It seems my tale has not been heard by many, so I wanted to tell them how my name came to be as well as my adventure with a great family.

My life was not easy growing up because of the earthquake that hit where I was living, and that is how I became an orphan until my Aunt Lucy found me and had taken me in. The next few years of my life with my dear Aunt Lucy were at the Home for Retired Bears while learning Peruvian and English ways. When I was older, Aunt Lucy suggested I get out in the world and explore it, and the idea sounded so fantastic that the small explorer in me boomed with excitement that could not be contained any longer. From "Darkest Peru" (as we Peruvian bears call it), I became a stowaway on the boat that had a destination going straight to London.

Once arriving to the ships port and then traveling to the train station at last, I awaited a future home with a family to call my own. My dear Aunt Lucy was kind enough to tie a small ribbon upon my neck with a tag that read,

It was then that I sat down on my suitcase filled with a map of London, my Aunt Lucy's best marmalade and some sandwiches while I awaited for someone to pick me up. Ten minutes passed by and a family by the name of the Browns came and found me. (They must have saw the "Wanted on Voyage" sticker on my suitcase!) Mr. Brown was reminded of the World War II children evacuees that had name-tags upon their necks and holding their belongings — so this was the reason he came and adopted me (as I like to say.)

Although I'm a bear and not a human child, it still made me feel loved to be thought of by the Brown family. Because I was found at this particular train station in London — called Paddington Railway Station — the Browns thought it was such a fitting name for my bearly figure. So that is how I got my name! I officially became Paddington. Which I'm glad I did, because I could have gotten a name like: Charing Cross or Wapping — which are not nearly as nice as Paddington.

The Brown family then took me to a place called 32 Windsor Gardens; they called this their home and it is now my home too! They gave me my own room — so I took a bath first — and then settled in with all my belongings. My hat went onto the small hat rack by the door, my little peacoat went into the small closet, my dear Aunt Lucy's portrait was set on my bedside dresser, and her bestest marmalade was put on the shelf across the way from my bed.

My days with the Brown family have been quite amazing and I could not thank them enough for taking me in as one of their own. I go to the farmers market in London quite often (Mrs. Brown, Mr. Brown and Mrs. Bird give me shillings and pence to buy things) where I purchase a variety of bread and vegetables, and I'm also respected by the shopkeepers because I drive a hard bargain. They don't mess with me because I give them one of my good 'ole "hard stares", which makes them turn red and they rethink their decisions.

And last but certainly not least, I like to write about my adventures. I'm the type of bear who loves good 'ole fashioned letters. The internet is a scary world for a bear and so is a keyboard. If I try to write on the keyboard, say an "i" for instance, it would come out like: lkhiym. This is why I write with a pen and paper and then stamp it with my paw of approval.

In the end, my adventures always turn out to be something like me getting into situations that arise from misunderstanding something that seems unfair or unjust. Then I tell the Brown family about my day and we laugh about it for hours on in. I could have never asked to be with another family who treats me so kindly and loves me for being a big old bear!
