Myr, Death's Mistress

There are many words to describe things that we mortals cannot see yet fear. Monsters, demons, or ghosts to name a few. But by far the worst of these are the Nightmares, leader of whom they named Death's Mistress, the name only whispered in the quietest voice least it draws the Mistress to their doorstep.

Nightmares shouldn't belong in this world, but many things that shouldn't do anyway. When the Gatherer (currently Ishka) gathers up the ghosts and leads them to the Shadowed Veil to cross over, she doesn't ask for permission. Nay, virtually all ghosts are happy to leave behind the bodies they were anchored to and live out the lives in the eden-esque Veil. But there is handful every once in a while who aren't yet ready to leave for whatever reason. The Gatherer summons them anyway, as that is her duty. Of those most retire, albeit grudgingly, to live out life past the Veil. One or two however fight with tooth and nail to travel back across to return to the living world. Very few succeed and even more get lost trying to get through the mists that encircle the Veil. But sometimes luck is with them and the ghosts climb back through. Their body is a pale shadow of its former self, vile and twisted from their journey.

Most Nightmares have very little power in the living world for the effort it took them to come back. They cannot harm the mortals nor do much to cause chaos. Mischief magic is what they are limited to, more annoyance then harm to those who it affects. Yet one Nightmare found a way to surpass this, and for this, she is known as Death's Mistress.

Myr started like most Nightmares, unable to interact with the mortals she'd tried so hard to get back to. Determined that there must be a way, her wandering eventually led her to The Pale Horse. Offering no other name then this, The Pale Horse showed Myr a remarkable gift.

Known as a Death's Whisper, The Pale Horse has the ability to summon the spirit from a still living body. Death's silent striker for The Pale Horse is shadowed from sight to mortals. The Pale Horse, seeing an ally in Myr taught her how to influence the living world and cause harm and chaos to people. While she never mastered the art of stealing the spirits of her victims herself, The Pale Horse was always nearby to do the task.

As can be imagined, The Gatherer is appalled by Myr and her companion. Summoning a spirit from its body before its time is the highest crime one can commit.

And so the battle between Death's Mistress and The Gatherer began.

Art Details

Overview:
Myr is the opposite of Ishka so to speak. She crossed back from the Veil, a long and dangerous procedure. She never wanted to cross the veil to begin with but was crossed over when she died by Ishka. Having come back, she causes havoc wherever she goes. Together with The Pale Horse, Myr has a myriad if tricks up her sleeve, the most deadly of which is being able to summon souls from the bodies of the living.

Design key points:
- Like all Koras, she has NO mouth. Please make sure you do not include one!!

-She's a ghost, so she can go incorporeal if she chooses, though usually she's in the shape of the standard Nightmare Kora.

- She doesn't actually steal souls, though she likes others to think so. It is The Pale Horse who does the soul-stealing, but he is invisible to the living.
