I never planned to become a killer. It sort of... happened.
Much like how a kid might find the dusty old grand piano in the study and discover they quite fancied casting the spell of sound with their fingers. Or how a bored teen might befriend a group of carefree individuals, downtrodden but laughing the loudest, and learn the rules of a few risky games.
Such discoveries are a thrill.
Wouldn't you say we live for the sake of these discoveries? One of life's greatest pursuits is the search for knowledge and uncharted lands.
So then I wondered what death was like. It's the most unknown domain of all. I looked at this sloppy mess of a person and figured no one's gonna miss 'em. So I made a beautiful stream of red while they napped and their sleep quietly became eternal. Do those who die in their sleep see a dream? Do they become stuck in one? I used to imagine all sorts of things. That was enough. For a while. But then I also wanted to know what a person who's begging for their life looks like. It was quite a lot like making up new tunes to me. And so I kept coming up with new arrangements, motifs and even plots - a high-stakes performance.
Have you played death poker? I think it's a lot more worthwhile than russian roulette. You can do a lot more and also get away with a lot more too.
Killing is a really under-appreciated pastime. It's really not that big of a deal, you know?
Yeah, I can hear you already:
”You're a monster!”, ”Psycho!!”, ” Die!”
I get it. You're scared. And we live in the kind of world where we come together, cradle the weak so they'd work for the strong, and protect them with code and law-enforcement. All so everyone can enjoy their rivetting lives.
