My Mommy

I can't remember the day I was born, but my mommy does.

She was the one who carried me around inside her for all those months.

She was the one who felt me moving around and kicking.

She was the one who felt and had to deal with the pain brought on by my birth.

I can't remember my first birthday or Christmas, I'm sure my mommy does.

I can't remember my second, third, or fourth years on earth, but my mommy does.

She lived every moment with me.

I don't recall my grade school years, but my mommy sure does.

She played an active role in that play.

I remember very little of my junior high or high school years, but my mommy never forgot.

She faced failing grades, boyfriends, fights between good friends and overall a rebelling teenager.

She talked and screamed until she was blue in the face, trying to make her little girl understand.

That there's more to life than just boys and music.

Broken hearts, lost friends, people from all walks of life - thinking and doing things very differently than what I was used to.

I may still be young, but I have finally realized that all along, my mommy was just teaching me the things I needed to know to make it in this world.

She once was in my place before. So she's had the experience.

She's always been there through thick and thin to listen, to talk to, and give the ultimate shoulder to cry upon.

Even though, she may have not always shown it or even told me,

She's always loved me despite it all.

She was just doing her job..a job of being my adviser, my teacher, my counselor, my worst enemy at times as well as a friend..

But most of all..just being my mommy!
