Dan Won: What is a painting?
It's not written in books.
Try to say it with your own words, with the best understanding and knowlegde of what it is
You! What is painting?
Ah yes... painting, is putting what is in front of your eyes into paper to draw it out.
Dan Won: Rubbish...
Yes, a painting... painting...
Dan Won: Next!!! You!
A Painting needs to use the brush.
Dan Won: If you dont use a brush, can you use a ladle to draw?
Yes, painting is to capture a moment in a moving world's environment.
Oh!! *Clap*
Dan Won: You! You are really a man of many irrelevant words. You are a person who has yet to become an artist.
Is there anyone else who will give it a try?

The painter Kim Hong Do (Pen Name: Dan Won) lived from 1745 to 1806 in the Joseon Dynasty.
Dan Won is known as the first Korean painter to extensively portray Korean daily life, in a manner analogous to the Dutch Masters.
Because of this, today his paintings are valued almost as much for the insight they shed on daily life in Joseon as for their inherent aesthetic value.
