The guardian of the Gate of Libra, one of the Twelve Gates of Zodiac, Malakhai is somewhat of an enigma. He likes to engage people in amusing and philosophical but vexing conversations, and can seem quite crazy in a playfully harmless way.

It was in one such of these conversations that the question came: "What gave the Gatekeeper Gem its massive power? Where did that energy come from?"

And so he went forward, determined to investigate. The Gem's power was greatly underestimated, however, and it consumed him; its vast energy was never meant for anyone less than a God. Unable to completely flow into its recipient, the energy turned upon itself and the Gatekeeper Gem shattered.

Needless to say, the Gods were furious. The terrified Malakhai, thrown into a cell to await the harshest of punishments, used the remainder of the strength gained from the fractured Gem and escaped to the earth.

Unable to return, he now aids the unknowing Raiuk in gathering the scattered shards, in hope that he will be forgiven if they are found.
