There was a slight breeze coming in from the sea. Cumulus clouds were scattered across the sky. It was a beautiful day. It was also the perfect day to go flying. Transonic looked over the tarmac which ended at a cliff that dropped into the sea. She breathed in the salty air and let out a long breath. She was ready. Her sidekick Willy soared above looking for a meal in the tall grass surrounding the tarmac. Transonic turned and walked towards the hanger, ready for flight. Inside the hanger an airship was being prepped.

The Shuttle was a medium sized airship. Originally used to transport small loads of cargo it was now modified for speed. The original engine had been removed and replaced with a racing engine which was modified to put out higher speeds. The cargo bay was gutted to fit the new engine and the wings were made more sturdy and larger to carry more fuel. They had also created a new fuel which burned cleaner than traditional fuel. Puttering around the hanger was Transonic's mechanic, Mwu. Mwu had helped customize and modify The Shuttle. He had a vast knowledge of aircraft and how they worked. Transonic trusted his skills.

Transonic told Mwu of her dream to fly faster than any known creature or ship. Mwu told her that he could help her in achieving her dream. So they set forth in designing a new airship. They used Transoinc's cargo ship and parts from several racing airships and created The Shuttle.

Mwu was double checking the fuel lines as Transonic walked into the hanger.

"She's ready." Mwu called out as he closed up the panel which concealed the fuel lines and distributor.

"Finally..." Transonic looked over The Shuttle. It was time. Transonic grabbed her parachute and climbed into the cockpit. Willy soared into the hanger and landed in the cockpit and waited for Transonic to position herself in the seat. Transonic then gently placed Willy into his own specially made "seat". She made sure that he was safely secured before switching on the engine. Mwu ran out and opened the hanger doors wider so that the Shuttle could move out. The engine purred as Transonic moved the airship out of the hanger and onto the tarmac. Mwu waved to her from the hanger. She waved back and looked at Willy. "Are you ready?" Willy looked at her and squawked in approval.

Transonic moved the Shuttle down the tarmac, increasing the speed so that she could take off. The Shuttle gained speed easily and quickly took off. Transonic pushed the speed farther and climbed into the clouds. She could not believe the speed the Shuttle had reached so far, and the speed kept climbing. Transonic flew though a cloud at an unbelievable speed. She exited the cloud and leveled the ship. All the gauges were reading normally nothing was in the red. She cruised for several minutes taking in the sight around her. Clear blue above her and fluffy white clouds below her. She had never reached this altitude before. She knew this was the perfect time. Transonic slammed her foot down on the gas pedal and the Shuttle zoomed forward. They were increasing in speed far beyond what the fastest racer could ever reach. Transonic was pushed back in her seat from the force that was created the high velocity at which the Shuttle was now traveling. Then there was a boom. Transonic panicked and looked at the gauges. Everything was still reading normal. She then realized that she had broken what Mwu called the sound barrier.

She had finally achieved her dream. to be the fastest in the sky.
