Merana
Merana is a sea witch originally located on the Omen Islands. She runs Merana's Quests — the only way to obtain a hydrus-colored pet.
Origin
Merana was once a beautiful woman who practiced black magic. Naturally vain and jealous, she was banished to the Omen Islands by Shinwa to keep her from harming people. When Merana retaliated and attacked the goddess with her strongest magic, the spell was reflected back, transforming her into the serpentine creature she now is.
Before leaving, Shinwa told Merana of the Guardian Beast that lives atop the mountain and placed a barrier around the Islands so that Merana could never stray far from the coastal waters. Merana found a lone telenine on one of the smaller islands, named it Daemon, and turned it into her slave as her first act of revenge.
False Goddess
Merana has presented herself as a Goddess of the Sea to the native Islanders, who now worship her and sacrifice one person to her each year. During the Omen Islands Plot it was revealed she chose Amy as her sacrifice due to Amy's similarity to Shinwa. She is suspected of collecting innocent, pure souls so that she can break the bonds Shinwa placed on her.
Freedom
At the end of the Bad Omen Plot in September 2016, the spell imprisoning Merana was broken. After disappearing for some months, she now randomly reappears on a spot of the Subetan map for 12 hours before disappearing again.
