spending the holidays with the family. All my Christmas shopping is done (excluding some stocking stuffers).

I am SO grateful for the Centropolis Winter Souvenir Card. Smaller me would have killed for a foreground item like this, let alone the rest of the series.

Thanks for the update! Been little frustrated with the forums not loading today but good to know you're working on it. :) I haven't done much Christmas shopping yet, I'm actually flying to England for Christmas so might do some gift shopping there and everyone will just get their presents little late x)

Asmodeus

My first week of December I was in Toronto and I got a cold as a souvenir. Can I return it? It's quite a nuisance and won't leave me alone. ):

I'm hoping the Forum Giftboxes will be brought back. Not because of ht gifts themselves, but because they usually make NPC threads to get us to post more, and I want some more NPC interactions. When the snowball throwing becomes available I might see if I can throw snowballs at them just to see if they'll throw any back at me X) Also, I can't wait to find out who Friendly Thursday is this month. I don't really do battles but I love learning more about the characters, and I hope it continues next year and if not, there'll be something that's just as good.

ManCityVic

I'm still rescuing animals, but managed to get all my shopping done in between work and callouts for strays and rescues :)
Happy Lumi everyone x

Thank you for the news post! Super frustrating when you can't make a bug report in the bug forum because posts won't load.
I am, as usual, way behind in everything I need to do. Present shopping, grocery list making and shopping, baking.
However, my brother that lives out of state and usually only gets one day or so to visit for Christmas because of work (he always works the day after Christmas) will be able visit for 4 full days before the holiday, so yay for that. :)

Thank you for the update!

I’m looking forward to my son being able to open his Christmas presents! That’s gonna be the best part of Christmas seeing his excited little face when he opens them :)

I was trying to figure it out where my 30+ drawers where... Hopefully things resolve quickly, good luck!

PS: My December has been fine, I'm making homemade jam!

I haven’t gotten Christmas gifts yet in real life or on here. I foresee a very busy very stressful 48 hour shopping spree. I’m going to spend Christmas Eve with my mom and have a smorgasbord brunch with her and hubby on Christmas. Then hubby and I will probably just sleeeeeeeep. Besides, our anniversary is on the 27th! And omg I haven’t shopped for that either! D:

My holiday plans are to spend as much time with family and fill 100 trees here on Subeta! Happy Lumanaire everyone!
